Have they added the keys to the wax chests to the store or the treats to modify the TI3 courrier yet. Haven't played in like 3-4 days and will play again tonight.

OP lied. Updates are twice a week now.

Question on how Husk's magic resistance works regarding damage. Say you have a full health Huskar against an OD with enough int to one shot husk. Would Husk get one shot because he takes all the damage at the same time? Or does his magic resistance happen instantly that the same time as the damage so he survives?

He would get one shot, his magic resistance wouldn't kick in until after damage was taken.

Fast radiance on Spectre is the greed build if you've been sufficiently protected.

Safer (and likely necessary if you're being harassed) to go something like Drums ==> Diffusal and build off there. I like a quick PMS as well, and OoV is always good.

Vanguard is kind of shit. Very defensive, and it just means it'll take even longer than usual to actually be useful. I would only get it if things were going very bad early, but your team had high turtle potential.

The Spectre guide I've been using had me buying a Quelling Blade, Tangos, a Potion and three Iron Branches to start. I skipped the Quelling Blade, which kinda fucked up my last hits early, and later the Vanguard. Started off with two Slippers of Agility Tangos, a Potion and an Iron Branch.

Went Poor Man's Shield > Wand > Phase Boots > Drum of Endurance > Diffusal Blade > Radiance > Heart. Had my best Spectre game yet, went 14-4-27, although I lucked out with the solo queue and landed some good teammates. Felt like I had more of an impact much earlier on in teamfights even though I had the rough start with LH at the beginning of the match. Still pretty crap at farmign tho, probably took waaaaay too long to get a Radiance.

dont go radiance

Radiance is 5150 gold that can be invested into diffusal and almost a yasha, which will deal more dmg anyways, as well as give you more survivability and utility. The only times I'd recommend radiance is against TA/Blinking heroes, but even then spectre does well with her almost max ms with yasha dagger, and desolate is a second instance of dmg, so she takes off two ticks per swing.

pms->phase->drums->diffusal->manta->bfly/crit/heart/refresher. If you're going into extreme late game 1v1 carries, then abyssal bfly satanic ac to round out ur build (selling pms and diffusal ofc)

I've decided I cannot play and do not like Huskar. I have never been successful recently with him, even with new Huskar. I find it damn near impossible to last hit with him for some weird reason. I have no idea what my issue is there. I buy plenty of strength stuff to start off. And then I just jump on someone, maybe kill a support, and die. We lose game.

Well, it doesn't help that the people you were trying to kill were Skeleton King, Life Stealer, and Riki, people who can just sort of ignore you spears (Well, Riki can't ignore him, but he can stop you from using them).

Plus, Life Stealer's Feast is physical damage and based on your max HP, and Sk can just take 20% of your health away so it doesn't matter if you have 90+ Magic Resist.

its probably his ever changing attack speed that is putting off your last hitting.
also, dunk their carries or tanks, dont waste precious ghost sceptre time on their supports unless its something that can cause a lot of problems.

SK's new spell is pretty damn good. I stole the spell as Rubik and melted one of their heroes using it with another heroes' support (Silencer but he wasn't dealing heavy damage at the start).

that match was horrible, i also had some arrows that sucked but i still cant think how they lost that bot lane.

It probably helps that Rubick doesn't need the Crit component.

Yet more evidence of the Grand Magus using spells better than the original wielders.

It would seem so, unless PC Gamer misheard. Educated guesses on how much bigger the population is going to get in say, the first month? x1.5? 2x? 4x?

Trench will be so bad.

I hope they just drop Death Knights and LC before TI3. Surprise!

Unfortunately that's from the UK edition of PC gamer. I would buy the magazine just to read the whole article, but Google Play/Amazon/anything won't let me because I'm in the US. Is there any way around this?

Just realised that the incredible popularity of league in south korea combined with its high high competitiveness and ruthlessness means good things for doto in korea!

woo mobas

Just had the funniest thing happen. I was mid vs TA and got like three kills on her and then another kill so I was 4-0. The 4th kill she dived past mid T1 down to mid T2 after me when I was pretty low trying to kill me and someone had tp'ed behind her to T1 so we killed her....so anyways a big fight breaks out mid after we break their T1 going for T2 and she gets me to about 42 and goes to deliver the killing blow and I use my wand and just barely escape with 12 hp and my team just fucking obliterates her....

Immediate dc and abandon. Everyone in the game started laughing their ass off even her team.

Fuck, just had this game where we were doing well as a team but getting destroyed in team fights since we are facing Lich and Warlock. We didn't have any and our FV couldn't stand to their Naix.

Only down 1 set of rax bottom, we hold mid a few times but take heavy loses. Their Naix decides to rush in but get stun by Jakiro and playing Huskar just destroy his health. After that we pick em off 1 by one, rush mid, kill them a few more times and take the win.

We shouldn't have won, our supports were not that great, but hey a win is a win.

Managed to get a hold of the magazine via Zinio. Some interesting bits in it that I don't think I've seen on the internet yet.

PC Gamer UK said:
"It's tricky," Johnson tells me.

"There is a balance...Dota's a competitive game, and people are deeply invested in it, so losing is not fun, but the people who are winning are probably having a lot of fun. We don't want to dampen both sides of that equation. One of the things we never want to lose is the amazing comeback, like the game we just played - both sides probably would have surrendered in that game at certain points. That would have been a robbery of fun."

"I'm not trying to be self-deprecating, but there was no grand strategy," Johnson says. "There's a bunch of people here who were huge fans of DotA 1. We wanted to make that game, and thought we could do a good job of it."

There's a bunch of pages on an introduction to Dota 2, including an analysis of Tidehunter and how to play him, how some items are built (Armlet, Divine Rapier, and some others) a picture of the map with things pointed out on it, and there's a two-page overhead analysis of "The Play" from the Navi vs iG game at TI2 (Where iG tried to smoke gank with Naga Song and Na'Vi turned it around by LoH using BKB and Dendi Force Staffing out of Ravage and stealing it).

Some of the pages have really neat artwork in the background. One is an extended version of the cover art, as well as artwork of Tiny.

I think there will be an initial big bump for people that want to give it a go considering the attention games have been getting from the press and the fact it's valves next big game. I certainly got into mobs because of the fact valve were making one.

In order to sustain those numbers, valve need to make sure their servers are up to. They need proper tutorial to explain how the game works in a match alongside the DK v razor one. Lastly, which I think is impossible for all mobas, the community needs to sort itself out because that is what seems to top people from investing the time. Getting abused for being a cyka will put people off immediately.

Edit: still maintain this game needs a surrender function. Massive comebacks happen so rarely that I rather miss out on one then have to continually wait for a match to finish because the other team is too busy farming for end game stats screen. I can't even go afk because I'm then penalised for abandoning a game.

Are we gonna make smurf accounts and beat up all the new players

One thing I kinda liked about the beta was you needed invites. If you can just make a new account everytime there are going to be so many shit games for new players. I don't think there is going to be any real growth. Just a whole bunch of shit smurf accounts.

I've been trying to pick up Spectre, but haven't had much success. The PMS -> Phase -> Drum -> Diffusal -> Manta build is one I've tried a few times, but have two problems with it: lack of health regen and terrible farm speed, even after getting geared up a bit. I think I must be playing her wrong.

(Tranquils or Vanguard solves the first problem, and Radiance solves the second problem, but those items all come with their own downsides.)

So I didn't upgrade my Dagon on Nyx and we lost horribly. Why exactly should I not upgrade it again? Statistics show I do better when I upgrade my Dagon all the way...

The bias there is, of course, that in games where you can actually get Dagon 5, you're probably dominating so hard you could build a rapier and it wouldn't matter.

Fair enough, but I still feel like the progressing Dagon helps in bursting down those targets that I might not quite be able to get otherwise.

It's a ton of money for a couple hundred more magical damage which could be much better spent on utility items.

Because by the time you get Dagon 5, it will have progressed into late game, at which point the extra burst damage is nothing compared to something useful like blink or sheep.

Does anyone buy Veil or Orchid on Nyx instead of upgrading dagon? The damage boost must be at least worth a level or two of dagon and they also boost damage from other sources.

You lost the game because you didn't upgrade Dagon? I genuinely don't think so. A blink on Nyx is fuckin insane and stays relevant all game. Spending another 5k on 400 more magical damage gets irrelevant past the 35 min mark.

Basically if you aren't winning the game with Dagon 1 on Nyx then you aren't winning it anyway. Or if you are it's not up to you and your items

Your next items after D1 don't really matter much since if you've gotten it by the time it's effective, you've basically won the game for your team as much as you can and its up to them to get the proper farm and push. The best items to get would be Blink Sheep and Heart

I don't see the point in picking NA in pubs and playing seriously anyway. Just pick fun items since you might as well troll if you're actually picking heroes like Nyx or Treant. I like to go D1 -> e-blade -> D2 -> D3 -> D4 -> D5. But that's just me.

i like the stats, average pickup time of bkb was 26 mins, average for ac was 28 min

yeah.... conditioning that might have been appropriate...

I'm surprised that the game is going to be officially "out" so soon, I thought they would want to finish their tutorial system first. From Cyborgmatts breakdowns it looked like they were still working on the second quest
