Dota 2 Beta Thread V: Real Talk Strikes Back [Tutorials]

As Chen, on levels where I can't upgrade Holy Persuasion, should I be putting points in Penitence or Test of Faith? I've been putting it all into Test of Faith, but someone I played with today suggested Penitence is better. I always thought it was nice to help out a bit with the damage during ganks, but I guess penitence would do that as well if I cast that first. The slow would also make it easier to get my creeps in position to stun or net.

Test of Faith is significantly better (burst/reliable damage) and it has the send-back.
 
I want to change it up and give LoL a go but holy shit it's ugly and buying heroes/having only a few is so fucking stupid.

I play it now and then with my friend whose computer is too shitty to even run dota and it's just not a very good game. There's just so little to the game compared to dota. Casual really is the best word to describe it.

I think KuroKy is good, it's Funnik I'm less enthusiastic about.
 
I was always kind of hoping they'd have a unique dota 2 hero released by launch, not available in dota 1 but I don't think we'll see that for a while.

Not exactly sure about that self sustaining pro scene comment, its opposite of the stance that riot is taking, moneyhatting everything.

The laning phase is booooooooooooooooooooring. Especially support. Since my friends have clocked about 8x more hours than me in LoL, I'm stuck supporting 100% of the time.

Just want to let my brain melt and let my body do it's own thing whenever I play LoL.

What part of parity is difficult to understand?
 
Is there a possible way to win the trench simulator game lol? I gave up when I tried to pull and antimage said stack first, and then i babysit, and said I was going to stack first and he said no lol. I think that's the idea. There really is no winning in the trench.

I've been playing Dawngate and I have to agree that the LoL style pallet/design are terrible for this genre of game. Everything looks cheap and team fights just look like a muddle of bright colours and particle effects.

I won it on my second try using Veno.

Ward first, don't gank mid, pull but when WR says don't pull then don't pull, stack then pull, then babysit Anti Mage, don't take the last hit, harass Panda with Melty Hands.. Anti Mage makes Manta Style and becomes most powerful carry in the game.

In a true trench game you can play the support fine but the Anti Mage player wouldn't have his BF farmed by 25-30 mins while not contributing anything to the team.
 
I think to truely simulate trench you need to pick a carry then have all 4 members of your team wait for the creeps to spawn into the game before picking carries themselves.

didn't think the hero could change the outcome. iwas playing windrunner and both my spells wouldn't do anything to panda. though i did other things differently like going mid and killing enigma

also i tried pulling more than once in an attempt and pudge came and raped me
 
What does ignoring a player do outside a game? Does it stop me from being matchmaked with them, because seriously, there are some people out there [insert non-original rant]

Sometimes you have to be with a wildebeast to realize how good you have it at home.
 
You just have to accept that not every MOBA can be doto.

Once you get over that hurdle it's not hard to have fun with other cheap imitations.
 
If you were to literally just add denies into LoL, it'd be a significantly better game for me. The interaction between players in lanes is just so low compared to dota.
 
I dipped my toes in MOBAs by playing about 10-15 games of LoL, and did pretty good using Nunu (in absolute novice lobbies).

Then I played about 93 matches of Dota 2 and I can't play LoL anymore. Like I don't know what to do in the laning phase besides dance in front of creeps and hiding in bushes.

I have a lot of fun playing supports in Dota like KOTL, Veno, Tront or Rasta. While my carry is doing stuff, I'm pulling lanes, putting wards, denying creeps or bullying the other guys in lane. I don't know if LoL has these kind of heroes or if these mechanics even exist.

I don't think I've ever seen someone play support in my LoL matches. Its always been 5 AP/AD carries vs 5 AP/AD carries. But my knowledge about LoL is way more limited than my Dota 2 knowledge, so I might be talking out of my ass.
