Dota 2 Shanghai Major 2016 (March 2-6): Double Rainbowj

Not like I wanted to watch that fight or anything.

Russian stream is still fine. Because apparently they have their own team that knows what they're doing instead of the clown car that is the English casters

I thought I must of had a mix up of which host was which (Godz to me sounded drunk at the start of Day 1). What did 2GD say that got him kicked? I can only assume he must have done something off camera.

I don't know, leading with "cunts" and a masturbation joke about disabled people in the first five minutes of broadcast might be enough as well.

He's Slacks tier, and should stick to doing what Slacks does, produce a video every day or whatever and show it once or twice a day.

As for the rest of the panel/production, almost everything does need to get better. Less time with the panel and a shorter delay overall as well. I guess I'm not caring that much since I just turn the stream off as soon as the panel appears anyways. Maybe they can split the panel into two groups, one for post game analysis and one for prediction stuff. Also, where are the other time fillers, like story pieces or IDK panning shots of Shanghai or what the teams are doing on their downtime when they aren't practicing?

I was fun while it lasted, I never cared/watched the panels, talk, between games but 2GD made me watch it, was entertaining guess I'll just skip it now.

Hiring 2gd to host a prestigious tournament was a mistake, firing him like they did was a mistake. More importantly you have massive delays and issues, terrible audio, terrible production, and occasional freezing and the stream going down. The whole thing is an unmitigated clusterfuck. 0/10

Can't wait to tune in tonight, fall asleep waiting for the first game of the day to start, and waking up to a delay for the final game of the day.

Yea, I've never liked Yames and wasn't excited to seen him hosting, but kicking him out at this point is unprofessional. It's not even like he went full on yames yet.

they fired 2GD? jesus christ what the fuck?

Seems incredibly likely they didn't tell him how they wanted him to conduct it so he just fucked around.

They actually told him before the event to be himself.

Someone said it might have been because he extended a segment by 30 minutes when production told him to go on break.
To that I say he wouldn't have needed to do that if we didn't get delays that long. But sure have fucking overlays with shitty music with no indication of when the games are going to start again instead of a panel that I can listen to in the background so I know when games start up again.

yeah, just saw that. Clearly this tournament is being run by people who don't know shit about running a dota tournament judging by the obscene numbers of technical issues (can't even get mics anywhere near equalized? you kidding?) and now this.

cunt is used very differently in the uk

he isnt slacks tier at all, in different circumstances james could have easily been on tv here. yeah he can be crass and doesn't take it very seriously but its fucking esports. james is one of the best personalities in dota and i hope he gets reinstated or something. then again maybe he doesnt want to deal with this circus.

The English side of things weren't at DAC as far as I remember.
They set up their own production somewhere else(so they had way more control over things) which made for a pretty decent viewing experience.

This time KeyTV(I think some Chinese company) is handling the English production side of things.

I can't watch it live because I'm at work/asleep when it's on, but at least the Dota is still good right? And you can skip past the pauses in the replays.

I've only been able to watch a few games live but the games have been good in my opinion. Unexpected surprises too, which should make for a good playoffs.

And the Battle Pass was worth the price of admission alone in my opinion. Yes the group stages production values are trash so far, but who knows, maybe Valve whips China into shape before the playoffs start?

Team Spirit, Fnatic, and MVP are all punch well above their (perceived) weight class so far. Makes for some really exciting matches.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure for DAC they were doing it in Beyond the Summit's LA Studio.

Wait, they are using a translator in the production room. I guess it makes sense with how long it was taking for the production to put up stats after the analysts asked for it. This whole tournament is just a giant shit show. Valve really needs to get their stuff together for the Chinese tournaments. They really just need to have an English speaking crew working with the English cast. Have Joindota or BTS bring over the guys that do production and have them run the production.

I don't know full story, pumpernickl's posts on Reddit seems to imply the same disastrous production company for the other bad event was doing some part of the Eng stream (could be the feed idk). And then there's this person who wasn't supposed to be doing some part of the production, who is apparently doing production.

So yeah it's a shitshow.

wow.

I wouldn't care as much if this was still just DAC or whatever 3rd party tournament, but if Valve is going to stamp their name on a tournament, they need to have much better oversight that it's going to be a suitable product for viewers and a professional setting for the players.
