What is this faulconer stuff? Americans didn't get the original japanese soundtrack? That's kinda sad, it's classic stuff man. :P

I'm really looking forward to this. I like the original DB much more, but this could turn DBZ into awesomeness.

Just for when it aired on TV. The dvds have the Japanese soundtrack.

To be fair Voice Actors is longer than Seiyu. So at least, that works in his favor!

Just fucking say the word that it means!
I was watching an episode of Great Teacher Onizuka the other day and I took a screen cap of the sub saying "Ganbatte! (Good Luck)", but both paint and ps posted a black single layer image (screen-capped from vlc) :(

It could have been a smash hit...

"koe no haiyū" means voice acting. "Seiyu" was coined/became widespread after the huge popularity burst fueled anime. Since "Seiyu" was coined in the past 20 years or whatever, to me it symbolizes Japanese who do voice acting as a career rather than someone randomly lending their voice.

Also... people on gaf like to bitch when people say iTouch or something. I bet you would. It's the same thing. Not using the recent coined term.

I would be hyped if this was a complete remake with the character designs from the Buu Arc carrying over for the whole series. Alas, it's not. It's like one step above the FUNi hack job (reframing the crop per scene at least) which is like taking a less painful shit.

=(

Seriously, people? This is basic shorthand here.

Seiyuu = Japanese voice actor
VA = American voice actor

It's not like he called the music section "ongaku" or something.

It's completely different and, imo, totally inappropriate for the show. Especially the opening and closing songs, they're so fucking random. :lol

Faulconer ftw. :D

I think the original JP music had a more old school karate movie vibe, which fit just fine. Plus every situation had a theme that actually fit the feelings of the characters at that time. All Faulconer's stuff just seemed to sound the same after awhile. Solid State Scouter ftw.

Faulconer did have his own style which may have seemed like it would sound the same but if you listen closely you'll notice it got a lot different later on after the android saga. The best ones (which sound the same to most people) are of course the fights, but shit, that's what made it so awesome in the first place.

If this ever comes to US I really hope they let him do his thing. Remixes and new stuff from him would be to good to be true.

That's exactly what I hated about it. There would be some epic shit happening on screen, and the background music would sound so cheesy. It was a huge disconnect. That kind of music works much better for DB than Z, imo.

His fighting music was awesome (and there was always a lot of variation to them, as you said), but I think his best ones were the individual character themes. He also did a lot of great calm music that I think goes unnoticed, (like Gohan's Innocence or 16's Theme) but they really worked well for their scenes.

Both soundtracks start to get repetitive quickly, however what pisses me off is the English version of DBZ won't shut up with the damned music. There are tons of "quiet" moments within DBZ that play out just fine with no BGM. The English version of that features Falconers droning buttsynth continuously, assaulting your ears relentlessly. It's like FUNimation thought that if something isn't playing every second of the show than something is wrong. It's god awful. Of course, I don't blame Falconer for that, but his stuff becomes grating because of it.

That's one of my biggest complaints about Funi's dub. Some of Faulconer's character themes are pretty sweet (Vegeta, Perfect Cell, etc), but the rest of it is non-stop generic buttsynth that never lets up. I'm sure Funi came to that decision through a focus group, and I'd like to punch each of those little children that reacted positively to it right in the face. :P

VA is shorter than both! :o

Or he could have used you know, the normal english term of something like this, which is..... CAST!

I don't get why people bitch when some say iTouch instead of iPod Touch.

But IMO using Japanese instead of english is pretty retarded and weaboo like.

The thing with "seiyu" is that it doesn't matter if it was a recently coined term its Japanese and GAF is an english language forum. So there's no point for pretentious anime geeks here to roll out their J-GAF conversion keikakus.

I defer to my previous statement.

I was planning to create a separate Cast (trying to keep cat titles to one word) category for the English VAs if and when Funi licenses the show. Trying to be a little fucking creative with this OP, and look what it gets me. :lol

CD Japan put up pre-orders for the CD singles of Dragon Soul and Yeah! Break! Care Break!

Dragon Soul Single Regular Edition
Dragon Soul Single Limited Edition

Yeah! Break! Care Break! Single Regular Edition
Yeah! Break! Care Break! Single Limited Edition

They mispelled Yeah! as Year! :lol

"Yeah! Break! Care! Break!"

It has already been established that it is a play on words, similar to Cha-La-Head-Cha-La. The word it is referencing is the Japanese word "yaburekabure," or, in English, "utter desperation."

Cha-la-head-cha-la was a play on words? :O

EDIT: Thanks Docpan! Mind blown

Chara Hetchara

"Hetchara" is a slang term meaning "it's no problem," or "I can handle it."

The more you know.

Okay, now explain to me "sparkle, sparkle, the galaxy's a popcorn shower."

=P

Slang terminology for "I want you to shower me in semen."

OK, this one might not be true. Maybe.

So ready to see this series. Been counting down the days.

My group never did that when we subbd the series. I hate that.

I have a task for you. Flip your story around and tell me why we say manga when its literal English translation is whimsical pictures and it's definition is comic? Perhaps because... it... implies the Japanese style? As... seiyu implies Japanese voice actors? Anime(taken from the Japanese pronunciation of animation), manga, Seiyuu all support and popularize each other with their unique Japanese influenced terms.

Coin up and admit you and the other guy just like to bitch about trivial things.

"Jump Hour! Dream 9!"

Toei updated the official website with Tenshinhan's replacement: Hikaru Midorikawa. He previously played 16 and Paikuhan in DBZ.
