Trojita said:I haven't been watching Kai since I kind of got disinterested after find out that they censored some of the blood and injuries, but in the original I don't believe Goku was fighting at his full strength against Ginyu and didn't the scouter get messed up?
Lmao. Yeah Piccolo's rise to power is definitely the most crazy. I think the official power was 800,000 while Frieza was 1,000,000 - but Piccolo beat Frieza's second form since he's a better fighter.Oblivion said:When Goku used the kaio-ken against Ginyu, I don't think he was using his full power, was he? I thought it was a kaio-ken x 1?
I agree that the power jump with Vegeta after the Recoome fight was strange as shit.
Vegeta on Earth fully powered up: 18,000
Vegeta when landing on Namek: 24,000
Vegeta after the Zarbon fight: Somewhere around 30,000.
Vegeta after Recoome fight: 500,000+?!?!??!!
But what's even worse than that little instance, is with Piccolo.
Piccolo when he died against Nappa: ~3,000
Piccolo after he had 6 days of training on King Kai's planet: ???
Nail at full power: 42,000
Piccolo + Nail: 1,000,000+? :lol :lol :lol

Season one part 2 releases in sept right?
Vegetta is not a match for Goku in any part of the story except the Sayians Attack period!GaimeGuy said:![]()
My favorite shot. God damn does vegeta look awesome
Edit: BTW, Byakuya, I kind of find it funny rewatching the Ginyu eps in Kai: When you think about it, Ginyu was actually stronger than Goku was, and would have gotten weaker by switching bodies, even if he got fully used to it. Goku was using the Kaioken when he fought Ginyu. That means goku's base power was actually 90,000 , which was less than Ginyu's 120,000. Ginyu owned himself. :lol
also: Goku is so cheap through the entirity of DBZ up through when he transforms it is unbelievable when you think about it.
"Hey, I'm outmatched. But I can double my power! Triple! Quadruple! x10! x20! HURRRRRRRR"
Actually when you think about it, the only time Goku actually surpasses vegeta for good in strength is after he trains with gohan in the HTC. Before that, Goku is stronger than vegeta:
#1: When he lands on Namek and takes on the Ginyu Force.
#2: After transforming into a SSJ, while Vegeta hasn't.
Vegeta seemed to be close in power to Frieza's first form after being healed by the senzu bean, and far outmatched Picollo and most likely Frieza's 2nd and 3rd forms after being healed by Dende.
It is really ridiculous how much the series makes Vegeta play second fiddle even when he is far stronger than Goku for the vast majority of the story :lol Any other time Goku appears stronger than Vegeta is because of a technique that allows him to multiply his power by ridiculous factors.
</Vegeta fanboy>
Tien is the worst of all. Dude trains probably harder than everyone but Vegeta and gets no love. At all.

Yeah, you'll have to live with it unfortunately. They're old drawings, and when they're of low quality they "redrew" (read: sloppily retraced) them. Somewhere during the Namek saga you'll start seeing it less, as the original drawings seem to have retained most of their quality for some reason from that moment.Trickster said:So uhm, I just started watching DB:Kai.
The only thing I'm curious about is what the hell is up with all the stuff that looks like it's been hastely remade in flash? It looks like garbage to put it mildly, and the fact that some scenes will keep changing between original animation and flash animation is really jarring.

Yup. Picollo just fought Cell's first form, and it looks like he'll transform in the next episode.Takao said:Kai's just about the get into the Cell stuff, right? Haha, that's going to be fun.
VGChampion said:I really wish Funimation would move faster with the DVD's. Not sure where the DVD's are in Japan right now but after buying Disc 1 I'm all pumped up for post - Freeza episodes. I feel like I've watched the beginning of DBZ 10x over but only really watched post - Freeza once. Maybe twice. Definitely only did Majin Buu once when it was first premiered and sadly, I'm not sure if I ever watched every. single. episode.
Scouter's disappear after Namek though right? Once power levels weren't officially known anymore I enjoyed the fights a lot more.
Anth0ny said:The thing that saddens me is that, somehow, the Dragon Boxes are dragged into this ; _ ;
SameSeda said:I never really paid attention to power levels. I always wanted to believe that one's fighting prowess was incalculable. How good of a fighter someone was had to do with the willpower to win, effort, and battle intelligence and things like that. I think that better fit Goku's ideals of always trying to make himself a better fighter. It's a bit more enjoyable that way IMO.
I'll probably buy the first Kai set on Blu ray soon.
Takao said:Anyways, HOLY FUCK OCEAN IS DUBBING KAI!!! This time from a source that isn't a man from Texas talking about things in another country, and then deleting said things. Now I'm actually interested in Kai... For those wondering, the Ocean cast of Dragon Ball were the casts who did the 1995 13 episode + movie one dub of Dragon Ball, the first 53 episodes + first three movies of Dragon Ball Z in a Saban/Funimation/Ocean love in before doing the post Season Three stuff only for Canada and Europe.
Anth0ny said:Not gonna lie, as much as I couldn't care less about dubs, I'm fucking hyped for a new Ocean dub. Will it be uncut? Same voice actors as the DBZ dub? Will we hear Drummond deliver Over 9000 once again? :lol
Choppasmith said:Anyway, this prompted me to catch a couple episodes of Kai on Nicktoons for the first time and wow, really is great. The new Funi voice for Bulma really sounds more like Ocean Bulma (again coming off of watching the Ocean dubbed movies) than the old Funi voice ever did. It looks clean and.. is the music track replaced again, or is straight from the Japanese version of Kai? I love it either way.
Choppasmith said:Really interested in catching this now, but I'm curious where the US broadcast is at and aside from seeing that Popo edit, if there were any other notable US changes.
I know I probably have my nostagia googles on a bit too tight, but I've always liked the Ocean dub more than funimations. I'll probably bite it turns out like I'd hope it would.Takao said:The CW broadcast is kind of becoming a bit hilarious.

There's also some new shots of Plan to Eradicate the Super Sayians up on Andria Sang.

Brian Drummond was hilarious - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT9ue7-yG1k
It's straight from the Japanese version of Kai, which is an all-new score separate from the old series.
Igoritza said:hi ya all - im the DBZ guru, meaning that i have an explanation for everything you want to know about the series which is bothering you. power levels, reasoning of events and such.
on the other hand, my comment of 71 - how awesome that guy Krillin is, fighting Cell. most favorite character, to bad Toryama made such a gap between sayans and humans.
The Dragon Ball Z DVDs have horrible digital noise reduction that take out a lot of actual details from the animation. The Dragon Box DVDs are supposed to be the show minus the awful DNR. Kai is, well, you know that already. That's my understanding. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.Giard said:Hey guys, I'm looking by curiosity at DVD sets, and I was wondering what's the difference between these...
Dragon Box
Dragonball Z
Dragonball Z Kai
So kai is the remade one, with no filler....Dragonball Z is the one that aired on TV in America and Japan....what's the Dragonbox one? Not too sure where it goes.

I still hear the Ocean voices in my head when I think of English DBZ, but that may just be because of all the times they would replay those first 50 or so episodes while we were waiting for new episodes to come out.Blader5489 said:I think I agree with this, more or less, but that might just be because that's how I experienced the show: Ocean's dub for the first 50ish episodes and Funi for the rest.
