Snaku said:The remastering of the original film negatives by Toei is in a word pristine. You'll never be able to buy DBZ looking or sounding better than this, and not for much longer either. Funi recently confirmed that the Dragon Boxes will be a limited release, and once they sell out they're gone. Box 2 going out of stock at several retailers including Rightstuf first alerted the DB community, but has since been restocked with a limited print run.

Kagari said:Going to order those sets soon... but why do I have some terrible feeling that Funi will release another set somewhere down the line... I already got burned by buying seasons 1-3 in the orange bricks a while ago :/

jambo said:I have the orange digitally remastered Season 1-7 boxes and every now and then when watching them I get annoyed by the widescreen technique they used that cuts off the top and bottom. Is there a good box set around that has the show in 4:3 and includes the English soundtrack. The Dragon Boxes were looking good, but then I saw that they use the Japanese soundtrack.
Halp.

Completely agree. The English music is where my childhood is at. The Japanese audio sounds like garbage.Seda said:Edit: I prefer the orange brick releases simply for nostalgia because it has the broadcast music I remember when I watched this growing up. I know that the Japanese music is original, but it just feels off when I watch it. I know I'm in the minority though. I'm not really a DBZ purist or anything like that..

Takao said:True Story: Monster Rancher's score has been recylced no less than two times. Once in the alternate dub for DragonBall Z, and again for the Deltora Quest dub. Ocean's getting mileage out of that.

I feel the opposite. I like it because it gets to the point and it's fast. It was boring having to wait weeks for a new episode where it was just 20 minutes of pure reaction shots. It was boring. At least with this one, it gets to the action right away and doesn't waste showing anything useless. I like the new music as well, though I'm sure it's just using the Japanese soundtrack over the US one. Still, I was never fan of the horrible Japanese voices so this music is new to me, and it surprisingly fits it very well. As for the voice acting, I still hate Gohan's new music and Frieza's original voice was so much better. Regarding the censorship, I'm not really surprises since it's airing on Nicktoons Network. I'm positive the DVD releases aren't censored...right?Bad_Boy said:I watched a couple episodes of this. Honestly I don't like it. Fillers made dbz for me. The new music sucks. No blood. And the voice acting seems worse from what I remember, has that changed?

Frieza is the one villain whose dub voice is always inferior to the original japanese voice. Which is a shame, because he's by far the most iconic villain in the entire DB saga, and by extension, one of the most iconic in manga/anime. He's supposed to sound like an evil nobleman, not Rita Repulsa, which is how he sounded in Z. and even in Kai, it felt like funi was trying to meet halfway between Rita Repulsa and evil nobleman. Just awful, especially when you compare it to the other main villains.Rewrite said:I feel the opposite. I like it because it gets to the point and it's fast.
