Dragon Ball Super |OT2| June 12: Judgment Day

if Gohan and Piccolo have a comeback, this might be pretty interesting.

also, a plus is that Piccolo has always been my fav characater and Gohan is my brother's fav character of the series.

I wonder if Frost
is a literal alternate Freeza or what the deal with his race is in Universe 6. Obviously he didn't care enough to (or couldn't) enslave the Saiyans, but his bio still lists him as emperor.

Gohan finally got good character development by wearing his own god damn clothes to a fight

hope they don't mess him up

I'm on episode 20 and I still can't believe what I just saw:

Toei, that was a fucking open layup. And you got an air ball. Literally the easiest filler you could do. Filler that would actually be interesting for the viewer, instead of just fucking stretching out a fight like you did with Goku vs. Beerus.

But nah, fuck thinking of new shit. Just take the movie and stretch out what's already there rather than writing something new.

Literally fucking baffled. They could have EASILY done an episode or two of Freeza's training and that would have been so interesting and different. EVERYONE I talked to coming out of Revival of F had the same criticism: "It felt rushed. Why didn't they show any of Freeza's training?" Dragon Ball Super is the perfect vehicle for filling in some of the blanks from that story. But nah.

Fuck Toei.

They padded out the wrong movie. Shame BoG came first. I wouldn't be surprised if the Super adaptation got bad reception in Japan.

I'd appreciate a team A avy if someone could hook me up. Only preference I have is that it be SSJ Gohan. Something with him crying or screaming in pain with some text saying I lost would probably work good for this bet.

This is honestly some delicious crow. I simply lost hope in Gohan doing anything significant. Much happier with him training.

Yup, pretty much. Love Cabba aesthetically. This guy/gal just reeks badass.

I wouldn't exactly call Goku vs Freeza stretched out like the Beerus fight.

Well I'm going to need a Gohan avatar, and a bet is a bet so if someone was kind enough to make one for me, that will be real sweet of you.

Good to hear. I'll be watching those episodes today and tomorrow.

Nonetheless, the fact that they skipped forward 4 months and decided not to tell ANY stories within that timeframe just baffles me. Like... that's what Dragon Ball Super is for. Considering how great the Mr. Satan and Goku/Vegeta training with Whis episodes were, I would have loved to see a Freeza training episode or just more random adventures on Earth with the kids or Tien or Piccolo SOMETHING.

Whatever. New stuff starts tomorrow. I'm excited :)

Overall I did like the Super version of the RoF events more. Though it was obvious Toei really wanted to get through it quickly to prepare for the new content.

Are there any gifs or stills or anything of the cool stuff Gohan's done? I mean, he has done super cool awesome shit by now right? People aren't getting hyped to hell over "I should train". Like, he's actually proven he's still got it and is just as cool as he used to be when he was the kid who saved the world? Right?

Honestly I'm just glad the RoF saga is over with really, I mean yeah it's like "this totally needs expanding on because wtf kind of 4 months could do that"... but I just don't think there could possibly be a reason that I'd enjoy so screw it whatever move on.

And yeah the show version is absolutely improved over the movie, patching up a few problems of it, but it's just not much for actually expanding on anything. I came into this saga with a "get it over with" approach and I'm moderately pleased with the result.

Yes

But really, this scene shows that Gohan still has a shit load of power. It is just that his current body can't sustain the power for long.

To be fair they sort of explained it with Tagoma, who was Freeza's training partner for those months and suffered to the point of death before being regenerated each day.

As a hardcore Gohan fan, the best we got so far is uh...

uhh....

Pretty much just an explanation for Tagoma though! Which I did enjoy, Togama turned out awesome... until well.... yeah....

Kinda sucks that they can't do blood anymore. Gohan just getting impaled by Freeza death beams over and over and somehow there is no blood at all looked weak.

It's weird to think One Piece is much bloodier than Super. Though Super the hits and fighting is definitely much harder.

I'm realizing I should probably just join in on the Gohan avatar train while the frenzy's hot

So how do you guys think Gohan will receive his power up? Whis training?

He's gonna study the hell out of his ki!

Piccolo's "training" is just bringing him hot choco during his studies because he's the best dad

back in my day freeza beating the piss outta you meant BLOOD

You know.

The most disappointing thing for me was that Vegeta didn't even seem to care the guy who murdered the entire Saiyan race came back, and he wasn't filled with rage.

This wasn't Vegeta growing up or anything either I think, they just glossed over it. The one time you can hold a grudge and not seem childish is against the guy who committed genocide against your race.

Did anyone think it was weird that they killed Piccolo in the last arc, made an offhand remark about wishing him back with the Namek DBs and he just shows up at the party like "hey guys whatever"

Like I get that death in DB is ridiculously cheap but they don't even show him being wished back or anything.

Nope, death has almost been completely trivialized in this series. It actually didn't surprise me at all lol. I just rolled with it.

It's been trivialized for a while now. Hopefully if they swap Earths, the Dragon Balls stop working.

I keep saying the last arc needs to have the villain destroy Namek and all dragon balls everywhere, then fight the good guys so the stakes are actually high.

You can bet the dragon who made the Super Dragon Balls is gonna show up at one point, at least.

whether the viewers like it or not the viewer numbers are there, it's constantly in the top 10 anime each week with around 5 rating each week

it will be interesting to see if the ratings go up once we hit this new content.

that is the sadest thing about rewatching db kai with my wife. all the scenes that go on and on "he is gonna die, he can't die I don't know what we would do without him. DONT DIE... awe he died... where are the dragon balls. YAY HE IS ALIVE"

death has no meaning, and the drama they try to build up around the dangers of death is so pointless in a world where you can easily grab magic balls to bring people back.

at least by the cell games they stop trying it and literally just go.. "eh if satan kills himself we can just revive him."
