Best DBS episode is "The Terrifying Zero Mortals Plan". I think it's like 61. That episode has everything. It had the reveal of how Goku Black came to be, the death of Chichi & Goten, the Zamas/Black bro hug, Goku losing his shit, Goku backhand to Zamas, Black's fuckin Ki Scimatar, & it was all topped off with Trunks going SSR.

One of the best of ALL Dragon Ball for sure.

I just realized something reading dragon ball again. I wonder if Master Roshi could gather intel by mind reading people like he did with Namu early on.

Yeah, really loved this ep, too.

SUBARASHII

From Herms about the newest manga chapter:

Turns out, manga-Trunks can use Kibito-style healing powers because he trained as Kaioshin's disciple.
Goku has "completed" SSB: by sealing its overflowing power within his body, he can fight at full power for long periods of time.
Which enables him to hold his own against Merged Zamasu. Knowing this, Vegeta insists Trunks heals Goku first.
Narrator: "Which will cave first, [Zamasu's] Potara fusion or Goku's body?!" How about a Genkai-Dama sword?

Yeah... gotta say that anime Zamasu saga was better in the end.

EDIT: More...
Trunks became Kaioshin's disciple via a day-long funky dance ceremony...just like the first part of Elder Kaioshin's power-up. Coincidence?
But he can only heal one person, and it seems to take a lot out of him.

Can't remember, did Trunks train with Shin in the anime? It could explain his impromptu spirit bomb. Not through direct training, but familiarity with the spirit bomb technique.

Trunks going SSR is one of my favourite transformations ever. His pupil-less eyes, his body flexing (though I wish it damaged his clothes), and his loud foot stomps.

SO GOOD.

Isn't the Spirit Bomb a King Kai technique though?
Is it exclusively King Kai's? I feel like the Kaioken is exclusively his,
but that the Spirit Bomb could just be a rare technique, maybe a Kai only one, but not unique to King Kai.

No, the Supreme Kai left a set of instructions instead of actually being there like in the manga.
Oh dang, there goes that theory then.

Ode to Son Goten
A free verse poem by L Thammy

Little Goku
is the best gimmick you could think of
Kamehameha is your only move
and you still can't get the name right

When you use with Trunks
you might actually be worthwhile
better find those earrings
'cause you need him to de-boring you

We all went to space
and we left you home
better than your lucky stars
because though GT is pretty bad
it would still be worse
if you had more screentime

You're a teenager now
though you look like a child
It's because you aren't worth
a new character design

Your daddy was dead
he missed years of your life
but he doesn't feel that bad
because even he forgets you

We have no son,
Goten

My first reaction is a complete, what?

Trunks can heal like Kibito-style healing powers because he trained as Kaioshin's disciple... Yeah I have to call BS on that one and if he can heal before why did he need Senzu. Is there some kind of limit?

"Goku has "completed" SSB: by sealing its overflowing power within his body, he can fight at full power for long periods of time"

So basically the manga version of Kaioken? Well, now we can't saw that the anime made up stuff about Goku going against Merged Zamasu or Vegeta being stronger. Strike against Vegeta fanboys everywhere.

And I am really surprised this saga is still going unless it does end and the pages aren't out yet. I do like that Toyo is taking his time, but he cut out the mystery of Black and his relationship with Gok for this?....okay....

People really should be wary of casting judgement over spoilers by now. It happens with the anime and the manga and it usually ends up being better/fine when you see how it's actually handled.

I agree with this. There have been a few things that I thought were unsatisfying story wise, but nothing I would genuinely call bad. Except for the twist with Frost. That was lame.

It's insane to think that the anime ends up executing better than the manga. Historically, it's been the reverse.

At this point it's clear the anime is the definitive version of DB Super. The manga is a straight up mess.

I am not casting judgement. I am commenting on the spoilers.

So far it seems Goku mastered Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan and can hold his own against Merged Zamasu when Vegeta can't despite all his training. Which actually supports the anime where Goku managed to melt half of Merged Zamasu's face with an overcharged Kamehameha. In short, Goku > Vegeta. This seems to be supported in both the anime (despite the denials) and the manga, meaning this is from Toriyama.

Trunks being able to heal, I personally hate people getting Supreme Kai techniques. I hated it in Multiverse when Vegetto and Bra got Instant Movement and I hate it now. It doesn't help that it seems to come out of nowhere. Like, some foreshadowing for Trunks' healing ability other than 'I trained with the Supreme Kai'. Like, could this been shown in the Future Majin Buu Saga? Give that chapter some reason to exist other than the paper thin, Black was looking for a timeline without Beerus?

Vegetto is even more useless in the manga than he was in the anime. While I don't have a problem with that necessarily since I didn't want Vegetto, I find it funny that Vegetto in the manga exists to shave off a few minutes to wait for Merged Zamasu to defused. In the anime, Vegetto actually weakened Merged Zamasu and gave Trunks the opening to 'kill' him.
So far, this is a very strange chapter. I will give Toyo credit for taking me off-guard.

Te pure wrongness always makes me laugh and creep me out. It's also jarring given how dark, depression, and tense the episode is.

This is exactly why I love the episode.

But how? Goku shouldn't be stronger than Vegeta since he never trained in the chamber. Hell, in the beginning of the arc they seemed to be even.

oh wow...DBS thread...I've been looking for you! Subscribed.

As a Vegata fan, I have to say, I'm lukewarm on Super so far. Seems like it was going to be more than Vegeta being a side-kick to Goku, finally exploring (what I feel is the most interesting character) him in detail. Some bright spots for me though. Vegeta having a history with Beerus, being more of a tactician than Goku, outwardly showing he cares about his family now, overall good stuff, just want to him to be more than the typical side kick 'I won't let Kakarot surpass me!!!" deal...

-_-

So over that...If he can't be the strongest, at least make his the best tactical fighter or something.

Vegeta is the most developed character in all of Z, and so far Super.
Gohan's finally getting close.

Y'all are trash which in Dbs terms means tien tier

One of them is in the tournament, one of them isn't. One of them isn't part of the "10 strongest warriors".

If I'm Tien tier, then Goten is Yamcha tier.

You'll get family man Vegeta and you'll like it, the only reason he's even in this tournament is because Whis time hacked his baby. Goku will get a new form whilst Vegeta is stuck with poacher bashing level SSB.

Really? I have to go back and watch everything, I've just been skimming through the big fights. (Some episodes have lousy animations! sheesh!)

Hopefully my opinion changes when I digest the show in its entirety.

Do people think Goku will just get a new form? Or that he's been saving one?

If it's he's been saving one, that's inconsistent with the story, since the idea was he wasn't keeping up with his training and was getting rusty, that was the whole reason for the tournament.

Vegeta put a pacifier in his mouth.

In seriousness, yeah if you want Vegeta to be the strongest, it'll be a little disapointing, he gets wrecked by several characters to make Goku look stronger, but one thing that's apparent in Super is Goku doesn't win a lot of his fights either. In the
universal survival arc.
Vegeta had more wins than Goku.

For me what makes him the most developed character is how far he's come. In the first few episodes he honored a promise from the Buu arc to take his son out on a vacation. A few episodes later he gets a burst of energy surpassing Goku's SSJ3, when his wife is hurt. The
Future Trunks arc
is when we really start seeing Vegeta grow as a character.
Being so invested in helping his son. The way he talks to Future Trunks, telling him there's still hope and not to give up. Furious that Future Bulma died. Giving that beat down on Black. Caring about Future Mai. Bringing the survivors of Black and Zamasu's wrath food. Being disgusted at the idea of Goku never kissing Chichi.
Then the episode where
Bra is born
is kind of the culmination of Vegeta's development, pacing around thinking of names, taking things in, laughing at the excitement, worrying about Bulma and the baby.

Dadgeta is here to stay. He had a cool dynamic with Future Trunks but I'm glad the series has returned to giving us the Goku/Gohan relationship instead.

Have to disagree here. It wasn't implied Goku and Vegeta were equals at the start of the arc. Black called Goku the strongest while Vegeta was an appetizer. So it was always implied that Goku was stronger if you take Black at his word and I see no reason for him to lie here.

Did he call him that in the manga?

Though Tien got utterly destroyed:

Goku stomped him pretty completely and easily. Didn't break a sweat, did a chunk of the fight in weighted clothes, found multiple flaws in Tien's techniques.
