Yea, perhaps it could've been condensed somewhat, but I appreciate it as well. Better this than to have characters like Kale, Cauli, etc. come out of nowhere and expect us to give a shit about them. And then of course for our protagonists, it's actually making them relevant all relevant again, even ones like 17 who we haven't seen in forever. Had to go through some BS regarding how much stronger some of them have gotten, but overall, worth it in the long run. Hopefully it pays off in spades in the short-term with this tournament though.

The gods and some of the other angels know its a bullshit cop out to save face. Zeno isn't some omnipotent being and is basically a childlike individual who doesn't even have the memory or attention span to remember a tournament it suggested in the first place. We see this same shit when the leader of the dog group asks for his universe to be spared the weakest universe after the plan for universal destruction was already in place and on a whim Zeno oks it. Guess that plan wasn't set in cement right. Showing up to destroy Trunk's universe from a call from Goku not even aware what was happening in a universe it rules over. Beerus and Whis both tried to stop Goku because they were already aware of how Zeno makes spontaneous potentially dangerous child like decisions. Goku was the catalyst for this whole thing and everyone knows it even with the Grand Priest saying it wasn't they all dismissed his words because they know its bullshit no different from your boss at work feeding you some bullshit.

I actually want Satan to be the replacement fighter and by luck or chance, he is the last man standing in the fight so he can proclaim to be the strongest of all universes.

I'd have preferred in some ways if Goku and co. had gone to each universe separately to encounter new characters that would be fleshed out. Seems like they're just churning character designs out atm and not putting much thought into it. With any luck they'll actually develop a lot of these over time. But yeah, for a few of them it's not a good first impression.

So I haven't watched Super yet. I watched Battle of Gods and no thanks'ed out of Super. I do however see some clips here and there on FB. I really don't like what this series has become. I was already really disappointed with Goten and Trunks being Super Saiyan out of the blue, but Super Saiyan is now being
reduced to activating a tingly feeling in your back? The effort that Goku went though to become SSJ.. You just felt it was something special. Now it's a party trick..

You need to work out the balance though, what can't you overlook, and will it really ruin watching the first proper DB content in years for you? If you miss out on the amazing shit that's in there just because someone's hair isn't parted right then I would question that decision.

There was a mystery surrounding Trunks' and Goten's transformation: they we SSJ out of nowhere are everyone in the series was baffled by it. There was no explanation how it happened. I didn't like it. What I also didn't like was how Goku "showed" Trunks and Goten how to become SSJ3 and Gotenks went SSJ3 after just having watched Goku do it. However, the "tingly" feeling is an explanation of how one becomes SSJ.
There is some more substantial critique I have of Super though. To give an example.
- When Beerus met Goku, he defeated Goku SSJ3 with a flick of a finger and a push.
- A couple of hours later, while Beerus is still holding back quite a lot, he's landing punching on Beerus.
That is a rediculous power boost in a rediculously short time. It only gets worse after that. Android 17 giving SSJB a challenge? I doesn't matter how much Goku held back, just a touch by SSJB should get 17 in a coma.
17 has infinite energy and it took him 13 years.
What's your take on Gohan ? He reached SSB level in two hours.
Or Future Trunks, that reached it in literally 4 seconds ?

Half blood son Gohan has his hidden power, it's possible half blood Trunks has it too but it's never come out before. I agree it should be explained how Trunks suddenly could kill Zamasu but it could be that.
17 was stronger than the saiyans and the hybrids, as well as Frieza, though.
He got taken out because of time travel. His biology makes him a rather unique being, I don't see why some decided he can't get that strong when countless people have done so.
Also this brings another problem.
Gohan and Trunks have both been exposed to dreadful situations yet none of them triggered those god level power ups until the story conveniently decided it was time for it to happen.

Isn't the whole "tingly feeling in the back" thing likely only for the U6 Sayians? They're not biologically identical to U7's, and it's pretty different from how SSJ has worked (and continues to work) for the protagonists.

I agree with you on 17, I was meaning SSB couldnt finish Fuzed Zamasu but Trunks somehow did. Thats my theory, he has a hidden power like gohan. I agree it was convenient but it is fiction at the end of the day.

Power scaling. When they reach their rage boost via training or unlocking they now have a new level set. Same reason Goku didnt go straight to SS2 or 3.
I mean, Trunks and Gohan should be that strong. I have nothing against that.
My only problem is how they had it happen all of a sudden. Trunks being the absolute worst.

Odd thing is that this episode's writer didn't seem to realize that it was Gohan that told Goku to hide the tournament's true goal.
That was pretty much the entire problem with the end of that arc. There's no reason whatsoever that Trunks shouldn't have been able to win against Zamasu. There are a ton of plausible reasons why it's possible for it to happen, the writers simply didn't bother to explain even when there was plenty of time to do so. They clearly took time to explain why Vegetto's fusion wasn't a permanent one, why not explain the spirit bomb sword or the rage power up? The only thing that I gather from what was stated is that Zamasu pulled a 'Trunks' got swole and lost all his speed while being consumed by his mental instability.

I get you playing the Android 17 fanyboy in this thread, that is all cool, but HOW on earth can someone say "okay" to what android trains on and taking months of fighting black, being near-death multiple times and literally fighting for your own universe's survival and loved ones as "4 seconds"?
It is not fucking four seconds. It is literally the opposite of that.

My hot guess is they'll
concentrate the universes into one new universe. Would keep all new characters alive and give plenty opportunity to find more powerful enemies in the future.

But then it's rather funny because you're not helping his case at all.
I said that was a problem, how despite being put through emotional and physical stress, Trunks did not reach this power.
Yet he achieved it in 4 seconds later on. Because yes, he did. He was weak as fuck, that's a fact. It's not like he got that strong over time, he went from shit to overpowered in 4 seconds. And don't even tell me he was holding back because he went all out against Goku and Vegeta to test his power.

something interesting is that Buu falling asleep was the way Buu got disqualified from the U6-7 tournament, but the manga had the more hilarious idea of "Buu fails the entry exam"
but now Toriyama reused the same trick so I guess the original outline called for Buu sleeping the exam
