Chinese (maybe both simplified and traditional) and Korean version of DQ11 confirmed by SIEH and SIEK. It seems that asia version is Playstation exclusive right now.
Dragon Quest was one of the first RPG series to introduce AI. In the original version of DQ4, you couldn't control anyone manually but the hero in chapter 5. It's not a new thing for the series at all.
However, there's no disadvantage to manual control here. Not sure where that's coming from.
I've used this throughout the DS/3DS games, it's really useful for the healer to immediately react based on the situation as they act rather than attempt to predict what the enemy will do and tell the healer manually to heal the right person at their turn to act. Both the AI and manual control have different advantages and disadvantages to me- generally by the final boss I've moved to full manual control due to more item use, multiheal spells etc.I think the disadvantage is because the AI will use information available to them at time of action. But player can only set action at start of turn.
For example if my hero gets hit for 40 dmg this turn, the AI healer may choose to heal hero even if hero was at full hp at start of turn.
New PS4 Slime controller akin to the old PS2 one was announced. Glad this one is making a comeback:

I actually still have the PS2 one, but it was put away in my attic and got some sort of sap on it. :<
PS4 version for me, just preordered it on Amazon JP. I thought about getting the 3DS version too, but it looks so bad in comparison (even for a 3DS game I think it looks bad), and I don't think I'll play through the game twice any time soon.

Tempted to import this out of principle even though, yeah, it looks uncomfortable as shit, lol
So early 2018 for ps4 in the west...

The game looks fantastic but seriously, another MIDI soundtrack when an orchestrated version exists?
How have the orchestrated DQVIII releases (PS2 US, 3DS Japan) not moved us past this?

Isn't square Enix says that they want to released All his games at the same time in all markets?
And they want to push very hard the DQ's brand in the west ?
Maybe September? Or Im being naive?
It has to be. It wouldn't make sense to localize spin-offs but not a mainline game.I think that we'll get localization news at E3, if the game is being planned for a western release at all.
Because Sugiyama gonna Sugiyama.
When the orchestrated OST goes on sale later, it makes it more enticing.
Sure but what does he have on these people that he exerts that kind of power? He's an employee and this is a Japanese company.
He's not an employee of Square Enix. In fact, Koichi Sugiyama Yuji Horii and Akira Toriyama are all freelancers who have their own personal companies and who each own parts of the rights to the Dragon Quest franchise. Square Enix doesn't own the music of Dragon Quest.

Not only is Sugiyama not an employee of Square Enix, he also maintains full rights to every piece of music he writes, and he's a chairperson for JASRAC, which is like the RIAA of Japan. He is vehemently against all kinds of things, like streaming and even digital purchasing.
In case anybody was still concerned for some reason, the new issue of Dengeki confirms that manual control for all party members is available for both camera modes on PS4.
Speaking of SFC DQ6, animations, 2D/16-bit graphics and the end of a trilogy, these were the magazine previews I remember seeing in EGM2, Electronic Gaming Monthly and GamePro, respectively.

Ffxv had some shook?I don't know why anyone would think this wasn't gonna be an option.
Just in case no one has said it, I think it's really awesome how you post all these old EGM/American game magazine scans.Brings back a lot of good memories, EGM was my main gaming source pre internet age.
I'm looking forward to the 3DS DQ11 more. DQ just works on portable.

Thanks -- I was a fan of Sendai magazines and all the magazines they published out of Lombard, Illinois.
I wish I could see if the original Diehard GameFan had any coverage of Dragon Quest VI but so many issues have not been scanned, and much of what has that is floating around on flickr and elsewhere, is of really low quality
Nintendo Power though, had some great coverage, more than I would've expected for a game that never got localized for SNES.
