Unfortunately, yes.

But I believe the picture you're sending out is saved on your SD card, so you could back up the picture in your SD card before deleting the extra data.

meh, I scrapped it, no one was voting for it anyway. RIP best picture no one will ever see or appreciate. (it was of a prone Marek being accosted by a Munchie)

I'm still in pickham. Does the game keep a token amount for each casino, or does it operate with the same total across all casinos?

How far in the story do you see your first casino .
I am at the
new land after i beat that boss in the ocean khalamari

I really really really like casino games in rpgs.
I wasted tons of hours in golden sun.
Even kept a seperate save just for gambling

The first casino has terrible odds. It's kinda a joke. But you save scum with Quick Save. The best Casino is a bit away.

Just beat the game, at right near the 50 hour mark. What a great game, everything I could have expected and hoped for. Endearing characters, great voice work and localization, a simple story with clear storytelling, classic combat, a believable sense of scale, great QoL features. Really glad I finally gave it a shot

So I just got to Peregrin Quay and ... don't see a lot of reasons to keep on playing, to be honest.

The overworld looks just as it did on the continent I was on before, and there still doesn't seem to be much in it save for the occasional treasure chest or rare monster, which makes going out of your way to explore feel a bit useless. Having Jessica in my party doesn't seem to make the combat more engaging, either. I'm currently trying to grind a bit to level her up to match Yangus and the main character, but it seems to take forever.

I really liked the beginning in Farebury and loved the first dungeon, and assumed the game was going to build up from there. Unfortunately, it seems to have decided to slow down a ton instead.

King Trode's voice acting really is a riot, but there really needs to be more of it.

This game just isn't for me, I guess.

You're still very early in the game.

And to be the fair, this is still a classic JRPG. The overworld is huge, but you still have a rather linear quest. It does open up later with some cool sidequests. You should have opened up Cameron's Codex, which is rather fun.

The story itself also gets more interesting. You're still in the exposition phase.

But don't expect a Skyrim style game, with hidden quests and dungeons all over the map. It's bog standard classic JRPG. You do get better traversal options a bit later that make exploring the terrain much better.

OK, that does sound good, I think I'll stick with the game.

It's funny though -- I actually do like JRPGs a lot because I find them relaxing and the way the overworld is laid out in this game really wouldn't feel out of place in, say, a SNES or PS1 Final Fantasy title. However, in a third-person 3D game, it feels kind of weird to me being used to the dense 3D worlds in WRPGs.

Also, maybe I should stop leveling, I'm getting the feeling I might enjoy combat more if the overworld monsters gave me more of a hard time.

Overworld monsters are total pushovers at first but eventually they'll start using status effects and stronger magic and then just mashing A won't work unless you're overleveled. You've just gotta put in the time to get there!

Hmmm...one of my favorite things about VIII was bringing the classic JRPG in all its glory into 3D. Traditions of 2D were preserved pretty well on PS, but PS2 level production values killed some of them off, like the world map.

Given what, say, Final Fantasy X or XII was doing with world maps, it was nice to see a JRPG do what DQVIII did.

What are the best Monsters team for Rank S in Monster Arena? I have Skeledoid, Octurion and Talos as a team. Is that good enough to beat Morrie's Team?

I just gotta say, your characters in this game probably win the award for biggest chokers of any rpg party. Seriously,
how many people are going to have to die when the party is right there?? Just got through Marta's cottage. The only useful thing we did was defeat dhoulmagus but then we messed it up immediately afterwards.

Just finished in Tryan Gully. I feel like I'm approaching the end :(

Couple of questions: 1) Is there a specific location full of metal/metal king/liquid metal slimes? I hear there's a specifically island full of them, but at the moment Dragon's Graveyard, Tryan Gully surrounding area and that stretch of land near Argonia or Ascantha (?) are the only places I've found.

2) How does the Casino work? Any strategies to gain coins quickly? Those prize items look delicious.

I didn't spend much time in the casino but there are some tips a few posts up.

As for the first question, yes, I went to two locations for metal grinding: one is an island in the lower left corner of the map, you can find liquid metal slimes there. The other is a set of plateaus just barely northwest of that dude's Tower north of Arcadia (forget his name). There's a spot on the lowest plateau where you can just spin the camera endlessly and wait for metal king slimes

Just post it to miiverse and share here. If you haven't looked the DQVIII miiverse is nothing but awesome photos. It's actually my favorite one to pull open and check out when I'm away from the game. People post crazy stuff.

Pretty much a staple of Level 5 games. Only real weakness of this game is the repetitive story beats.

Leopold memory was quite obnoxious...On the guy after him in that dungeon and the post-trials dragon gauntlet now.

Yeah, coming back to this after having played the others and a decade later, I thought it did the main cast, Trode, and Medea well for the series (in the company of, say, 4 and 5), and the vignettes poorly for the series when they weren't part of the main character arcs.

And one of my core disappointments with seven was how little it did with the main cast after they left the first island, excluding that one major vignette with the roamers, of course. Mervyn and Aishe were particularly underserved, for this reason.

I'm hoping that 11 is a bit of an 8/7 fusion, with an interesting core story-telling conceit like 4/5/7.

Reached the dragon cave with cash and Carrie, saw those king metal slimes and got excited, but pretty much every single one flees. Btw those two really are annoying.

You mean flee from battle?

Strange. KMS aren't as flee happy as their weaker versions.

Not sure if it's been posted before, but having Red in the party makes farming Liquid Metal Slimes into a joke. Her "Blade Cascade" skill does some crazy damage and from my experience today, almost never misses.

Go to
Neos and then the desert where you found the magic ship
. The other is unlocked via
a Dragovian trial reward
. Hunting Metal King Slimes in Heavenly Dais is the fastest way to level, but you shouldn't really need to grind for the trials, unless you're very low level (below 40).

Unless people have Kazing unlocked on every character they can and have dragon(lord) claws and a Timbrel, the 3DS trials are harder than the PS2 versions - it helps if your health is over ~430 to sometimes survive rounds where the boss 1HKO's your party members.

I'm currently on Darksteel and it's basically impossible without being over 60 due to it attacking 3x a turn and Dazzling everyone to make landing tensioned hits a chore.

Got to Rank C in the monster arena, I don't think I can progress further for now.

I should probably stop wandering around and progress with the plot.

I'm still only about 30-40 hours in DQ VII, not that I don't enjoy it but I feel like I need to take a break and play DQ VIII. 7's vignettes are cool but it feels like one disjointed task after another at times. 8 just looks more colorful and fun easier to dive into. But the other part of me wants to commit to beating DQ VII and then "treat" myself to VIII so I avoid adding to my backlog, conflicted. Also don't want to miss out on the fun DLC weapons coming out now. I was thinking of double teaming the games, maybe play VII one day then VIII the next and so on.

DQ VII is a very good game from what I have played but it's soooooo long and demands so much commitment, I need a break. I think I'm going go just tackle VIII full on and then will finish VII later when I'm ready again. The overworld, battles, and characters in VIII just look so much more fun (especially Yangus, Morrie and Jessica). Are there any basic tips or general things I should know or be prepared for ahead of time?

I ragequit on Darksteel in the PS2 version and yet Morrie OHKOd him in the 3DS version. God bless Morrie.

I used to love DQVII, but after the remake I'm not so sure anymore. It's not a bad game, but I used to rate it pretty highly, and now I don't feel like giving it more than a seven. I understand why people can't get into it or drop it.

On other I really fell in love with VIII all over again, I can't believe how good the game is. 3DS version's improvements certainly helped, though. I really hope XI builds off it now that they got rid of DS/3DS limitations.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well they integrated him despite being optional and generally being available near endgame. It feels like they balanced endgame bosses around how OP he is instead of the other way around, but whatever.

I mostly agree with your points, but at the same time, I don't really see why you wouldn't have most of those things unless you're doing some kind of challenge/non-cookie-cutter run.

Getting Kazing should obviously be a priority for most characters (and I wouldn't say that 4 are really necessary; even 2-3 should suffice), and it seems like a no-brainer to go claws with Morrie and craft a Timbrel.

Having said that, I did have an optimal party setup when I completed the trials at 40, so others might have different experiences depending on their builds.

You can't get Kazing with 4 characters. Only Angelo, Jessica, and Morrie have it. Red has a skill that does the same thing though.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I forgot how much I hated the mid-game "go here to follow
Dhoulmagus
, but you need the
Magic Mirror
to get in, which you can get from
The King of Argonia
, but only after you
help his son get a lizard heart
, then once you've got the
Magic Mirror
it doesn't
work right until it's recharged
".

Like, get on with it. I feel like I've just played for 3 hours and not accomplished anything of significance.

This is exactly where I am and it's stalled me out for a bit.
Really the only part of the game that I can fault the pacing.

The pacing of that part of the game definitely felt weird. At one point I had actually forgotten why I was even on that tangent in the first place.
