Dragon's Dogma 2 Releases on Steam with $40 worth of microtransactions .Currently with 'Mostly Negative' Reviews on Steam

You can't delete your character or save file.
Essentially if you fuck up or want to try again. You have to pay.
Poor performance too.

You totally can, but need to turn off cloudsaves, and delete the files, don't forget to also turn them off for the char editor.. Or, you can get to the first city and pay 500 to edit your character again.

But, yeah, there should be a menu option for it in game, and a mirror or such item at the first camp to fix your looks..

I found a guy who sells the art of metamorphosis for 500 RC(allow you to have a redo on your spawn look and voice) so anyone spending real money is goofy as hell. I also had one in my storage for free already.

That speaks for game industry perception more than anything else. People starting to realize that they should protest these sort of things from the very beginning. Fact that outrage bursts on PC is especially important, because they will probably have a free trainer released soon, yet still players care. There are no "action replays" for consoles anymore…

How is a clip from asmond proof of anything? You can literally buy the same item in game. It's not a secret.
The description for the item you are talking about on its Steam page says "Note: This consumable item is also obtainable in-game."
Asmongold said otherwise so get lost with your reading comprehension and logic

If you're incapable of disabling cloud saves and deleting local files, you probably shouldn't be gaming on PC. That's basic stuff.

I've had to do that with several games in the past because of Steam Cloud overwriting local files. It's not limited to this game.

The fact that you are defending this "ridiculous oversight" that requires a multi step process to "fix" is laughably pathetic.

There is no defense for this in a 2024 triple-A SINGLE PLAYER game and making snide comments like "keep complaining" then writing a treatise of instructions makes you look like a clown.
He did offer a solution mind you. But it is total dog shit of Capcom. Its pure filth

praising the Game Director of DD2 for saying the same thing, only to then see a knee-jerk reaction to optional MTX for fast-travel.

Yea, this is basically what he did

Also again it shows that pc players are bitches. They always whine about something.
The game is using these expensive components for something. That's a good thing. Right?
And mtx is optional. I have 600 steam games and you think I go and cry playing games for which I have not bought every dlc ?! Get real and just ignore this or pay 2$ if you really want it.
Then they will whine that singleplayer games are dead, where is dd3 and games are too expensive at 70€

So what now ? You're saying that rightly calling out scummy greedy microtransaction trends in full-priced single-player games is whining ? We should just pucker up and let it happen without letting our voices be heard ?

Optional cosmetic MTX in single-player games are already present and ignored. This is different. This is intentionally making basic features like character editing, starting a new game and fast travelling difficult so as to get players to pay. This is far worse than some paid skins. Companies need to be told that making basic features difficult will negatively impact their game.

I assure you, members of the "git gud" and "stop whining" crowd such as yourself are a small, if vocal, minority. For most of us other normies, this is bad, it needs to be called out and stopped.

Maybe stop whining about PC players whining.

You have to pay to edit your characters appearance in a single player game?

If that's true. Fuckkkkkkk this game and capcom.

Oh no baby what is you doing.....

What a steaming turd this game launches as. Can't understand people buying, let alone preordering this.

Just buy it when it's like 20 USD and all this shit has been patched out.
Have to agree this is a wait and see purchase on all platforms for numerous reasons. I like the footage but the performance alone is dreadful.

Legit was just about to buy this then I saw the reviews and Asmonds video above...you can't delete your character and start again?

Who the fuck is supporting this and why weren't reviewers aware and warning everyone.

What the fuck is happening to this industry?

But how does that even make sense lol? I just searched a bit and apparently you need those Rift Crystals to fast travel and these are rare but, you can pay for them.

So fast travel requires a rare, very limited resource that can be purchased?
Its already since 1st

They had so much hype and good will on their side, so of course they decided to burn it down with moronic decision after moronic decision. Of course.

The thing is, player who complains, seems never play DD, its already like that since DD as far as i remember, only now, DD2, using paid cheat if you want to do something faster. And lot of games doing that. But as veteran of the first, its not necessery to buy, unless you are lazy.

I regret not buying this on Steam so I could refund it.

The practice of making people pay to edit their character is really something I don't wish to support.

huge hype, lot of new players so you can understand that but it seems despite all of that, people who are playing it are enjoying it deeply so I wouldn't worry too much

So wait, they've intentionally made travelling more realistic supposedly to make the game better, but at the same time you can use MTX's for fast travel? Not scummy and pre-planned at all.

It's ok to call out but boycotting and artificial negative scores because of this are stupid. Game itself is good. This is optional inconvenience at best

Hideaki Itsuno has no creative integrity. DMC5 was plagued by the same pay to win microtransactions. It's so shameless and insulting. People saying to just ignore it are supporting a practice that reduces a $80 game to a mere casino slot machine.

As long as game economy is fine I don't give a single fuck. If people don't want any of those they should have stopped their sales foccused buying habbits years ago.

Nah, fuck that. Publishers knew that but they decided to fuck their customers anyway. They need to be shown fans won't stand for this and this is a great way. It needs to be something that affects them. Otherwise, why should they care?

A couple of fans whining won't get their attention. Their review scores tanking will.

Jesus, dude. It's a lot more than that. It's a deliberate tactic on the part of a greedy games publisher to further extort money from gamers for services that should be completely free.

I don't understand how anyone can be okay with that kind of deceptive, corrupt shit? It's not just the practical effects, it's the intent.

I now hope this fucking game bombs in every single respect.

itsuno is not new to such things, dmc5 also released with surprise dmx, but the game was so good and the mtx unubtrusive enough that people just shrugged and forgot about them.

not sure if the same can be said here...but a bit of backlash about this practice is long overdue, shame that it happened to this game and not something much bigger and probably deserving

It's not a multiplayer game. If you want to pay for those things there is nothing wrong with it. If you don't then don't.

They know that roaming around the map with a damn stamina system for 50-100 hours and killing the same goblin\harpy\cyclop is gonna get super tedious and not fun at all after a while, like in the first game, that itsuno guy know exactly what he is doing, all the pr talk have zero value when you don't believe in your gameplay design and give players a method to avoid that in exchange for more money.

This shit is on the same level of ubisoft selling double xp to avoid the grind in ac odissey.

Gotta wonder how many of these complainers commonly throw money at their favourite Twitch or YT personality when they stream, but blow a gasket when a game has a virtual "tips jar" like these mtx?

Pretty sure this'll blow over when word gets out that these things are somewhat commonly available, particularly in the late game.

As an older guy can't help but be dismayed by the whole angry "I must be allowed to play my game my way" mentality. It just stinks to me of a self-indulgent world-view where constraints that are intended to promote fun and challenge are instead looked upon as annoying inconveniences or worse.

Such a basic thing shouldn't be monetized. What next? Limited amount of stamina to sprint that you can replenish by buying a super rare potion?

Ridiculous.
thing is, fast travel being rare is part of the design philosophy, the game, much like the first , is based around traveling from place to place.

but apparently capcom is not above sacrificing their entire gameplay loop for a bit of extra cash

artificial negative scores
Review scores being low, because the publisher implemented bad practices and denied basic features to players, is not artifical, it is perfectly legitimate and deserved. I can understand that you personally like the game. You are entitled to. But there is no need to defend Capcom from perfectly justified backlash.

This is optional inconvenience at best
We fundamentally disagree here. In fact, most of this thread disagrees with you on this.
