Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

That really... really sucks :|

not really ..just finish the game ( you still have much to do )

and when you'll do a NG+ you'll know how to pace up your events better .
Doing this game si to different set of classes each time is almost a requirement to trully enjoy it ..

Each time? I changed my class several times during my first playthrough (all 200hrs). Second playthrough was just plowed through for the trophy. :p

2 set of classes ( for both me and my pawn ) in my first play
and another 2 set for n4G is played differently , experienced some bosses differently and it was a great experience.

Woo killed the griffin,
don't need to walk to bluemoon tower for now
, oil and blast arrows ftw.

didn't your pawn said :
"follow me arisen" or
"i'll show you the way"

?
aywa some pawn can teleport in some specific cases but they never get too far from you unless there is specific scripted event in place..

No idea, didn't really pay attention to her, lol, she just disappeared and I saw her on the other side, I think she's on pioneer and I never changed it so it's to be expected.

It's really hard to discuss the story of this game without the entire post being a huge block of spoilers lol, but I really enjoyed how the story played out instead of the usual RPG tripe that seems to go nowhere.

This game never really lost or overwhelmed me with a bloated story.

I'm after the part I was describing earlier and wow... so much to do.

But where do I start? They kinda just gave me the world so to speak. I really need a place to change my vocation more than anything else.

Funny story: I have not beat this game. After probably 100+ hours playing it. I kept restarting over and over because the game got too easy. So I tried playing with my own rules like: without pawns, with just my main pawn, no healing magic, etc.

But now I'm just kinda cruising through it... I'm on hard mode (lol another restart) and it's just my main pawn and I, no healers. The game just isn't hard. I've accepted it. It's an easy game even with all the self-imposed restrictions. Just playing through to finally see how the game ends! haha

I think this is one of the longest I've ever played a game without actually finishing it.

Every RPG becomes easy if you play it for more than 100 hours. :p Even the Souls games.

I meant combined time... I always kept restarting around the Duke missions. :p

And 100+ was pretty conservative estimate... real number is too embarrassing to say/think about.

this game looks interesting but i don't know if i'm willing to drop 45 bucks on something that is so flawed...i'd bite for sure at 20 or even 30.

however, divinity II: dks is now 18 dollars at good ol gamestop (i'm looking at the 360 version.) to those who have played both, which do you prefer and why? thanks.

In terms of unique content, Divinity II has waaaaaay more of it. Dragon's Dogma however, has far superior combat mechanics which leads to it being a lot more fun for me... quality over quantity, as they say. They're both action RPGs, but they don't play anything alike. I never finished Divinity II, whereas I'm replaying Dragon's Dogma to get all achievements.

Yea the crap difficulty does hurt the game a lot, they should've capped the leveling if they're going with static enemies, leveling is not even necessary as some have already mentioned, the class rankings and skills were already enough, not to mention easier to balance, they tried too hard catering to *everyone* but it backfired on them.

It doesn't help that it's an hassle to play solo (you need to kill your pawn instead of dismissing her/him), the game is focused too much on pawns on default.

the game was designed around pawns. i'm sure they are proud of their work with them because they did a fine job with the pawn system... so of course they're gonna focus the game around pawns since they made it ( and spend a lot of time creating those ).

Let's not forget that they added easy mode first... so you gotta believe that some people thought that the game was too hard

Does any of the new armor/stuffs at least look good?

What about the quest pack? :/

I bought the holy protection pack because I kept dying and my ego wouldn't let me switch to easy mode. Now all my pawns and arisen look badass but where Im at in the game right now it feels too easy(Only level 7)

Looked at some trailers and thought to myself wow the pc version looks awesome! Only to find out there was no pc version. Which means the ps3 version is a bad port. I still enjoyed the ps3 version, but the inconsistent frame-rate and the bad draw distance were definitely noticeable.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion lol.
Both versions are identical the only difference is that the PS3 version has occasionally slightly lower framerate while the 360 version has screen tearing.
Draw distance is the same in both versions.

The framerate in the trailers were perfect to be honest, even in the drake video with MK using the magic cannon. So the videos without UIs were probably taken from the platform they made the game on (PC). I don't know what the framerate was like on 360 though, but the trailers were pretty smooth, at least compared to the ps3 version.

Got all achievements last night. This is my third Xbox game ever to get a complete playthrough, the other two being Torchlight and Civilization Revolution. I am soooooo pumped for Dark Arisen. Where's my freaking release date?

The only real performance issue I have with the game (that detracts from the experience) is the pop in -- it can get pretty nasty at times, especially with enemies appearing out of thin air.

It's only gotten framey on me a few times. Usually when lots of enemies/magic going off everywhere.

Otherwise it performs alright for a console game.

You must be incredibly good to avoid all the one-shot kill stuff early on. I know I had a very frustrating time with it.

i think you just have
to survive, he will fly away after a few minutes. carry anti petrify potions and use proper elemental enchants. go for this throat.

Well then they must be running the trailer off a pc version that's never going to retail.

I bought Dragon's Dogma from GameFly a few weeks ago, and I'll be starting a campaign soon.

Anyone care to give me a brief practical pros/cons of starting class selection?

Fighter- Pros: Melee and blocking. Cons: No ranged attack
Strider- Pros: Less stamina usage when climbing enemies, has both melee and ranged attacks. Cons: Cannot tank like a fighter.
Mage- Pros: Magic attack are awesome. Cons: Poor melee, poor defense

In the end it doesn't really matter that much since you'll be switching classes a lot in the game. Fighter is substantially easier to start out with compared with the other 2 though.

Started this on the 27th last month. Finished it today
and am in the post-game Everfall thing.
Amazing game. I just hit max vocation on my Ranger (I started as strider, maxed vocation and purchased most of the skills). I'm debating if it is worth changing vocations (currently lvl 42)?

A lot of bosses I find are more vulnerable to range and I know Ranger stat growth is okay. I never really went down the melee/warrior route (100 kisses daggers though lol). Assassin seems like fun.

Strider : you feel like a badass with speed
Mage : you won't feel like a badass at first but you will after 10 hours
Fighter : you will feel like a hero doing so kick-ass things ( at normal speed )

Ranger : you're the predator of everything that flies except dragons, but after 10 hours playing even dragons will feel pain so you'll look like a badass
Warrior : this huge orc wants to kill you but you're so badass with your shield and sword that he will soon die in pain
Sorceror : you'll feel weak physically , but you don't care as you can do some cool badass spells and summons tornados or a rain of fire or lightning over your ennemies ..so badass

Assassin : you'll be so badass i don't have enough words to explain why as you're so quick to kill ....For some reasons your ennemies are lying dead of the ground , be it dragon , orcs or zombies. if you have a pawn that can cast magic, even ectoplasm will be defeated .. so quick so badass

Mystic Knight : this huge griffin wanted to hit me but my shield is so badass that i don't care

Magick Archer : because some times ..come the moment when you want magical arrows that follow your ennemies to their death , leaving them no chance to escape.. because sometimes it's dark and that a light/holy arrow in a dark forest at night helps and that a holy arrows destroy every undead ennemy ..your only real ennemies are the dragons and the magical golems but with a well balanced party this is not a real problem. a little less badass vocation that will provide some ways to play differently.

I have never felt more like a god in this game when I ran as a sorcerer. All the high level spells are pretty much designed with maximum holy shit factor in mind.

I know people call it the "post-game" but you haven't actually beaten the game yet. The Dragon is not the end.

Currently at level 46 and just hitting the great wall, I would like to kill some Golems, but I can't get Archers to be useful. So I was thinking of switching my. Mystic Archer seems to be the choice, but that is still Magic, is it worth switching over to standard Ranger?

you can solo the ranger class, but you can also start hitting from far away and let your pawns protect you by killing everything that come close..

It's easier than saying
"that place where they put the credits after you beat the boss they were alluding to the entire game"
:).

And with that, I
really beat the game...great last fight
.

Anything really different about
new game +?

How do I get more mage pawns? I'm level 9 I think and I just made my first pawn (a Strider). When I enter the Riftstone everyone inside is a fighter. My character is a fighter so I'd prefer more mages. When I search the Riftstone everything is too expensive for me to hire. Is there a way to make 2 more pawns for free?

Meicyn

Any pawn from a person on your friends list is free to hire no matter what level they are.

Alternatively, you can stay offline, in which case pawns of all types will be randomly generated in the rift, encampment, and all other areas where they roam.

Nothing really beyond being able to buy more stuff from the black cat such as port crystals, and easy access to the Ur Dragon via a rift stone located along the beach in Cassardis.

What do you mean? I found killing
cockatrices
a chore, especially in
the everfall
, maybe I was missing something though.

a pawn with dispell element or a inventory to be able to treat blindness and poison are often what you really need to treat this monster like the dirt it deserve to be ... ( under my foot )

You can filter search results by class and level (search -> search by level -> change search conditions). That's what I do and I never had trouble finding mages, though I still end up cycling through them for ages since there's no "how about no half-naked sexy ladies with a maxed out boob size slider" filter. My kingdom for an ugly-ass witch.

You can preview pawns?

When you recruit a pawn online does he stick with you forever or it just like a rental?
