Where is the lever for the fortress besieged quest?
Its on the 2nd level of one tower, where the mounted crossbows are. but on opposite side of wall. One of those thin openings in the wall..

That's what I'm wondering because there's been no information that I've seen on NG+ for DD. All I know is that the enemies don't scale to your level, period. It may be that they get boosted in NG+ but there's been nothing to allude to that yet.

Just started this.
I feel as if I've been waiting to play this game my entire life. Open world, great combat, challenge out the wazoo, beautiful world.
I think I may have made a mistake picking the mage class though. Can I switch it up later or should I reroll now?
I want to say yes but man . . . in Gran Soren the framerate sometimes dips into the teens, or lower. It's a fucking slideshow at times for no apparent reason.BeeDog said:So, did the PS3 version turn out to perform better than the demo?
You can freely switch vocations at level 10, once you get to the city.
Not really digging the mage either, the spell effects are cool but it's so uninvolving.
I play as a ranger, so I can be as involved or removed from combat as I wish.
The nice thing about not having fast travel is it makes you weigh the consequences of all your actions. I know you could artificially limit yourself from doing it, but the removal of the option adds to to sense of survival and tension and ultimately the payoff feeling at the end of a successful journey when you reach the intended destination. When we finally made it to the gates of Gran Soren doing The Courier, I remember this huge sigh of relief when I was basked with the torchlights. And that was just in the first couple of hours in the game. I'll take that feeling over convenience any day.
I agree. I could see them possibly adding horses or carriages, but as long as they keep the danger of travel.
Think of the taxis in GTA 4 without the option to bypass them.
There could even be a "mini game" of sorts to defend the carriage from attack.
Presumably bandits can set up traps like the boulder one requiring you to get out of the carriage before it gets demolished.
Or say the carriage takes damage, you can repair a broken wheel by gathering wood and repairing it.
Damn it, I really like the look of that armor. Not giving in to Capcoms DLC though.
Considering how hyped I was for this game, I'm feeling a little bummed out about it 5 hours or so in as I'm not really enjoying it. I started as a Mage and now I'm at level 10 (I just made it to the Duke's big city after the caravan run), so not very far in.
Does playing a Mage ever get much more interesting? Magic seems a bit unwieldy and weak, and I feel like my Pawns are carrying every battle.
Maybe I should just restart as a Fighter or Strider.
Otherwise, I like the atmosphere of the game. Everything does seem a bit janky, and the visuals can be quite ugly at times, honestly. I really wish there was a PC version.

I think magic is powerful, but it's just not that active... you find your position, and then you spam the hell out of whatever spells you can. Kind of a bore.
That said instead of restarting I'd look into just changing vocations in the city. Mystic Knight or Magic Archer are both good paths apparently.

How is everyone making dual classes? Im a strider level 22 and I cant pick magic or any other class am I missing something??
Was all set to go there and then i found some sort of sunken dungeon behind a waterfall. Hours later...Finally made it inside Gran Soren. It's quite daunting at first, I love the size.

Gran Soren should get you suited out. You could also try clearing out the Ancient Quarry so the shop opens up there. Was all set to go there and then i found some sort of sunken dungeon behind a waterfall. Hours later...
Need to find another town besides the starting area and the pawn encampment because my armor blows.
114K RC overnight.
My pawn works hard for his money.
Edit: Holy shit, someone gave me a ferrystone. Someone else gave me a tome that casts the earthquake spell.
Getting around in this game is such a chore. I really wish they had a dedicated fast travel system like Skyrim. Often times I'm traveling far distances and I end up getting stranded in the middle of nowhere with low health and items at night. It's horrible.
Btw, how does the leveling of the pawns work when you're in the rift? Since people can only create one pawn, and that pawn levels with them, does that mean that eventually most pawns that you'll find in the rift will be high level? I'd imagine this will be troublesome for new players down the road.
Unless I'm missing something.
All I ever get are herbs...
My pawn has never been rated, either, despite being used quite often.
Is that around in Gran Soren somewheres?Gran Soren should get you suited out. You could also try clearing out the Ancient Quarry so the shop opens up there.

It might have something to do with my aforementioned internet woes. I basically just get brief periods of connectivity I can use to upload my pawn, but I'm not able to browse other people's pawns. I don't know how this would effect me receiving ratings for my pawn, though she's definitely being used by people quite often. The trick is to make your pawn look as cool as possible to make him stand out from the crowd. Mine is always being rated 5's or 4's with positive comments and I almost always get items back.

I've got this explosive arrow skill for my magik archer and boy is helping me take these bandits out. Also helps for the bigger creatures as well.
This was the dungeon I talked about earlier when I was splooshing over the lighting (from the Magick Archer skill). Probably the best part of the game so far to me, was that dungeon. Not just the look, but the half flooded aspect of it, and having a distance war with an enemy mage or 2, ending with that giant Cyclops thing. Also, tons of loot.
As a hint, that thing drops a circle orb key, you use that near the beginning, to lower the water level, for the other half of the dungeon.
I actually used the double jump to get across a gap and get behind the door without the key, hahaha.
