Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

Be thankful. You can sometimes play online because I won't buy it. Sony can't figure out what it's doing, so they told me to stay away. That's why they won't release the PS+ version because more people would play this great game, screwing up the online.

I am thankful.
I'm thankful I didn't listen to all the silly negativity and the ludicrous reviews. It's a great game.

Don't get it. It's your loss.

I swear when they were initially enticing those to sign up for PS+ and rationalizing the forced version of it, they suggested that a good portion of the actual game would be provided, then that eventually reduced to like 2 tracks and 2 cars, then it went to nothing.

Great offer -> You'll take what we give you -> Fuck you

Well, make sure you don't ever buy the game. Would hate to bring down the game's online because we bought the game, causing those currently playing to have online problems. You're welcome, Sony. I won't buy Driveclub so I'm not a problem for you.
Surely you understand the difference between gradual sales to new customers not being a comparable stress to the stress of having a bunch of new people all hopping on due to the glorified demo going live.

For the purposes of this argument and to complain as much as possible, no, he doesn't. Damn the facts!

Surely you guys should understand that they shouldn't make promises they can't meet. Surely you're not saying the consumer is in the wrong for setting expectations accordingly.

Surely.

Haven't been keeping up with the topic but what exactly is happening? Their servers couldn't take more people without blowing up? Or is that just what their reasoning is for not releasing a PS+ version?

Surely.

If the purpose of your interest in Driveclub is to play a great racing game, then buy the game.

If the purpose of your interest in Driveclub is to make sure Sony keeps their promise about the free PS+ version, then wait.

If all you care about is getting the free version of the game that was promised, I don't know why you keep posting in threads about the paid version of the game.

Because I am a dissatisfied customer of their actions. Also, on that same note, why are you posting in this thread? Wait, I know:

If the purpose of your interest in Driveclub is to play a great racing game, then buy the game, and then go online and justify shitty corporate actions instead of playing the game.

I don't even own Driveclub yet but this is complete nonsense. They beta'd fine. The server issues did not show up until they unleashed the game in the wild -- that has nothing to do with making 'promises they can't keep'. Obviously they were confident they could keep them at the time.

There is a difference between not being able to make good on a promise despite best efforts and lying. This is clearly a case of unexpected server issues getting the best of them, and their concern that handing it out to millions on a single day will cause the issues to return.

How exactly did you want them to set expectations: "Hey, guys, we're going to give you a ps+ version for free, except in the case that we are completely taken by surprise by impossible to simulate server issues that escaped all of our testing." Would that have tempered your expectations enough that you'd give them a well deserved break?

I don't think Sony or Evo expected this to happen in a million years.

I'm here for the free hat.

Corporate apologizing at its finest. Delicious.

'We don't want to provide you a free demo that we promised because it may screw up our broken game, but can buy it at full price if you should like!"

You have no clue wtf u are talking about dude.

Yes. That must be it. I must just be really, really, really, really lucky. People have reviewed the online capability with the power of rumour and hearsay.

Lol. Don't get it. It's your loss too.

You're going off the rails. I never said "you must be really, really, really lucky".

It's still spotty for SOME. Not all, not a majority, some. You're getting great online functionality and that's awesome, but some aren't still. That's the definition of "spotty". Now, if it was as bad as it was at launch I wouldn't call it just "spotty".

I also never said "I'M NEVER GETTING THIS". You're just randomly assuming I'm "boycotting the game" for no reason other than to lash out at the people pointing out that hey, there exist at least a FEW people out there who continue to have intermittent problems with the online service.

Always interesting watching someone meltdown over something so silly. You think it's been unfairly treated. I think it was treated as well as it deserved. Opinions!

Talk like a grown up? You forgotten how you acted in destiny threads?

You mean type out long ass posts filled with legit reasons on why the game sucked for me personally?

NEOCTN you are making baseless accusations against the developers, I doubt you have even played Driveclub or have any knpwledge about the actual state of the server side issues.

No short ass posts saying the game sucks dicks. That what I mean.

Hmm maybe you cpuld direct me in the way of those posts I never said the game sucks dicks. I cpuld link to more lpng ass posts that I wrote about why I thought that game sucks then a few driveby posts I made.

Either way this thread isnt about Destiny nor is it about me. I was just responding to a user making ridiculous claims against the developers of this game. Unjust and unfair accusations if you ask me.

And you're playing the role of the baseless defense. Only you make shitty drive-by posts. Look at us go, dude!

I was playing earlier today. And yesterday. And the day before that. And last weekend. It was all working when I was on. What can we make of that?

That's great and all but from what I saw, it wasn't all working. It's not like I am making it up and have no reason to. From what I have seen and played of the game, it can be fun to play and it looks amazing. I want to buy it but I just don't trust them.

Obviously not releasing the ps plus version is always gonna be a thing to people because it was heavily advertised by Sony to be one of the reasons to own a ps4 at launch. It was also packed with content the summer of e3 before the release of the ps4 but then as more information came out for it, the game became less of a free "game" and more demo.

I would love to throw money at Sony and buy this game BUT what if the ps plus version gets released and the game goes back to being unplayable? I think most people would buy his game of the developer showed confidence and released the free version for everyone to try out.

Obviously they don't because they know releasing it will kill servers again... That doesn't show me the game is fixed, it only shows me that they are still trying to figure things out. If the game works 100% then release the demo for all to try out.

Oh jesus.

There it is. I knew when backed to the wall, that desperate excuse would arise.

When they released the game it had an unforseen problem that caused them massive disruption and certainly would have damaged sales. Do you think they did it on purpose?

They are trying to find a solution to the problems and you will receive some form of free demo when they can do it without impacting on their PAYING customers.

Yet here you are stamping your feet because you didn't get a satisfactory amount of free stuff to make up for the free demo you haven't received, but will receive when they can do it without impacting on PAYING customers.

I can't, for the life of me, think of a better word to describe it than 'entitlement'

And you're playing the role of the baseless defense. Only you make shitty drive-by posts. Look at us go, dude!

Baseless defense because Ive typed out these damn responses too many times and your claim is just ignorant and doesnt need much defense. You arent the first to make this moronical claim that they continue to not give out the ps+ version so they can sell the full game.

But sure Ill play along and do it all again.

First of all the game had a beta and no problems arose during that time.

The PS+ version was actually up in Asia region on psn before they janked it after discovering a crippling bug in their servers once the game went live and more people connected at once then servers could handle.

The full game is 25 euro's on eu psn for ps+ members. The ps+ version was only ever going to give you a few cars and a few tracks. 25 euros is a steal no matter how you cut it.

And last of all there are still server issues persistent in the game as it is right now. Not even all features work yet either. If they added millions of ps+ free users into the mix personally I would think it could be a clusterfuck. They have also added a ton of free content while improving upon the base game and servers underneath.

So you can type up a good and decent argument as to ehy you believe they continue to withhold the ps+ version on purpose to sell tje full game?

Then in December we didn't get a PS4 PS+ game because they were forced to bump Contrast to November.

Man, I remember way back to December 2013, that was a pretty solid month of PSPlus.... Borderlands2 was great...

Edit, damn, now we got two people basically fighting each other in here.... This will be one of those threads that will be a fun read in like 6 years, and some people will be pretty damn embarrassed about the way they acted in it....

Oh yes, that is indeed what I said. I want free stuff! Oh wait, am I not paying for PS+? Still, give me free stuff!

That scarecrow you're making...well done. Also, I'm actually curious, when did they last address the PS+ issue, and did they in fact state that a PS+ version is still in the works?

They haven't let down customers intentionally, it's not in their interests, so the constant whinging seems quite churlish at times.

I do agree with you that if they can't get the online enabled PSN+ version working soon they should maybe consider releasing a single player version with, say, only 2 of the countries included and a limited selection of cars.

It's not about if it was intentional or not. I know it obviously wasn't. It's about their response to what is a broken promise, a false statement repeated over and over again to customers they have yet to make good on, a considerable amount of time later. People should be rightfully unhappy about this situation.

I'm not in Europe dude. And I have my doubts that the writing wasn't on the wall when they pushed out this already delayed game. There's a lack of communication on the matter, and this matter should have been at the forefront of the things they're addressing...but it's mid-march now, and nothing. It's quite the disservice.

You don't understand. You're being entitled.

I've never seen so much squawking over a demo. If you're seriously interested in the game just rent the damn thing to see if you like it. Or buy a used copy from GameStop that can be returned. It's not like we were promised the full game! Are we still that upset that we didn't get a demo with a couple tracks and cars on it?

You can easily make a eu account. Game was 35 dollars on amazon awhile back too. The game was delayed because it wasnt polished enough, that was visible at E3 that year. When it came ouy the core game was and still is polished as hell, and looked and played great. The onlu thing that came crashing down was their network infrastructure.

And they have been communicating. They have put a patch out last month that in the changelpg said enables more atability for release of the ps+ edition.

Maybe you dony keep up with their facebook posts either, but in that case you cant complain about a lack of communication. More about being ignorant as to what the actual issue at hand is. You make it sound like you actually believe this conspiracy line that they are withholding the free ps+ version so they can sell you a full priced game.

I wish Rushy would post here about how wrong you probably are.

So yeah, people are rambling about a free demo that will put a ton of strain on their already under heavy loaded servers.

You don't understand. You're being entitled.

I see it as a problem defending this. I mean even though there are mitigating circumstances, that doesn't make it ok. That doesn't mean customers should just leap to defend them when they have factually fucked up and not made good on that in any way.

I'm a happy PS+ subscriber and have been for years, but on this they have utterly failed us all.

If you are really interested in the game (it is an excellent racer after all) but need to try it then rent it or ask someone to Shareplay it.

If you're just hanging around waiting for your free demo then you'll just have to wait until it won't affect Evolution's real customers. No use getting all red in the face.

I shouldn't have to. It was supposed to be given to me at launch well over a year ago. This position of defense has to stop. I can buy it if I want yes, but that's irrelevant.

I am a paying customer. You seem to think I'm angry. I'm not. I'm disappointed.

And just recently they have said they are still working on it.
I think it even mentions it in the march patch announcement.
How can they make good on it and give out a demo until they can do so without affecting their PAYING customers?
When they are at that stage they will release the demo.

Well I play madden on my xb1 and their server hold up pretty well from experience. You also have to remember EA has a lot of games on their servers across 3-4 platforms. DriveClub is only on the ps4.

But I am glad the driveclub servers are working for you. Then I don't see the problem with them releasing their demo so people can try it out. For me, I just want to see how well their servers hold up. Obviously they are not confident they will.

Another factor is the drop off of people they have probably had since the launch and how many people returned their copy the first month since servers were not working.

Ha, oh man. Yeah, the leader of the damage control should come in here and set me straight. That'll show me! Pretty sure I did not once state that it was their goal to hold back the demo, but keep parading that argument since it's really all you have.

Oh the thousands of lives shattered and hopes and dreams dashed because this demo got delayed.

the humanity...

Profound sadness.

Who said it's ok?
Evolution fucked up and they're trying to put things right. They're making great strides with the game.

You should definitely get your demo (even if it's just some single player races, a country and a few cars).
But you should only get your little bit of free stuff when it isnt going to impact on their PAYING customers.

Like I said before I started talking to you bro its a waste of my damn time. You literally didnt really go into anything I posted anyway.

And yeah Evolution did fuck up by not having the ps+ version out yet. Unforseen sircumstances and all that. But they have made a great game and continue to keep improving it and listening to community feedback.

This thread is probably one of the funniest on GAF so many salty tight buttholes.
I wonder what drives someone to not only think this statement, but type it out and be like, yeah I think this is good enough to post.

Seriously though, "salty tight buttholes."

---
I'm stuck between slightly disappointed and indifferent. As I probably said earlier, I'm not going to support the full game with the way this thing has gone since the announcement.

Either way, hurry up with my free game, my entitled hands can't handle it anymore.

People complain about thread whining for the plus version in other Driveclub threads. Then people come into a thread meant to contain the discussion of the plus version and whine that people want the plus version. Sheesh.
