Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

Honestly month after month I lose more interest on the IGC. I do think GwG is slightly better but not that much either. I am not in the mood anymore of paying a subscription only to rise my gaming list with cheap games that I could buy when intrested, and that go on sale numerous times... And unfortunately those are the games given by PSN. I am not entirely sure if I got my 50 dollars worthy with IGC since I got my PS4.

I may keep the subscription though, IF when it expires I have interest on play something online. Otherwise I wont really.

Edit:
On PS3 was worth. Nowadays I have only a PS4 and a PS Vita and neither of those 2 platforms are getting enough interesting titles imho for the subscription value. Honestly it feels to me that the service is now to play online, and IGC is an extra.

Errmmm...what?!

PS3 didnt even have PS+ at this point in its life cycle, hell the Vita took nearly a yeah to get PS+ on it after release.

And maybe you should go back and check what games were given out for the first year on PS3, they were fun games but were mainly PSN, PS mini and PS1 games, no where near the status of the games you get the last couple of years.

Shows how much some people know regarding the points they are arguing about here.

Reading comprehension, buddy. The LAST year, as in PS+ holiday 2013-now on PS3 vs. PS4 side by side.

Thanks for the great suggestion of them including old generation games, by the way. If they started putting PSNow titles in PS+ that'd help considerably.

But that comparison doesnt work either, you cant expect the PS4 PS+ games to compare with the PS3 which has been out 6/7 years already.

Realistic expectations, buddy!

This isn't going to happen for quite some time. I wouldn't hold your breath.

I already said that I don't expect it to match up. Just that it could be a hell of a lot better and this entire year of carrot dangling this deluxe sized demo just makes it worse.

I'm not your buddy, guy!

I mean yeah of course it could be 'better' but are any of the 3rd party companies going to be willing to put their relatively new games on PS+? They need to make their money back at the start of a new generation and so are gonna wait as long as possible before. I dont really think Sony can be blamed for that.

LOL, good link by the way :)

This excuse would wash if they weren't charging the exact same amount for PS4-only users. Frankly it's been a poor value on that system.

I'm actually surprised the free version has been released yet. I figured there would only be like a week delay. Are there still server issues for those who have bough the regular edition?

Yes there is still issues for those who bouggt it with disconnects and Face Offs being inconsistent because of disconnects. Atleast the clubs are constantly connecting so my points are doing something, but its still been pretty tough for me to get a multiplayer race.

So basically, if I understand correctly - and I'm late to party by quite some time - EVO implemented a system within the game that DDoS their own service, as the game connects to the servers for every little thing you accomplish within the game? The idea in itself is neat and keeps pushing you to do more/better, but something is wrong on their end or on the infrastructure. Seems like psn wasn't ready to sustain the amount of players that ps4 popularity brought along. I wanna see the money we pay them for the service be put to good use.

I'm still waiting to try the PS+ version to pass judgement on whether to buy or not, but I feel for those who have bought retail and are left with a broken (incomplete) game.

I'm a huge playstation fan, will never be ashamed of admiting that to anyone, but sometimes they really excell themselves at pissing people off..this shit is inadmissible Sony. When it was free I could understand, but now we're all paying. The improvements don't come over night but it has been almost a full year, they need to be proactive and fast to react to these kind of problems.

I'm still surprised how well Destiny launch went. Driveclub should have been even better, it's a first party title ffs.

Of course not. I expect it to continue as is, and get much worse during the early spring months. And this Driveclub thing? I expect it to get quietly canceled a few months from now.
Good lord, hyperbole much?

I'm still not sure what you expected with PS+ on PS4. What games do you think should have been on there? You seem displeased with the service's content, which must mean you have a good idea of what should have been on there.

Well, maybe he means AAA or AA retail games, but it's still too damn early to get those. Indie games are not everyone's cup of tea, and sometimes I can relate to those who say "I didn't spend 400 bucks to play this" but they have been giving some games well worth playing. It will take some time until they can start "giving away" higher profile games, we need ground our expectations a bit on this matter. It's still like 6 months-1 year before they can start giving Knacks and Killzones and whatnot.

That being said, this would have been the first brush with a AAA retail game, and it being pushed back over and over again (coupled with the fact that it was promised last year) is making people question the service and their decision to support it.

The silly DdoS talk is.... Silly.

There was never any DdoS like symptoms whatsoever.

Accodding to Evo online sessions worked from the start once you got in. They haven't said at all that the can't make connections because of overloads requests.. They said the severs dont have room for all of the requested sessions.

The game was not DDoS-ing itself. It just sounds like it was really poorly coded sever side.

And if you read between the lines... Adding more servers doesn't appear to be an option. Either for budget reasons or code architecture reasons.

They goofed, but this "it DdoS'es itself cuz the game sends lots of requests!" Stuff is pretty much made up nonsense.

That's why I questioned whether the problem was on their end, or the infrastructure (which they have no control over, Sony has). Either way, someone shat the bed here and it's hurting everyone (especially those who bought the game). I can wait for as long as they're ready, but some people are pissed, and I feel some of that is justified, given the lack of explanations/timelines, etc.

No one payed 400 bucks to play retail games from Plus. There's been plenty of good games that came out for the system already. Whether the Plus offerings are your thing or not varies, obviously.

I understand that seems to be his claim, so I want to hear what games he thinks we should have gotten. KZ:SF? Infamous? Knack? What exactly would be better than what they gave us?

I'm not really a huge indie gamer, but the stuff PS+ has given us has done a good job of broadening my horizons. I wish other people took the opportunity in the same way.

I just want my game to work
It's unfair to use this gif. It's too much.

Yeah, I'm with you on that, feel the same way. Been pleasantly surprised by a lot of games, not all of them of course, but I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. My gf spends more time with Indies than with any of the games I bought so far and local Resogun/Dead Nation mp is always a blast to play.

Actually not that disappointed. This is more about them dangling Driveclub PS+ in front of everybody's nose when the service isn't up to snuff yet. Makes something that's really more annoying than anything a much bigger deal than it would be otherwise.

I could probably be articulating this better, but the general gist of it is that this particular thing has become emblematic of a bunch of broader problems and people are getting really irritated as a result. And I don't think that's really an irrational thing.

So you won't even try a free game? That makes no sense!

I haven't tried a lot of them as I just don't have the time. I can't keep up with the retail games that interest me enough to buy so I mainly have ps+ to play online.

Why would the complaing stop, It been 2 weeks any there is no ps+ version and the main game is still fucking broken.

Exactly its been two weeks and I kind of thought people would be distracted by now and beating another horse like maybe Destiny, Ghosts, Titanfall, xbone parity...<insert latest bitch>. I kid I kid..sheesh this room needs to light up a little.

No doubt but the server issues were largely resolved in the first day or so.
Largely? Doesn't sound like 100%.

Normally I'd apologise for being this pedantic, but given the hyperbole and "off with their heads" attitiude from some around here, I think it's perfectly justified.

No. It's a 15 dollar promotion for spending 100 dollars.
In Australia the promotion was for $15 when adding (or spending?) $80 via Paypal on the PSN store. Not sure if there were any others going around.

As of a day and a half ago when I last played it, there were still issues. Said issues are diminishing by the day, but until they're completely confident they're fixed and can handle the load from a massive influx of PS+ users, they won't be releasing it.

Rest assured you'll know when it's out, though!

This is bad. So bad. I feel sorry for anyone who bought the game and isn't able to experience the whole game (this includes me) Anyone have the refund link?

Played last night with only one mid race server disconnect, the best I've ever seen it. Things are getting better or maybe I was just lucky. Challenges still aren't up though. I think it's going to be a while still for the PS+ version.

Yeah it definitely has gotten much better since yesterday overall, still alot of issues with things syncing up slowly or not at all as well as the Face/Offs still being a bit inconsistent, but the fact that things are starting to show up and I went for a bit without a disconnect is a good sign that maybe everything is finally starting to come together. I'm hoping at this rate that by next monday we'll be in good shape overall in terms of the online functionality. Hoping!

If your talking about the online racing, your really not missing anything (in public matches anyway). Its a complete cluster fook. Maybe setting up some private matches with clean drivers could be good, but in them public rooms its destruction derby from start to finish on these narrow tracks.

I'd really have to see these lines you're reading.

They said that they have as much leeway as they want with server numbers. They've said that both server "updates" and "upgrades" have gotten people back online and allowed more people online. It sounds to me that their is a bunch of serverside code updating and physical upgrades going on.

I havent seen an online game that fixes this. It seems to happen every time in online races, but no one seems to predict it nor have a solution for it.

I wish there was a good destruction derby or even a next gen Burnout game, at least they are made to crash.

The only game that solve it is Iracing

No way in hell this doesn't release in the next 2-3 weeks.

Game still doesn't work perfectly for paid customers. November and December are huge holiday months for much of the western world where people buy huge amount of gifts and nearly everyone takes time off. The load on the game is only going to get worse in these 2 months, not better.

Suddenly opening the floodgates to PS+ Members (approx 3-5 mil on PS4 I'm guessing?) doesn't make sense. They are in deep shit already I don't think they want to risk making the situation even worse.

It would be prudent to release early next year after the holidays and when people don't give two shits about this game because of Blood borne and The Order.

Forza Horizon 2 has an option to disable collisions in multiplayer races so you just ghost through opponents which would do wonders for Driveclub MP as it's more focused on time trials anyways.
