Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

I signed it...even if I dont support EVO's product now or will I in the future. I just feel sorry for gamers who bought the game but cant enjoy it. EVO made a mass of it and its now longer than two weeks after the launch.

The studio failed here big time

Your shtick is getting old already.

Really? Did you buy digitally? I'm curious.

Yes, it was a digital purchase. Sony support reps will take your request for refund and pass it along to an approval group. Within 2-5 days you'll have your answer. For most people it appears to be 'yes' to the refund.

And then you will want to buy it back next month!

Nice waste of everyone's time.

Ugh this has been frustrating. Digitally pre-ordered it. Played it. Had a great time for a few days. Decided I would wait until the server issues were resolved to play more because I had other games to get through. So I deleted it. Today I went into my Library to download it again and it kept kicking me out to the home screen. This happens on ocassion so I tried to go through the PSN store and it says I have to pay the PS+ price of $49.99. It appears my original PS+ purchase isn't even recognized.

I'm sure that'll resolve itself but pretty aggravating regardless.

Even if the library wasn't kicking you out to the main UI, you still wouldn't be able to redownload it from there. All it offers you in the library is the option to buy it again. They fucked almost every aspect of this release up.

Damn shame too. Game is a lot of fun.

That is an odd one, and doesn't seem at first blush like it would have anything at all to do with the game's server-side bugs or capacity issues. But there it is.

The game has always been available for me to play, but its always listed on my dash with the $49.99 price instead of the option to rank it. No idea why this is the case or why it hasn't been fixed, but its damn strange.

Still no ETA on the Plus version? This has just about missed it's chance for me. I'll be getting Diablo 3 next week and CoD when it launches so my gaming time will be split between those two for the foreseeable future.

They really need to get this out before the heavy hitters start being released.

While I had it installed it was that way for me as well. In fact, at one point it listed 59.99 then a few days later displayed the PS+ price. I could still rank it though. It was underneath the buy option.

EDIT:
Try checking the Download List from web store.

I just tried it. No dice. Still asked me to buy.

Same here. I had a passing interest in the free version and would probably have bought the full version at some point just to have a cool new PS4 experience. But this has been such a cluster that my money will definitely go elsewhere.

They really could have raked in some scratch with this one, and I'm worried to see what happens to the devs after the massive failure of this launch.

I saw this game set up in a Sony store I randomly walked into today, so I given that I apparently won't play the PS+ version until next year at this rate, I decided to make that my "first impressions demo" instead.

I don't actually know what kind of expectations I had going in, but I was underwhelmed. The IQ wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be (way more jaggies than I was hoping for, relatively low LOD in the distance, and I think I may have spotted no AF but I'm not sure), and it may be because I just finished playing through DiRT 3 on PC at a buttery smooth 60 FPS and completely jaggy free, but Driveclub felt extremely sluggish. It probably has something to do with the cars driving at very high speeds that made the low framerate all the more noticeable for me. Driving felt OK. Not great, just OK. The "feel" of the game really felt wrong to me on a first impression, the combination of kinda-drifty arcade physics and the 30 FPS on really high speeds really made everything feel sluggish.

I could probably enjoy it a bit if I really sat down and sank my teeth into it, but after playing that race I can safely say I can definitely live without it. I put the controller down immediately knowing I can wait several more months for the PS+ version if need be. I have no interest in buying the game soon, I'll probably wait for a price drop down the line but realistically, it looks like the PS+ version will be enough Driveclub for me. The experience really didn't feel like something I wanted to pay a premium on.

Try going to the computer based PSN store, if you haven't already! Force the download from there.

ive had this game a while now but i went with afriend tonight to pick up his copy (he caved), the guy at gamestop was pushing him fairly hard not to buy it saying it was a "glitchy mess" and he should wait. while i knew he'd enjoy what was there for singleplayer, hes right in that the game still is broken. only reason i pay this, is the damage is being done at this point, the word of mouth on it is devastating.

Dont feel sorry for us. We'll live. Now let's see if you can troll another Sony related thread.

That last paragraph had me in stitches.

Absolute disaster, clearly after one year it still wasn't ready.

The game played as a launch game during the beta, inc ALL features working. Something underneath the hood was fundamentally wrong but the beta didnt bring it to light.

Its a fuster cluck but such as shame as im enjoying the game so far, only gripe they should have included private lobbies day one!!

I was wondering what happened to the free PS Plus version until I found this thread. Oh well, I am having too much fun with Forza Horizon 2.

Could everyone in this thread who thinks the one year delay for this game was to fix the network/server issues we're seeing now please stop posting? The delays were NOT because of it, so kindly please shut up.

Thanks.

You're The only person I've seen mention it on this page.

Are you trying to provoke them?

Can't believe a 1st party release would be such a disaster. Does anyone even really care anymore? Downloaded Spelunky tonight and have officially moved on. Will be interesting to see if Evo lives to make another game though... or even long enough to complete the weather patch.

Like this guy?

I laugh at anyone passing accusations of me provoking people in this thread. There are a few obvious ones, but I assure you I am not one of them.

There's nothing wrong with what he said...you literally can't refute anything he said, unless you are of the opinion that the game is indeed ready for consumer launch?

The game was not ready to be released in the state it was in. Whether anyone realised that before it launched is irrelevant. Thinking its ready is not the same as it being ready.

This opinion supported by the fact that custom lobbies and replay modes, staples of online and racing games respectively,,are patch-ins.

And in the context of this being a PS+ version thread! that isn't ready either, because the game is broken.

Regardless of the reason for the delay, the game was neither feature complete, nor ready for public release, for whatever reason.

There was a post in the thread "Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues" that said:

Implying that the year delay was to fix the server issues.

What is it I'm trying to refute, exactly? Was the game 100% ready to go at the expos last year other than network/server issues?

If you want to find the thread about the game releasing in a state that wasn't ready for public consumption due to missing modes and features, I'm sure there is one. But this one is to discuss the PS+ delay for the server issues. General complaints about the game proper are not for here.

It's exactly the same reason people like cool_dude shouldn't be shitposting links for people to get refunds on the full game. It's just not for this thread.

Hopefully people will get to try the ps+ version sometime soon, it's a great game despite the online issues and I'm sure loads if people will like it.

He said that it's been a disaster. As far as launches go, it's a pretty accurate statement.

He said the game wasn't ready. It isn't ready. He never said why. The game wasn't and isn't ready for consumer release. It's broken. That's a fact.

YOU are implying he implicitly meant due to server issues. He never said that, or implied anything other than the game wasn't ready. That statement is true. A solid fact. It wasn't ready. Not realising there's a game breaking bug in your code doesn't make a game ready.

You saying he means because of servers is not a fact, it's your own projected conjecture in order to actually have a point to make. He didn't say it, you are.

Everything he did actually say, is 100% correct and can be verified by anyone with eyes.

All parties involved with this launch should be ashamed. How long has it been now?

I was actually interested in trying the ps+ version of this so i could see if I wanted the full version. Haven't gotten the chance yet. I most likely will move onto other games and not have the time to mess with driveclub.

I understand launching a game is not always easy but this was a ridiculous debacle. They most likely lost a bunch of upgrade sales because of the delay.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

Hopefully lessons will be learned by the developers. This is nuts and a bad look.

Well they did say the reason for the delay was to get the dynamic menu & the community features right so they kind of should have the online sorted out before launch.

"Whenever you fire up the game; between every race you play, and when you log in to DriveClub on your phone or tablet, the dynamic menu has to be slick to ensure your experience is seamlessly connected. Essentially it’s where you discover what to play, and who to play with.”

Believe it. The bulk of the reason was the dynamic menu.

“We wanted to make sure we got one important feature right,” said Rustchynsky. He further stated that the online racer will be defined by its community, and improving the dynamic menu means that the game’s eponymous clubs are more accessible.

Lets not forget that the stated reason for DriveClub's delay was for the dynamic menus and social integration. That's all server related, and it seems like exactly those very elements of the game that have been offline, available intermittently or just plain unreliable since launch.

Edit: beaten above. Connecting the delay to the parts that are busted and being reworked right now really isn't a stretch.

Not if the blame is partly on the publisher. Doesnt seem like they were given enough servers.

I would be surprised if that was something dictated by Sony. Given how much support they've given Evolution to push Driveclub really hard as a definitive product, it'd be very odd if they then turned around and didn't offer Evolution the server infrastructure they were asking for.

Not impossible - I've known pubs make some pretty strange decisions! - but certainly unexpected.

If your done with the game you should probably move on...

I am completely done with the retail version. I'm a PS+ member, though, so I am waiting for my free edition like most everyone else. If *you* can't handle talk about how broken this game is, perhaps *you* should stay out of threads specifically talking about how broken the game is. Or keep blindly defending everything about it. Your choice.

So do you guys think it will be out this month?

You would think that it would come with Novembers plus games now, although if the servers are still just barely coping with people who bought the retail game I dread to think what would happen if it gets released to 7-8 million playstation plus users

So do you guys think it will be out this month?
The game still doesn't fully work for the purchasers so it's safe to say they couldn't handle releasing the Plus version now. It's certainly more than just number of servers though that's an easy fix. There are clearly fundamental issues with the way the networking is handled in this game that they have to solve.
