DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

I don't know if this tweet from yesterday has been posted.

Very interesting.

I actually thought that for example the circuit used in last year's Gamescom demo was what they meant by race tracks, but I guess they are actually going to have dedicated (imaginary) race tracks.

Interesting. I wonder how they'll look. Get the feeling they'll be more interesting than your typical real world race tracks.

If nothing else it will allow them some freedom in the trackside decor that you don't get in trying to emulate real world tracks.

I wonder if they have any tracks, racing or otherwise that go through significant urban areas? Through a fictional city. I think all we have seen is a few roadside houses here and there, nothing highily populated.

Agreed. DLC is possible. Just saying their current plan is to have one in each of the 5 countries.

Fingers crossed it's released as DLC.

I guess it's possible, although it'd be odd if the Ring were the only real track in the entire game. And like tranciful mentioned, building a fictional track allows more freedom and less criticism. People know what to real tracks are supposed to look like, so you then have to focus on making sure every little detail is correct. And that's a lot of work for a track that's as big as the Ring. They're probably be better off making their own version of that track. One that's based on it so that they're still given freedom in terms of actually designing a track that they want.

I don't know, it's going to feel strange playing the closest thing we'll ever get to PGR and not having the Ring.

Understandable why it won't be in and perhaps the fictional tracks based on it will be just as good, but I do hope they entertain the idea of releasing it as DLC to complete the whole PGR package.

Wonder if any of the tracks in the game will be city based? City based tracks with this engine would surely look incredible!

Imagine a PGR DLC that faithfully recreates all the PGR tracks! O_O

MS will sue them wouldn't they? :/

F' me! Imagine if they patch in Morpheus support down the line...

I could see it for GT7, if they come out at around the same time. Would be much easier as GT7 will be designed around 60fps.

Hopefully they go for some fantasy settings, not too realistic. Forza series had some nice made up tracks which I loved.

I hope they don't show them. I want to experience any city tracks for the first time at home in glorious 1080p, not via some crappy youtube or facebook video that doesn't it any justice at all.

This would be incredible, but yeah, MS would probably sue.

Based on what we've been shown until now, it looks like we won't have cities, either. So what?
DC may recall you PGR memories, but it's clearly not a new PGR game.
It's a new game with another name and other rules. Just move along.

I'm no prophet, but I'm almost 100% certain you won't ever get real life tracks in DC.
The game is all about fantasy tracks in somewhat existing settings.

If I were to guess how DLC will work in this game, I'd say there'll be car packs and location packs, with the latter including their bunch of tracks for this location.
We may also get some more individual tracks for an existing location, but I don't think it's that desirable if the 11 tracks per location are sufficiently varied already.
One city track per location would be tits, however.

Great news. Some of my favourite tracks in past Forza games were the fictional ones; it just allows the devs to be more creative. Hopefully they create some that will be regarded as classics in the future.

I hope they get really creative/crazy with it! Make it a hidden unlockable if you must, but some racetracks with awesome declines and turns would be awesome. Pay some tribute to Motorstorm too ;)

I will be disappointed if the track creator is only limited to these small race circuits.

My Gamescom hype has totally gone down the shitter :(

Will these fictional race tracks be like the Super Special stages in the earlier WRC games?

I hope so too. I'd love some really wacky tracks that look really out of place when compared to the vanilla ones.

These fictional tracks going to be in the same 5 environments as the other 55 tracks or will it be different? I hope they're entirely different environments. Can't wait to see that WiiU/PS4/X1 pic thread blow up with DC pics.

I was thinking that too. I'm going to be living in that thread when i get DC. Not breaking the 3 pics per post rule is gonna kill me, lol.

Since PGR used real cities, barrier placements are pretty much the only thing MS could really contend. Would probably not be smart to call it a "PGR DLC" pack though.

Would have to be one hell of a DLC, as it'd likely dwarf the actual game's content.

Having played this at the last two E3's I gotta say I don't really see where the PGR comparisons are coming from (as a fan since Metropolis Street Racing). If anything, Horizon 1 (and 2 from what little I played) are much more PGR-y in gameplay feel, points-racking fun, and overall spirit than DC. DC wasn't really that fun to me last year, but it's come a looooong way since then in both looks and feel and I'm looking forward to it now. But the "next PGR"...? Nawww.

Has a track creator ever been confirmed? I see you mention it a lot but I don't recall seeing any evidence?

Agreed. I was just pipe dreamin' :D

I'm pretty sure Wax is the only one who has mentioned it. Ever. In the history of the boundless metaverse.

It started as just wanting it, and then waiting for a reveal that never came, and now hoping it isn't as limited as previously imagined. Its kinda spooky.

I am curious to see his reaction of there isn't one in the game. Will he be disappointed, feel lied to, or just resigned?

Move on for a google maps based track editor for GT7 that also has the ability to time travel and recreate old Spa with 2 clicks.

As a side note, I do wish DC lets us have a full photo mode both in the Infamous style, pause any spot and take a picture, and also with a free car place mode and adjustable weather/time of day conditions. And very important, and something I have never seen done, allow multiple cars to be placed, including those of our clubmates. So we can take nice club group photos.

I just want to see some heavy foggy track footage and i'll be set until release

don't even know why i love fog so much, especially in racing games lol

Sony should release a webM exporter and have 'webM Mode' for all releases going forward. Should be an option on the Share Menu.

Speaking of which this game still has first person, walk around, out of the car stuff right? Not sure if we've seen anything along those lines since, what e3 last year? Unless I'm forgetting, which I do.

Themed DLCs would be too dope.

The City DLC (no traffic, of course)
The Mountains DLC (with ability to fall off a cliff)
The Serpent DLC (winding roads + fast cars = heaven)
The Waterfront DLC (fuck it, let's go WaveRace 64 on this motherfucker)
The Rugged Expansion Pack (MotorStorm lite)

Who's with me? Make it happen, Rushy.

Yeah Rushy confirmed it recently. It's still unclear to what extent you can control it though

Woah! Wait a minute...Are we talking TDU style action? I loved the "RPG Lite" aspect of that game with character creation and clothes and stuff. Sure it was pretty weak but I am a sucker for digital clothes!

I'm all for city based race tracks!!

+1 for Infamous SS-style photo-mode. It needs to be a staple feature in all of PS4's exclusives, imo. If DC doesn't have any sort of photo-mode, I'm going to cry (and stalk tweet Rushy).

BE WARNED!

Haven't played TDU, but yeah you can choose your driver and select from a small range of outfits. We have seen some walking around the car/entering animations before a race. Not sure if you get to fully control the character or if it's a canned animation. I'm thinking it's the former, but not sure yet.

Photo mode is coming, but not at launch. Probably around the time of the weather DLC.

Confirmed already but might not be at launch. We really need a bullet point list, this keeps coming up!

As for city tracks. Yes plez. I'd imagine they would be very time consuming to make though in such detail.

In a hypothetical sequel, I want to drive through rural Japan while it's raining. That's my DriveClub dream right there. It would be beautiful.

I'm not sure I would have played in full manual mode if it were available, but I own a T500RS+TH8RS combo, and am looking to make more use of the shifter (used in its full H-mode glory, not in its sequential mode).
I've tried using it in GT6, but the way this game handles pedal clutch just makes it an uncompetitive option.
Well, let hope Project Cars will make good use of it.

And options are nice, my friend.
Why would you prefer for someone to not have the option?
Don't get me wrong, I won't be upset if the option is there (and I'll certainly use it) but a) I don't think it fits in with the ideals of the game (a purely personal thing, obviously) and b) it creates an additional uneven playing field between upper-tier players and casuals, something the game is trying very hard to avoid.

I'd be surprised if Japan (especially a Fujimi Kaido-esque) locale doesn't become available at some stage during Driveclub's lifecycle. VERY surprised.

Love the idea of winding mountains for tracks, and I'd just flat out like to race through woodlands... just through some tracks in the heart of caves and forests.

Anyways, what's the content like for this game? Do we know what SP will be like? Are there a good variety of modes? One mode I'd love is "Lap eliminator" from Burnout. Person in last place gets blown up :D

There's going to be a Grand Prix type mode too right? Those would make fun GAF nights
