DS at E3... 2d gaming nirvana?

Can anyone honestly say that the DS rocked at E3 this year??? E3 was awesome for 2d gaming this year... I had a blast playing the DS games... incredible lineup and easily IMO the platform of the show.....

Sonic Rush
Castlevania
Super Mario Bros
Viewtiful Joe

2D gaming is definetly back and kicking butt..... the king of them all would have been some rumor of a Metriod 2d game... hmmmm....... wonder what happened to that......

Yeah. My DS should stop collecting dust very soon. I just hope they churn out more awesome 2D titles and stop trying to make shitty looking 3D games.

It's not a rumor, it just wasn't publicly shown. I'm betting a print magazine has the exclusive on it and nobody else can move yet.

As a certified DS hater...I really look forward to these titles.

But I have to be clear...I thought, and I still think that the dual screen setup with a touchscreen hasn't proved itself to be very useful for most titles. I would have much rather had a more powerful GBA, with a single screen that was touch screen.

I sounds like Sonic uses both screens fairly well...but I still think dual screen was a horrible gimmick.

And another funny thing is that we ARE seeing some 2D games on it, which is great...but the reason for that is because it does pretty bad 3D visuals, and so developers stick with 2D. The fact that it's 3D capabilities is less than stellar is a blessing in disguise. Using that extra horsepower for 2D visuals...it's awesome IMO.

The DS line-up was great at E3.

Only thing I was disappointed in was Castlevania. It looked good and all, but the control felt a bit akward. I've never been a CV person though, so maybe it's supposed to feel like that. In fact, it felt like the original CV for NES...which I wasn't a fan of.

Anyways, DS was rocking it at E3 in both 2D and 3D. Sonic Rush looked and played great (first sonic game in a long time I enjoyed), Mario Kart was just plain awesome, meteos, of course, rocked, and nintendogs was too cute to ignore. DS is gonna sell a lot this year.

DS vs PSP at E3, it was clear who won in terms of software, and it wasn't the PSP. That being said, I can't wait for namco museum for psp...that was about the only PSP game I really enjoyed at the show (burnout was ok too).

The DS rocked HARD at E3 this year, and anyone who says otherwise is a LIAR.
What'd you think of the new super mario bros? It felt a bit weird to me...lacking much detail or something. Stages felt kind of empty and simple. It was fun though, if not just for the sake of being a new 2D mario.

I just really wish that with the upcoming release of the GBMicro, developers would make more desirable GBA games then they are. I know there are already some one their way (FE, etc.), but I want more.

Screw DS and it's uncomfortable hardware :(

I thought the New SMB stages were pretty much demos. I highly doubt they'll be in the final game -- they seemed to pretty much be slapped together just to show off the new features.

I like it a lot. I can't wait.

DS E3 showing really made me feel great about my moving to handheld only until the next generation. I will be the happy travelling gamer.

They needed to put metroid online though. Since I won't have H2 anymore I need to be shooting people from GAF somehow :(

That's kind of what I expected all along. Mostly 2D with some nice 3D touches here and there.

I've already been surprised by the DS's 3d capabilities. I wasn't expecting much at all; considering, I think there has been some nice PS1 quality 3D. This is also first generation DS software.
