DS Polarium (One Line Puzzle) US release date. Sooner than you think

stuck my tongue deep inside Atlus' cookies
When One Line Puzzle was announced for a US release it was given "TBA 2005" which generally means "2nd half of 2005" at best.

Nintendo updated their game page, and the release date is now a surprisingly early March 14th. Granted thats what it should have been to begin with... but its still a pleasant surprise, imo.

Now all we need is Band Bros. announced for April or so and we're set.

Any word on the price point?

After the delay in localizing Konga, I wouldn't be surprised if Band Bros. didn't show up until the end of this year :\

Nice to see the DS lineup starting to take place after a pretty empty January (with just a delayed Zoo Keeper)...

-Wario Ware Touched! (02.14.2005) Nintendo
-ROBOTS (02.22.2005) VU Games
-Bomberman DS (03.01.2005) UbiSoft
-Pac-Pix (03.01.2005) Namco
-Rayman DS (03.01.2005) UbiSoft
-Tetris DS (03.08.2005) THQ
-Pokemon Dash (03.14.2005) Nintendo
-Polarium (03.14.2005) Nintendo
-Yoshi Touch & Go (03.14.2005) Nintendo
-Need for Speed Underground 2 (03.21.2005) Electronic Arts
-Retro Atari Classics (03.22.2005) Atari
-World Championship Poker: Deluxe Series (04.05.2005) Crave
-Frogger DS (04.18.2005) Konami
-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (04.18.2005) UbiSoft
-Viewtiful Joe DS (05.07.2005)
-Metroid Prime: Hunters (05.28.2005) Nintendo

...I'd expect to see Jam with the Band, NanoStray, Another Code, Yu-Gi-OH!, Egg Monster Hero, Puyo Pop Fever, Meteos, Pac'n Roll, Goldeneye and some others to make it sometime in the first half also.

Those are all placeholder dates, methinks. I'm SURE bomberman is. Literally nothing is known about it. At E3 all they had was normal bomberman gameplay... didn't even use the touch screen. I'm almost as sure that Pac Pix is as well. Unless what we saw at E3 was one of a bunch of Namco-themed minigames, I don't think its sustainable as a whole product.

What are they thinking? Its like during the Holiday season when there are so many games released that a few really good ones just get looked over and don't get any sales.

DS dev kits weren't around much until summer, I'm guessing. Everything we saw at E3 was VERY early.

I think all 3 will hit in March, though yes the 1st date is probably just placeholder. Rayman 2 was delayed to implement multiplayer modes (a la Mario I'm guessing) and should be ready for Euro launch (mid March). Pac-Pix is releasing in Japan March 10th now. Bomberman DS looks pretty far along I'd say going by the screens we've seen (all 2D over dual playfields), it's been in development almost a year already and UbiSoft's suddenly shown up as a publisher. It might not make March, but I bet it'll release sooner rather than later.

If there's one title I'm skeptical of, it's Viewtiful Joe DS in May. I know it's coming eventually, but May seems so ...soon for a game we've seen nothing of.

Now THAT's a placeholder date. Of course, Capcom does have some sort of event or whatsit next month to show off new games, so it's not entirely out of the question.

Bomberman, though, that's just about to be announced. The finished boxart at EB would serve as a dead tipoff.

The Japanese lineup

Band Brothers
Polarium
Pokémon Dash
Wario Ware Touched

and

Yoshi's Touch & Go

is what Nintendo should have launched with in the US. The launch lineup was unforgivably weaksauce (didn't hurt sales, though). Let's see if they have anything better in store for Europe. There is no excuse for less, as those games seem to be localized for March in US.

I'd imagine they're thinking "Crap! We better have some stuff on shelves when PSP launches!". :P

I've got a feeling Joe might be further along than we thought. Don't you find it a little surprising Capcom's had pretty much nothing ready or shown for DS so far?

As has been said before, that was an effort to give 3rd party games a chance in the spotlight. Worked out well for some (Spider-Man 2, Madden) but not others (Feel the Magic, Mr Driller). I expect Europe will get a flooded 1st party launch like Japan, since DS is going head to head with PSP there again.
