DS price with BestBuy Discount

I know there are quite a few Best Buy employees on these here forums and I'm wondering what you guys are buying Nintendo DS for?

I know when I worked for KB Toys, we weren't given a discount on video game hardware, only software and accessories. I guess there isn't much of a mark-up on consoles, from what I understand.

It's not that there is no discount. It's that the systems are sold pretty much AT COST. Nobody makes money on the hardware usually. BestBuy's discount is the cost that Bestbuy paid for it + 5%. On the DS you may save like 50 cents or something, nothing to really write home about.

ive never bought a game with my discount but from what i hear its like $45-$47 +tax.

cd's you save like a quarter.

I remember back in the day when i worked there and they still did open box discounts on systems.

If you were nice to the manager that marked the prices you got hooked up. Such was the case when I got my 70 dollar xbox when retail was 200.

Games were 10 bucks off.

Depends on the game... $41-45 for a $50 game, sometimes lower. I seem to remember that PSO Episode III on the Gamecube was offering a good discount (sub $40) upon release. Too bad I was broke at the time.

CDs and DVDs vary wildly. Sometimes it's 50 cents, sometimes it's half price. It usually is the former of the two though.

Witho our discount the DS is MORE expensive. Cost plus 10%, the cost is just a few dollars less than the retail price, do the math.

Wait a minute, it's cost plus 10% now? When I worked there a year ago it was cost plus 5%. Stingy bastards.

So basicially, CAGs get better deals than employee discounts. Ha!

This is pretty much universal now. Local Fry's Electronics Sale prices beat out any EB/Gamestop/Game Crazy type employee discount.
