DS RPG's in development

Off the top of my head, the only one I can think of coming out this year is Mario & Luigi 2 Time Travel Bungaloo or whatever it's called. I know Vandal Hearts, Xenosaga, Baten Kaitos, FF 3, and FFCC have all been announced/mentioned, but I haven't heard jack about any of them in god knows how long.

We might get a got look at some of these games at TGS.

My hunch is FF:CC is being timed for the Revolution version and will feature cross platform on-line play, which means we won't hear about it until next year.

Go read some Japanese reviews or US impressions. Basically the story is good, but a lot of people don't like or are iffy on the dual gameplay system. Also I see a lot of complaints about the dash using up your stamina or something, but I have no idea what that's all about. From the movies I've seen I don't like the graphics, the music is poor, the battle screen is badly set up and akward to read on the top, I could go on and on. I know Famitsu gave it a 6/9/6/6 which isn't too hot, anybody know if anyone else has reviewed it yet?

edit: Check out this thread, and IGN also has some videos up. If you honestly like the IGN videos, there's something wrong with you. To be fair I haven't seen any other videos though.

Oh, and there's supposedly a Seiken Densetsu game coming out for DS I think too. Been rumored it'll be World of Mana, along with a Rev release as well. I'm pretty sure the Rev part is fake, but I think an SD going to DS has been confirmed. Goes along with all those other games I mentioned that were announced, but no one's heard anything about in quite a while.

Here you go:

• Azure Dreams (Working Title)
• Baten Kaitos (Working Title)
• Battles of Prince of Persia (Hybrid?)
• Boktai (Working Title)
• Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
• Deep Labyrinth
• Digimon World (Working Title)
• Dragon Warrior Monsters (Working Title)
• Egg Monster Heroes
• Far East of Eden (Working Title)
• Final Fantasy III
• Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (Working Title)
• Iron Feather
• Legend of the River King (Working Title) (Hybrid)
• Londonian Gothics
• Lunar: Dragon Song
• Magical Vacation II
• Magic Pengel/Graffiti Kingdom (Working Title)
• Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
• Monster Rancher: Jamboree
• Monster Summoner (Working Title)
• Pirate Battle (Hybrid?)
• Pokémon: Diamond Version
• Pokémon: Mysterious Dungeon: Blue Rescue Force
• Pokémon: Pearl Version
• Pokémon Ranger
• Project DA (Working Title)
• Seiken Densetsu (Working Title)
• Shin Megami Tensei (Working Title)
• Spectral Force (Working Title)
• Vandal Hearts (Working Title)
• Western Lords
• World Reborn: Unification (Hybrid)
• Xenosaga (Working Title)
• X-Men Legends (May have been cancelled...)

I can't say I care to follow games that don't have titles yet, so you won't find "New Namco RPG" here. Also, most of the games with "Working Title" next to them are either a)new entries into their respective series (see: "Seiken Densetsu"), or b)possible ports (see: "Azure Dreams")... These, and the few that don't fall into those categories, simply don't have announced titles yet.

List also excludes adventure games, majority of hybrids, etc. I did leave "Battles of Prince of Persia" & "Pirate Battle" on there, however, as there really isn't enough information to tell which genre they fall in yet, be it vanilla Strategy or Strategy/RPG... Figured I'd just include 'em so I didn't get bitched at for leaving 'em off. ;)

Anyway, feel free to add onto the list if I forgot anything.

Wha..Wha..whattttt!?

Err, Lunar DS isn't even made by Gamearts...so who cares? It looks bad and it's by a developer with a mediocre track record. I won't even bother with it personally and I liked Lunar/Lunar EB.

The only other games I know of from JAM are the Saturn/PS1 Lunar remakes?

Azure Dreams was cancelled by majesco.. gamestop sent out corporate e-mails to cancel all reserves and pull the reservation sku as majesco stated it to them.

Majesco has nothing to do with Azure Dreams. It's a Konami made Dungeon Crawl for Japan.

Azure Dreams hasn't even been officially announced yet. All we know is that it's being shown for the first time at TGS this year and that KONAMI is showing it.

I didn't think the video or screenshots looked bad. Have you played it? What don't you like about it? The features and writeups have been coming in and look pretty good so I would like to know some honest feedback before I keep or take it off my list. Beyond "It looks like it sucks"

It's more of the fact that purists hate it because it's trying to be different than the other games. The characters aren't midgets, the battle system is totally reworked, and they try to add a realistic yet annoying feature to running.

From what I gather, though, it's an RPG with a great story and gameplay isn't "bad," it's just really weird.

While Japan Arts Media directly developed Lunar: Dragon Song, the game was still wholefully supervised by Game Arts. So, no worries.

I've checked IGN and they list very few titles in development. Anyone have a real list?

How ever few there are that list is still larger than the PSP list....

Yeah like how Gungriffon Blaze was directly developed by Koreans and was still wholefully supervised by Game Arts! No reason to worry! Oh wait.... :lol

Don't you mean Gungriffon: Allied Strike? Anyway, that's Gungriffon. Lunar has more pride and joy. :D

Sadly though it's probably yet another fucking remake of Lunar or Lunar: Eternal Blue. :P
ARGHJHVM!!!

Actually, my money's on either a Grandia spinoff (Parallel Trippers 2?) or the Pure Dragon ARPG thing that was suppossed to be on GBA.

Gotta remember the Game Arts plan for remaining financially viable: Release Lunar remakes to fund new project.

With my luck it's Lunar yet again, and if we're lucky something else. Pure Dragon was probably dropped by now after the S-E thing.

Yeah... it just seems that GA hasn't ever been too interested in handling Lunar remakes themselves. In fact, they don't seem too interested in handling anything but Grandia themselves these days. Marvelous gets Lunar and Tecmo gets Gun Griffon... Silpheed, Yumimi Mix, Sangokushi and everything else gets ignored while GA focuses on Grandia.

GA's last handheld game was Lunar: Scrolling School for GG. I'm expecting something along the same lines for Grandia being their DS RPG, an original "kid foucsed" spinoff retaining the style of the original. You're probably right about Pure Dragon though.

Did another developer make Grandia: Parallel Trippers then? I still need to track that one down (underwhelming or not).
