DS vs. PSP in an EB

You know, I'm used to seeing DS vs. PSP stuff.. well, on every forum ever, but not so much in real life. Saw something interesting tonight though.

I was at EB with my girlfriend tonight, looking at the DS games, when I noticed the used DS game card box.. holder.. thing, was ripped open. I pointed it out to the guy who works there (for an idea of what kind of person he is: kind of looks like Jesus, very dirty, sounds whiny -- told me a month ago if I preorder Twilight Princess I'd get a realistic Wind Waker because it's "pretty much confirmed") and he was like "Well, looks like someone stole Spider-Man 2". I then said "Yeah, it sucks anyway." His response? "Probably wouldn't if it was on PSP."

Uh oh.

Just then, out of nowhere, a customer who just got to the front of the line said "You know Spider-Man 2 is on PSP right? And it still sucks?" "Yeah, but it's still better than the DS one, mainly because it's on PSP."

This obviously annoyed him, and the EB guy noticed this: "You should try out the PSP, I think you'll be surprised," to which the DS fan said "I would, but I don't have $300 to spend ona PSP and one of the games worth buying.. like, uh, You Got Served." "That's a movie." "That was the point."

The EB guy kind of giggled (which looked really creepy, I might add), and walked away to grab something. My girlfriend and I walked out of there very awkwardly and went into GameStop.

But yeah, I thought that was a pretty funny story. I never see that kind of stuff, but I guess DS/PSP people are more emotionally attached to their system than I thought, heh. Is this like, common for you guys? Because again, I never see stuff like this.

:) Hehe, good story...

I know my friend and a EBgames worker got into a little discussion about the handhelds. The guy working at EB traded in his DS towards a PSP but stated that he plans to buy the DS back after reading about some of the new game announcements. Seemed like a level headed guy to me, and he even urged us to buy Kirby Canvas Curse (of course I stayed out of the conversation, I already have the game).

None of the clerks at any game stores around here really bother me. Game Crazy seems to lean a little toward XBOX Crazy, but it's the closest so I go there a lot anyways.

Eh, I wish I had a Game Crazy or something that wasn't EB or GameStop around here, but alas.

If you ever hear something like that again, simply scream "Yeah, but does it have TWO SCREENS?" and throw a DS unit in his face. Really, there's no better way to win the argument.

Trust me....no you don't.

Game Crazy freaking sucks ass.

I would do anything for an EB or Gamestop around here.

I find it funnier to ask people if I can use my PS2 cds in the PSP.

But yeah, throwing things tends to cause arguments too.

What about "Fry's" or whatever it's called? I hear about it a lot on here, but no where else.

yeah sounds about right.

the only reason he found this funny is cause he agreed with the DS fanboy

Uh, I think if that was the case, I wouldn't have said Spider-Man 2 sucked on DS and I would have actually argued with the guy.

Go away.

Man, I'm so glad my local Gamestop has a knowledgable, level-headed staff. Not one moron in the bunch. Sometimes I'll hang out there for a couple hours at a time just to shoot the shit on games with them.

I went into EB to buy Donkey Konga 2 the other day (friend came over, flipped a coin on whether to get a second pair of bongos so we could both play konga (i had the first one)...so I went and bought it)..

While I was there the guy behind the counter had his 2 friends there with him waiting for him to get off work (it was about 15min until close) and they're all like "Wow, we just asked if anyone ever bought that game." And I told them it was fun if you had friends to play it with, etc. So then they said something about PSP, and I mentioned I mostly played DS..

Anyways...it quickly was becoming obvious they were losing "respect" for my gaming choices. So then they were flipping through a mag while I was checking out and came across an article on revolution and kinda pushed it at me and said "Here, I bet you'd like this.." to which I replied "Oh, ya, it's neat...I saw it while I was at the press conference last month.....Oh, ya, I was at E3."

All of a sudden they were like O_O and started asking all kinds of questions. Then the one guy who was being quiet was like "Ya, he sure told you, man."

So ya...that's my EB story.

Yeah, it's the same around here. They don't seem to favor anything when I talk to them, so it's good. I usually hear people complain a lot more about EB overall too.

Fry's is basically just another Best Buy type store, only they seem to have a wider selection of products, and put some new releases on sale at good discounts when they first come out. I go there every so often, but apart from the games on sale, their prices aren't any better than the other stores.

I would say it doesn't have anything to do with what store it is. It has to do with the people working there. If you've got morons in your local game store, stop going. Order games online instead, and only go to the stores if you have some crap to get rid of. I don't see why you guys continue to frequent stores with horrible service.

And for you guys that "hang out in the store for HOURS" to shoot the shit or whatever, chances are the staff is already annoyed that you are hanging out for that long in the store. I go to EB and talk to the guys/girl there for maybe 10-15 minutes at the most, and that's only because they start up a conversation with me. I know how annoying it can be to have someone hanging around you when you have work to get done.

There's this one guy that comes into one of our stores at least once a week, usually on Sundays, for YEARS now. Doesn't buy shit, just "hangs out" for 2-4 hours and then takes off. If I'm there alone I don't try to be a dick to him, but act like I'm busy and he leaves quikcly. The other guys are too damn nice and let him stay there, then call me up and bitch about him later. :lol

Why do you talk in an EB/Gamestop anyway?

The last (and only) thing I said to the clerk was "Do you have Meteos for the Nintendo DS?"

I'm there to buy my game and jet, not chat.

I mean, I have a girlfriend to bang, hello!

I tend to hate the clerks around here. Just don't want them to bother me.

When I bought Puyo Pop Fever DS ( I think I said this on the forum before so excuse me if you read this and actually cared or something ) the clerk asked me

" Do you maybe want to reserve " - okay, he's paid to say this part, no harm no foul - " any other DS games... there's um..... like... Metroid? I think that's about it "

I smiled dumbly and said no thanks. This was a few weeks after E3 and I was thinking this guy isn't keepin up, oh well for him.

So *you're* the annoying guy that hangs out there all the time while the Gamestop people make faces at you behind your back...hehe. ;)

Don't lie.

We know you had to deny at least 2 magazine subscription offers and six attempts to get you to pre-order something because they just might not have enough next time!

Well, he offered me a bag, but I'm too good for that.
I always get a bag. Where else would I stuff the 40 copies of Madden 2004 I always steal on the way out which I use to prop up various pieces of broken furniture?

But mediocre daily game deals are!

Wario64 never posts mediocre game deals. If not for Wario64, I would never have bought Psychonauts for the one-day-only discounted price of $49.99.

EB employees that don't know squat about games? What iz this world coming to?

If you ever hear something like that again, simply scream "Yeah, but does it have TWO SCREENS?" and throw a DS unit in his face. Really, there's no better way to win the argument.
Good argument? Maybe to joe-consumer, but we all know the second screen iz pointless.

No. Your demi factor should be kickin' in already. Anyone who doesn't respect English enough to write "IZ" as "IS" is the worst kind of forum poster. AOL-worthy. Destruction. Support the fight or go down with CO_Andy.

The funny is not in this thread, demi. Since this is true, you could be helping better the forum community by killing people who write "IS" as "IZ."

I always used to think it was funny when I used to hear the Madden vs 2K sports arguments all the time in a local Gamestop. The clerk(s) was usually Pro Madden, NBA Live, etc. and the consumer was the Sega Sports guy. I stood back and listened to some of the funniest arguements ever. I'm gonna miss those arguemnets a little.

Yes I'll get right on that, right after I cease the trolling as of late and get TToB a job.

Calm down, AmirOx.

My bad english iz about as harmless as the rampant swearing in this forum.

God damn it, demi. You're not helping! TToB doesn't need a job. He needs to be poor and shit so that he can continue having the time to make GAF threads about "Xbots."

TOUCHÈ! But at least I spell "Fuck" correctly. I don't write it "FUK" or "FUX" or anything. I write it properly, because jesus christ just write IS correctly!

Now you gotta admit, if you use the words harmless and rampant in the same sentence, what's the harm with typing an s?

That made no sense.

But seriously, is there a reason why you type iz rather than is?

It's ok, you can tell demi.

He said it's because he wants to insert personality and individuality into his posts.

I did not make that up, demi.
