DS Wireless DL Demos at E3?

Sorry if it's already posted; I did a quick look but it was difficult to do extensive searching without the search feature.

Is Nintendo offering demo download at the show? Should I take my DS with me?

I wish there was a way for me to download these. =[ Could somebody tell us about the demos? How does the downloading work?

Presumably, you go to the downloading station, boot to your bios, and choose the game sharing option. That should load the demo to your DS until you turn it off.

If I can find a good enough demo, I'll leave the damn thing on until another good game is launched :P

um what? theres a working DS emu? and how to get the meteos demo plz :D id love to see how it runs on pc.

I actually did get the Meteos Demo (and made a thread about it, search by my name if interested). It took nearly 3 hours to get the demo though! The wireless access point was swamped, as I and others stood around trying to get the demos - 2.5 hours of my time was in the Zelda line - but sometimes I'd see the following:

Person walks up, loads the DS with a demo on their first try, then quits out and loads another on their next try, keeps going until they've seen/played everything they wanted, then leave.

The rest of us were like 'Connection error AGAIN WTF?!'. I'm sure there was more wireless traffic than expected and that most people were experiencing these issues, but it certainly seemed like some people got... preference? Someone I was standing next to speculated that we had different firmware revisions from those who weren't experiencing the issues (seems unlikely to me, but it's true that I was an first day adopter).

Coincidentally, I went to the PSP booth immediately after, got on the Namco Museum demo, set it to send a game to my PSP and downloaded successfully on my first try. Not that you should compare apples and oranges. :D

My friend took 3 DSes and brought back Meteos, Electroplankton, and the Submarine demo (which does not go into sleep mode, so he had to keep it plugged in whenever possible).

Playing the Meteos demo for five minutes made me want to buy it the day it comes out. Electroplankton is really pretty cool, although it was only one demo with the Mario Bros. invincibility music. And then the Submarine tech demo is actually pretty challenging due to a time limit, but is very unique and fun.

:D

Some people dump the demoes they got from E3. If you have a PCI Wireless lan adapter that is based on the RT2500 chipset(Like Linksys PCI 54G), you can download the custom driver and software to upload them to the DS using your computer.

I am so mad, I only have Feel the Magic and the Metroid demo (and now the Zelda trailer) for the DS, so I figured it be great to download a game and just keep it until I get a new game in a few weeks...

after a bunch of tries I finally get the submarine demo to download, and it freaking goes out on me at some point on a cab back to the hotel...

Nope, sorry. To dump them you'd have to have had a laptop with you at the show. It's too late now.

Dammit.

What was the Feel the Magic demo? Was this at this E3 or a previous trade show?

Any difference to the final game?

apparently they're on the internets, and also ...

...It looks like Microsoft Word has snuck onto the DS and assulted the Meteos text...

Slightly off-topic, but I was pleased to see a Meteos TV commercial today. I'm glad Nintendo's put a bit of money behind advertising it.

As of right now, that site is missing a few of the demos: Polarium and the Zelda Trailer. Polarium is probably the same as the multiboot version from the actual cart, but it just says Polarium instead of Polarium Demo for some reason. The Zelda trailer logo is on one of the other pages, so it might be available in the future...

Hmmm... may have to see about tracking down one of the compatible wireless cards. It would be fun to mess around with. I'm getting the feeling stuff like this will be mostly worthless once they've launched the wireless online network. I can't imagine they won't have an easy way to download them at that point, official or no.

These are compiled nds binaries. Doesn't the wireless loader require binaries to be decomposed into Arm9 bin, arm7bin, header, etc.?

I agree, but until then, enjoy the Submarine demo :)

Though a tunnelling solution may be found for games like Metroid Prime Hunters and Advance Wars DS as a result of Firefly's breakthrough. That's no small benefit.

True, but I think it is quite likely that if the wireless network takes off, that these game will see sequels with the online multi built-in.

These rock :D

Caduceus is a fantastic game, as is Submarine. Let's hope that it becomes a real game.

Also, WarioWare Twisted is a working rumble pak for the Table Hockey game!

Edit: Also, the new version of the Multiboot Loader serves these files just fine.

Any chance Table Hockey is multiplayer? That would be worth getting the card just for that.

I'd for sure get one without any hesitation if they could find a way to bypass the encryption check without me altering my DS. But that is doubtful I'd assume.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem so. There are no configuration options. I really hope they put this (or some derivative thereof) in an upcoming release as an unlockable, with wireless multiplay support.

These are official demos, signed with Nintendo's private key. You can download them without modifying your DS whatsoever, and without needing any hardware other than the RT2560-chipset wireless card.

The submarine demo alone is worth $20.

Yeah I realize this. I thought it'd be more worthwhile if it could run homebrew in the future though. you know emulators and stuff.

Well, you can get a GBA flash cart and run DS programs from there. But, yeah, the only way to directly download homebrew ROMs is reflashing the BIOS yourself, and a fair number of DS-shaped bricks have been made that way.
