DualSense edge is a POS

I zoomed in on a previous picture OverHeat OverHeat posted and think I found the issue..

DS Edge is good, not great. Certainly isn’t a piece of shit. OverHeat OverHeat being a bit of a drama queen here. Most don’t have problems.

Why not just swap the existing button placement?
They are location specific unfortunately, like they have little tabs that only allow them to gomin one location.
The replacements are dirt cheap, just shipping is expensive so I bought a whole bunch at once.
Edit: Stick drift out of the box is bad no matter how you slice it. Having sticks that will eventually drift is bad enough, but for them to have passed QA already drifting on a $200 controller would be rage inducing.

Man, back in my day, we'd get used to controller quirks. Got stick drift? Well I'll keep that controller and learn to make it hum as is, so I'll have a secret advantage the next time local couch multiplayer happens.

Best console exclusive controller ever made.
500hz polling rate on console and 1000hz plus on PC.

I pimped mine out with micro switch buttons and am waiting on reasonable Hall effect analogs to complement it.
So it’s not just the games, but even Sony’s controller perform also best on PC?

Stick drift out of the box is just a defective unit. Sucks, but it happens

I wanted to like this controller as it kind of ticks off nearly every box but I'm not a huge fan of the grip. I prefer when the handles go outward more while the 8bitdo controllers are more vertical. It's the same reason I find the Steam Deck and Switch uncomfortable (I only use the Switch handheld with a Satisfye grip), and in a similar vein the fucking Dreamcast controller as I swear those grips actually face inward.

I still have the other wireless Switch controller they have though despite that. I just didn't need a second controller that's more expensive for a console I barely use.

I know aesthetics shouldn't be super important, but this is one of the ugliest controller I have ever seen. This looks like some 2004 madcatz shit. Their G7 controller however looks great, and I would use it for PC if it wasn't wired only.

Almost. You have to order the xbox replacement buttons unless you are a weirdo and are used to switch placement.
Switch placement? It's been around since 1990. Plus, the buttons don't matter anyway unless you can't press buttons without looking at them.

agreed, also it looks ugly as hell.
I think my problem with the Edge aesthetic wise just the glossy trim and the fact the buttons are black.

I've owned and returned an Edge 3 times. I really want to like it but I just can't. First time was simply because of the cost at 2.66x the cost of a regular controller, second time was me buying one to give it a fair chance and just realizing that I just prefer the feel/grip/weight of the regular dualsense and simply didn't need it, and the third was the 30th Anniversary Edition which I think looks much much worse then the regular 30th and I only bought it because I could and wanted to know I had one if I wanted to. Plus it would sort of render my regular 30th and my custom Dualshock 2 controller (black controller with custom retro face buttons, dpad, and PS buttons) useless as I wouldn't really use them even if I got used to the Edge. My biggest issue with the edge is probably the battery. Using my new 30th anniversary and switching to the Edge when I had it was such a HUGE difference.

Had 3 Dualsense controllers since launch. No issues whatsoever.
Same. I take care of my stuff and when I'm done it goes into it's charging dock. I can already hear the "it didn't happen to me so it mustn;'t be true" people coming though.

I've got two and both been heavily gamed on for 18+months. Zero issues. Favourite controllers I've ever owned. And I've owned loads of expensive custom ones. Only two flaws - we need 4 paddles and better battery life.

Yeah but is also like them just letting you know that this is also what your controller is going to be like a minute after the warranty ends.
My dualsense is still fine, but my series controller is still sat waiting for me to replace the right stick. Both will be the last traditional stick controllers I will ever buy.

Everything is good except those garbage sticks! Mines ended up being unusable because of it jittering and drifting all over the place. I also found that so many have the exact same problem specifically. Which is severe left drift on the left stick.

Sadly anything is susceptible to being bad out of the box

I bought a brand new F150 a few years ago that once you got up around 80 MPH it would drop its 10 speed automatic transmission to 1st gear and felt like we were getting rear ended every time

Our local dealer replaced so many parts including the transmission and would take it for a drive and it wouldn't act up as it seem to only happen after driving it for quite a few miles

After several attempts to fix it Ford eventually bought it back via lemon law

Shit happens

2 have drifted on me so i somewhat agree.

1 failed at the 2 year mark, another at the 1 and a half year mark.

Just a matter of waiting when the third one start drifting. I'm not pushing my controller aswell like if i played cod years ago.

You just replaced the sticks though?

I might attempt a fix on them, have been too lazy to do open it up.

Also i saw a few videos showing that replacing the stick in somecases might not be enough, that it might need soldering.
Nah, I was kinda asking if we were still talking about the Edge, or just normal dual senses... Its just that I have had issues with normal dualsense sticks. But ironically my edge ones, which are replaceable. Have been flawless (and I have 2 new spare stick modules just in case)

When my Elite Series 2's go bad I'll probly replace them with 3rd party stuff from now on. Steam controllers might be my new go to in the future, unless they also do the planned to go bad design of Nintendo, Xbox and Playstation controllers.
I'm on my 4th Series 2 now. And its already starting to get drift in the right stick. It probably doesn't help that I have the stick tensions set to their softest. But still, time for something different next time. Probably Razer V3.

I've never had a single controller in my life with stick drift and I've had almost all consoles since the NES with multiple controllers including the OG Switch and Switch OLED, feels like the issue is overblown or people gaslight themselves into thinking they have it

There's Xbox version as well. It's not a top priority for me right now, but I'll get it eventually.

I don't look at the buttons so it's not a big deal for me and never was an issue in any game I've played which is not out on Switch - which I don't have and never will, same goes for Switch 2.

I got the 30th anniversary edge controller and love it. Having R1 & L1 bound to the triggers on he bottom is game changing. My only complaint is the battery life..

That’s how I have them programmed for Space Marines 2. Makes a big difference. But yeah, battery sucks

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
They want you to buy stick replacements for £20 each.

Two of my normal controllers have drift, for the cost of the controllers they should have hall effect or whatever that new one is called sticks.
They all need suing for this shit (Sony/MS/Nintendo) until they do something about it.
rumored nintendo is going for hall effect joy con for switch 2, i hope this is true so the public could pressure Sony follows Nintendo.

Gullikit hall effect has been cancelled, i suspect sony is the one forcing them to do so.

In my country, the stick module is always out of stock for some reason, and we all knows why

I haven't invested in the dual sense edge. Didn't seem like a great controller.

I have 3 dual sense and no stick drift, but I have one that has been used more than most and the clicking of the left stick has been diminished, and it makes a creaking noise as I click. I bought hall effect joysticks to replace, I only bought 4 so I have to decide which joysticks get replaced. It requires soldering to replace.

I have 2 xbox elite series 2 controllers that both have bumper button issues. I have already opened both and cleaned out the button locations, and it did not fix the problem. I have bought bumper button replacements for those, that I have had lying around for months. I haven't taken the time to open them back up. Also, soldering required for that fix.

I'm not the most experienced soldering scientist, but I like trying to get better at it.

I looked into hall effect joysticks for xbox elite controllers, but apparently the magnets in other locations interfere and it makes the joysticks chaotic.

The Dualsense edge's largest issue imo is the battery life. For a $200 premium controller, it has a laughable 3-4 hours batter life that is even 33% shorter than the regular one. What a clown show.
DS battery life is what it is because that is the biggest battery that will fit in that chassis.

After replacing five DualSenses and one DualSense Edge, I found out the real premium controller is an eBay DualSense that has hall effect sticks swapped in.

I need one of these! Is there a reputable store where I can buy from? I hate eBay.

At this point it is clear that Sony is selling a shit product so we buy new hardware every few months, I bought 5 controllers and they all have drift.

I wanted to buy DS Edge, but the reviews said that it doesn’t solve the drift problem and the replacement sticks are a bitch to find.

Fucking scammers.

Don't waste money on new joysticks, it's useless, they use graphite sensors, they wear out from friction during use, so the life of your sticks is equal to the intensity of your gaming sessions. Hall Effect Joystick - use magnetic sensors and a magnetic field, there is no friction in them, this does not mean that they are eternal, since nothing eternal exists, but they serve for years. The cheapest way (This is what I did) is to simply order sensors for the desired joystick and install them yourself, if knowledge and hands allow. (I have a modified dualsense with 2 hall effect sticks).

If you don't have self-confidence and don't know a master. Just buy a joystick with Hall Effect Joystick already installed, this is of course a more expensive option, but in the end it will save you a lot of money.
