DualSense is the best controller of all time

As far as gaming controllers go, I think we have peaked.

The build quality is pristine. The haptics are mind blowing and the adaptive triggers are incredible – to the extent that DualSense support for a game can decide what platform I play it for. The ergonomics are excellent, the support for gyro and touch input makes it incredibly versatile.

I have my issues with it – the battery life is poor, the Dpad is a step down, and while I have made my peace with symmetric analog sticks, I really much prefer asymmetrical layouts if I have the choice – but overall, it is surprising how much it enhances my game experience. I really love playing a game with a Dualsense every time I get the chance, and I don't think I remember a controller ever being this overwhelmingly preferred for me before.

What say you GAF, is this not your favorite controller too?

That said, battery life is shit and the sticks do fail. Tho the edge addresses that by letting you swap them out. I've had several dead dual sense prior to getting the edge

yes it is my favorite gamepad as well
I like haptic effects and adaptive triggers so much that I played some games just because they supported dualsense
on PC, I have to play with wired but not much of a problem for me. as such no battery problems

For me it is the goat of all controllers. I love the weight and feel in my hand. And the features is greas. It was fantastic on GT7, Stellar blade, Silent hill 2 remake, Astrobot, and Death stranding 1 directors cut.

Well the only negative is the battery life but ti is much better than the Ps4 DS battery life. The goodnews is there is already a patent for a solar powered version, which will help prolong battery life.

I switched to a Nacon Revolution 5 Pro, because I never in my life had more drifting controllers than on PS4 and PS5, and that Nacon has hall effect sticks.

the stick tension is a bit too high as well, and the triggers (not counting the trigger effect functionality) are pretty mediocre. they still use rubber dome pads like the analog buttons of the PS2 controller... yikes... (at least the Edge seems to use hall effect triggers like Xbox controllers do)

the worst part however are the ergonomics. the handles have a super weird shape that gives me cramps after extended sessions, a downgrade from the DualShock 4. it doesn't help that once depressed, the triggers are in a position where you basically push the controller away from your palms, adding to the hand cramp potential as you have to grab onto the controller stringer than you normally would.
...oh and the D-Pad is also worse than the DS4 and feels sub par in fighting games.

the perfect controller for me would be:

Xbox Series X shape, Trigger Shape, Trigger mechanism, Teigger Tension, Impulse vibration and Stick tension
+
Hall Effect Sticks
+
Gyro/accelerometer
+
DualSense Trigger Effect
+
Razer Wolverine V3 D-Pad

that would be THE PEAK of controller design. you couldn't improve anything ontop of that imo

I like it, sadly the down dpad on my Dualsense stopped working (i used it on the PC)
But just wait when Microsofts answer, the Sebile comes out, that will be great on all upcoming games.

Apart from the stick drift. I've been on PlayStation since the PS1 and I've never experienced stick drift issues like I have with this gen. My two boys and I have had to swap about 6 controllers under warranty.

If it had 3X the battery life and Beefier shaped Triggers (like the xbox series) I would agree.
Xbox needs to get on that voice control rumble pronto.

Yea I originally did not like the feel of it but it grew on me. It's my first modern tmr hall effect stick, and the race is on how long it will last.
It is a different feeling controller, I feel like my arms are a little smashed together or something along those lines

But yeah once you get used to it 8Bitdo is superior

I should been never turn of my adblocker...
I performed DS4 better, the action button and DPAD was a lot of better than Dualsense, smaller to grip, thumbsticks was more reliable😁

I still prefer the xbox one/series controller. Best form factor and still a bit more versatile for pc gaming (dualsense doesnt have 100% native support, or at least not without a cable)

The DS's battery is also shit tier.

Do you even game, bro?
It barely has any face buttons!

Here's the real king:

The build is very nice and I like the haptics, but I find the ergonomics of the DS4 better. The back-mid section of the handle "shafts" rubs against the inside of my middle finger knuckles making them sore, whereas on the DS4 they have enough of a dip inwards to avoid this.

I'm mostly a PC guy so I don't play a ton of stuff on PS5, but has any game ever really utilized the touch feature? I've never come across it. Astro Bot maybe? I've gotten more use out of it on Steam for radial menus and such.

It probably is the best first party controller of all time. My favorite controller though is the Flydigi Vader 4.

My ideal controller would be a Vader 4 with a capacitive thumbstick of the Hori Steam controller and the gyro tech of the Input Labs Alpakka.

Several? I have the gentle touch to a healer cuz my one and only Dualsense is still going strong.
Do you throw them like some animal?

Facts! I havent tried all the controllers in the market, but in my gaming experience with all the controllers that i played with, the Dualsense takes the crown. Could use some extra feauture or 2 like back padles and a more reliable tech for the thumbsticks though. So thers still room for improvements.
