6. Get asked to create activision account
7. Refuse, upon which the game shuts down
8. Start the game again, create a motherfucking unnecessary account eventhough the game already uses your MS account
9. Wait for shaders to compile
10. Start Black Ops 6 campaign, upon which the CoD application shuts down and separate BLOPS6 application starts
11. Get a forced update, after which the BLOPS6 application restarts
12. Start BLOPS6 again
13. Wait for shader compilation again, this time for BLOPS6
14. Play the game

I am not exaggerating, this was my process to get into the game and play campaign.

MS and Actard can both go fuckthemselves and I didn't even watch the dunkey video.
I refused the Activision account shit (I just want to play SP) on my Series S and shit doesn't even launch. I'm not sure what the hell went wrong in installation but this is the first time I've experienced a game actually not even launching. This is so bad.

First time in a long time. Last time I played CoD was Infinite Warfare.
It's been this way for a while, especially the shader comp - although, that's not unique to COD and impacts a lot of PC games these days. When they patch you'll also need to re-comp, so be wary of that. The separate EXE thing has been around for a long time, too. I'd recommend double checking your graphics settings - they don't persist between EXEs, and have a bad habit or resetting (my DLSS keeps reverting back to FX for multi, for some reason). But as silly as all that is, the whole thing is worse on Steam because of the extra layer of non-sense of it deferring to the Battle.net client.

You need an Activision account to play. Remember those threads with Steam folks freaking out over making a PSN ID? This is the same shit.

Yeah I was fine with everything but the update part. Having a separate client is bullshit, but whatever. Having a separate client that then doesn't update the game before you launch it is asking a bit much.

At this point it's intentional console warrior FUD.

I don't even understand why you guys keep throwing your money at these games.

From CoD franchise I only ever bought: CoD4 Modern Warfare (20 bucks, retail box), CoD Modern Warfare 2 (7 bucks, steam), CoD WW2 (humble bundle). In fact Activision is a publisher whose games I buy at a rate of maybe two per decade.

BLOPS6 is part of gamepass so I figured I would try the campaign at least.

I bought BO6 on steam and dealt with none of this, although I did have to install 300 gigs+. Maybe because I already had battlenet installed?

You don't have to have Bnet installed, unless of course you have other games on Bnet that you want to play.

You can also select what you want to install on the properties tab of the game, you dont need to install everything. Not very clear unless you are super familiar with Steam.

Dude sounds like a retard and gives retarded advice in the video. I think I was bang on.

If it was meant as a joke then it went over my head because I have know idea who this person is, nor was it very funny.
You not only was bang on as the video also attracted retarded console warriors to the discussion. :messenger_winking:

I’m not a big Pc gamer but I don’t I’ve ever had trouble installing a game going back to the late 90s when I got my own PC except one time I downloaded from an abandonware site Fantasy General. It dumped a folder of files and I couldn’t get it to work trying the .exe file like other games I downloaded. Screw it. So I bought it off GOG on deal for like $2.

Back in the 80s and early 90s my bro who handled all the Pc stuff for the fam would have trouble. Those were the Wild West days where you even had to install mouse and sound card drivers and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. But when windows came around it was smooth sailing. But now everything should work.

Gamepass version just starts like many people mentioned already, no different launchers of any kind.

Careful you don't cut yourself with all that edge

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Looks like a rare case where Steam is the worst way to play the game and all other versions seem to be running fine without any / many issues.

Every version launches the exact same CoD HQ launcher.

It's exactly the same for every console and PC version of the game.

Wait, so the steam version doesn't use the Battlenet launcher at all right? The dunkey video makes me confused about that.

I made a personal point of not buying any game on Steam that comes with an additional client tied in, unless I consider it an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE (which is rare for me, and even then it would be reluctantly and at a lowered price).

Fortunately I don't care even remotely enough about COD to place it in that category.

Ah Dunkey, the number one source for serious content and news.

I get that some doesn’t like him or his content, but going in and expecting a serious video is not a good idea.

That being said, I enjoy most of his videos, especially the rare ones when he’s serious and actually reviews/analyses something.

Took me over a half hour to get the game to launch last night and I already installed it and played it the day before. Its horrendous. And I’m using GP on PC, not even Steam.
