In the end this will end up being modded to allow resolutions and framerates to hell and back though.
No one really knows that and shouldn't expect it either.

If it is truly locked this game has too much attention to not be modded to support it. It's pretty much inevitable.
The norm for a (3D) PC game is (and has been for almost two decades) to run at every resolution supported on the system.
I don't get why this is so difficult for people to understand. It's really simple: people expect it to work the same in terms of available resolutions as about 2000 other 3D PC games released over the past 15 years.
Honestly, trying to portrait that as some "out there" requirement is at least as tiresome as the hyperbole in the other direction. It's not asking a lot, it's not technically challenging, it's not unusual. It's the standard.
The example you bring up (triple monitor and the very unusual aspect ratio that comes with it) is very different. That's something which actually requires some extra effort to support, and which is not the standard expectation across 95% of the 3D games released on the platform.
Someone get Platinum games a downsampling guide.

I guess PCers won't have anything to brag about when the definitive version on next-gen consoles is 1080p too.
What is the point of this post?
It's a parody of the sentiments occasionally expressed by the more obnoxious among PC gamers.

It would be a parody if it was based on reality. Many people have explained already that the availability of resolution options is not about bragging or satisfying those with high-end rigs but about future-proofing a game. But I guess being edgy by resorting to dumb stereotypes is more important.

EDIT: Yeah, what Durante said.
I'm sure that's the case, but I thought we were talking about Stallion Free's post specifically.Every "side" has its zealots.

Yeah, I get why you said it, I just think you are wrong about who he was targeting. We are. That's why I said "It works on both levels", "it" being the post.

Anyway, let's drop this. It's not important enough to become the central argument in this thread.
I haven't read this thread, but I think the situation is pretty simple for anyone who might not understand.
Japanese develoepers don't seem to understand yet that in the west, PC games simply don't have resolution and framerate caps. They don't. That's just the standard of the platform now.
To offer an analogy, PC gaming is kind of like the autobahn. The speed limit is only what your machine can handle.
Also, upscaled resolutions don't look unplayable on TVs because most HDTVs today have decent scalers. Computer monitors don't. Running a game on a monitor at any resolution lower than its native looks much worse than the same situation on a TV screen.

Computer monitors dont need scalers. GPU does all the scaling, just like consoles.

I can't even think of another modern 3D game that supports multiple resolutions up to 1080p and THAT'S IT.
Preorder cancelled. Fuck.
What is it with Japanese games and lousy PC ports?
It's not that simple. You have to consider FOV, aspect ratios, HUD, font scaling etc.this is stupid isnt resolution just a option in the engine? like render the game x by x are they just limiting the game to 1080p on purpose because almost every other game has no limit it will let you play at what ever your display resolution. Im 100% sure we will be able to change this value

My display's AR is not 16:9 and I want adapted FOV.And in this case, I'm not even looking for anything beyond 16:9 support so the FOV would be untouched.
