It's curious that Red Dead Redemption PC requirements are higher than RDR2

My guess, as someone already mentioned, is that the recommended is factoring in features such as DLSS. The minimum doesn't look crazy at all, although needing a GTX 960 for a 360 game is still a little puzzling.

Whatever do you mean saars?

ssd recommended for a x360 game...sounds like terrible optimisation all around.
Tbh ssds are so incredibly cheap that when people tell me they use spinning drives I have a serious HUH WUT moment since even 1tb SATA SSDs have been 60 bucks for years now

Not to mention ALL Rockstar Games stuff benefits from an SSD due to the constant world streaming. Games like GTA IV and RDR were some of the few titles that had actual improvements when ran from a faster HDD or SSD during that generation, so an SSD being recommended now is just that, a recommendation.

Sure, but most people having ssds and games requiring them is not the same. I have 4 drives in my PC, 2 nvmes for games and 2 HDDs for media files. I might occasionally install an older game to one of the HDDs to save space with modern games being 100+ gigs. Nothing wrong with that.

RDR1 is a newer port, from the new codebase. We don't know how much work they did to the game. They're not porting from Xbox 360.

That makes sense, media storage is just fine for that. But in a gaming centric computer not having an SSD is just weird to me.

It's also from that generation where engines loved being single threaded game and appreciated a higher IPC. Remember trying to run Bayonetta past 1440P when it was finally ported?

Because, min/max spec sheets are horse shit. Always have been.

My 10 year old high end CPU manages every current gen game at 60, and it hasn't been on the min spec sheet for awhile

Something tells me the new spec was just tested on those PC's. Doesn't mean with won't run on lower specs. Those generations are very old, even for a new minimum spec.
