It hits home when the people you watched growing up die.
I wish he had a better relationship with the other cast members. But he Played on Saved by the bell and the spinoffs longer than anyone. From Miss Bliss Class to SbtB, to New Class, and College years. I don't think anyone appeared on more episodes of the show than him.

Read this article. I know it's the sun but I believe it. Nobody magically just finds out you have stage 4 lung cancer. He had a huge lump on his throat for a while and never got it looked at. Insane.

Honestly, you could argue that him being so typecast as Screech and then becoming something of a joke due to that role and other decisions he made in his adult life ultimately caused his death. Unfortunately the first thing he apparently found from his lung cancer was a lung cancer tumor in his neck. Even if it was tiny that's metastatic disease which is stage 4 which is terminal unfortunately. If he had gone sooner they might have been able to slow the growth and give him some more time but they pretty much wouldn't have been able to get rid of it.(And lung cancers are notorious for being hard to treat.)Dustin Diamond has cancer & was too afraid to seek treatment earlier, pal says

He died a few weeks after a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Shouldn't the takeaway be to not neglect your health/regular medical checkups and tests?
