Dustin Diamond Dead at 44 After Battle with Stage 4 Lung Cancer

Whenever someone so young dies of cancer, i get more angry than sad.

Seriously, why are humans so powerless over this condition. I know "it's complicated" but jesus, it's taking forever.

How do you screen for Lung Cancer? I have a family history multiple myeloma. I had a colonoscopy after Boseman died. I'd been having issues and I figured better safe than sorry.

Not a doctor but I think maybe a chest X-ray?

Masses and stuff often show up there

Damn... by far the most entertaining character on the old saved by the bell show. Rip Screech. Died too young.

i am just shocked that he even got lung cancer in the first place. I am not a medical professional, but i don't think he smoked or did anything to harm his lungs, so what gives?

if you have a lump, or if you notice something unusual about your body no matter how benign it seems, please dont dismiss it as if it was nothing, go to a doctor right away.

RIP

So ten years ago I almost went out on a double date with screech with my then ex and her friend who was a popular bartender in jersey. He started dating her after a comedy performance he had at a popular bar/comedy club in sayreville nj.(she was bartending there) The date never happened we just didn't care enough to take them up on the offer.

I didn't even realize until tonight when her cousin posted a bunch of photos of her and Dustin together that she died in April of last year..38 years old. I had no idea. Just says unexpectedly on the obituary. I texted my ex to find out details. She was a great person. Geeze

A lot of things can cause lung cancer.. like radon. Our basement has a high radon reading even after spending thousands on mitigation.

Asking if he was an asshole while alive is a ResetEra move.

Well, I don't mesh well with that forum. Always felt more at home here. I wasn't trying to stir the shit stew. I just always heard he wasn't a great guy. Still, he didn't deserve to die like that. There's far worse people out there than Dustin Diamond. Hell, I would have marked out like a little girl if he would have shown up in Season 2 of the new Saved By The Bell. That would have been awesome.

I never saw Stage 4 cancer that didn't result in quick game over. This is what's so crazy: people ignore symptoms and by the time the cancer is diagnosed it's too late.
Don't ignore the symptoms guys, if something is not right go do a checkup.

You can get lung cancer even if you never smoked a day in your life. Granted, you are far more likely to get it if you are a smoker.

Read this article. I know it's the sun but I believe it. Nobody magically just finds out you have stage 4 lung cancer. He had a huge lump on his throat for a while and never got it looked at. Insane.
This. Jesus christ people just check yourself once a year for your own sake. I live with one kidney and from this year on I decided to check it (x-ray) and do a blood/urine test once a year for sure.

Yesterday I was posting something stupid on GAF, then for no reason I looked for some images typing screech on google. I found out his dead was reported just 40minutes early. I was shocked.

Unfortunately in his case the tumor in his neck was the evidence of a stage 4 lung cancer. If he had gone in earlier the only difference is that they would have told him he was terminal earlier. For a chance at cure they would have had to catch in while it was still in one of his lungs. (Which is apparently done via x-ray or low dose CT and if those turn up something then biopsy to confirm a cancer.)
