No boxart for The Brain that Wouldn't Die ($4.95).

No boxart for the two-pack of Hidden/Hidden II.

EDIT: forgot television. Curb Your Enthusiasm S4, House S1, and hell, a bunch of other shows.

Curb Your Enthusiasm S4 and

for me :)

This includes the original theatrical cut, which has never been on DVD before. The previous DVD release was the extended edition (which is also on this disc).

DVDs:
Fire and Ice
Ong-Bak
Sahara

Anime DVDs:
Grenadier the Beautiful Warrior Vol #2
Human Crossing Vol #4
Jubei Chan 2: The Counterattack of Siberia Yagyu vol #2
Lupin the 3rd: Crisis in Tokyo DVD (Uncut)
The Melody of a Young Girl's Heart Vol #2
Ultramaniac Vol #3

Fire and Ice and Blues Brothers for me.

Tommy Boy is tempting, but I don't feel the need to buy it again.

The previews for Lilo and Stitch 2 looked nice, but it's a Disney sequel. I'd definitely rent it first.

How's that Pirates of Silicon Island?

Valley. :)

It's pretty good if you have an interest in how M$ and Apple came to prominence, but I dunno how well you'll like it if not. It's very well acted, and the characters are familiar, but I have a nagging feeling that it's going to be just an above average at best movie if you don't geek out at it.

'course, the only big problem I had with it was the fact they covered the roots, then skipped most of the 90's, then they end it with...somewhere in '99 or so, whenever Gates bought a crapload of Apple stock.

It amazes me how fast movies come out on DVD these days. When I saw Guess Who in stores recently...And now Sahara on DVD already. It's so much faster than it used to be.

There is much money to be had on DVD, the studios want to get them out as fast as possible, even the biggest movies seem to have about 6 months from theaters to shelf.

I remember when it would take like 8 months to 1 year just to wait for the home video version in the VHS days, hell even when it came out on VHS, you could only get the rental version and had to wait even longer for the home sale version, thank god DVD killed that distribution crap.

I bought the barebones edition of Sin City the other day and even though I feel dirty about it, I love the movie 'cause I didn't get to see it in the theater.

I can't complain about the ways DVD's are released, although I don't agree with the media in general. That's what being poor does to you, humbles you.

Hmm, Blues Brothers SE and Tommy Boy are both tempting, though I have to be a tight ass with money now. What's up with the new phrases for special editions though? The "Holy Schnike" edition and "Whatever!" edition. I don't want to buy a special edition, where the way they approached the dvd was "whatever". Give me something like the "We worked really hard on this" edition.

Anyway, other than those dvd's, Fire and Ice is tempting. Real fan of Frazetta's but not so big on Bakshi. Seems better than some of his stuff but still not very good. That cover art is just too good for the movie within I imagine. On next week though, there's some good releases. Bill Murray's Quick Change finally gets a release, as well as the Toy Story 10th anniversary dvd. My most anticipated since The Incredibles and until Batman Begins. Never got my hands on the Toy Box, though I tried quite a few times. The price just kept rising and rising too. So I'm happy about a more focused feature of the original and it's impact rather than Toy Story as a whole saga. Still is bullshit though that they put it 'in the vault'.

Nothing for me this week, saving up for Fraggle Rock season one for next week. Hopefully with holiday it will get leaked this week.

Enjoy it while you can... with the box office slumping, some of the studios have been talking about delaying DVD releases.
