E3 2011 Sony Conference Thread [Over]

Well that was much more refreshing than the bloody fart that was yesterdays MS conference. Here's to hoping that nintendo will be even better for the sake of all our enjoyment

I agree about the Kobe thing, but what was wrong with their apology? I thought it came off very sincere and humble.

He didn't bow to us..........

:p

I rewatched it, i retract my statement, orginally it seemed like he blamed the media for liking bad new or something, nvm.

for ps3 only users pretty bad ...

we saw only old stuff -nothing new

where are:

Getaway
8 days
Agent
New IP from GG
New IP from Cage
Syphon Filter
GT5 DLC...

This conference was waste of time.

As figured, the PS3 took the backseat this time around, but I don't mind it too much (though it's a bit... sad): the U3 trailer's AMAZING, the Dust 514 coup is pretty cool (and if it's true that it's F2P, it's even more alluring) and a new Sly game is interesting even if it's not Sucker Punch directing it. All the Vita stuff is pretty damn sweet though, might be the first handheld I'm buying since the original black and white Game Boy brick!

Wait wait wait, hold your fucking horses

Do I spy with my giddy eye that there was some sort of new Medievil game? Any videos of said game?

Edit: So it's a Move game with shitty chibi-like character design where you don't even play as Sir Daniel? Yeah, fuck that shit.

yes, Dust 514 is F2P, Sony did a bad job marketing it

So Move is already dead then...thanks god I can at least use it to have another control option for FPS'es.

Really Looking forward to playing Uncharted 3

Vita infos are quite huge, but not surprise, most of it had already been announced prior to the show, glad about the 249 EUR price tag and the OK line-up. I'm hyped enough for a launch purchase.

No HUGE PS3 annoucement, I was a bit sad. No Last Guardian, I was REALLY sad.

So-so conference overall, but no particular misstep, a bit like MS, but with the advantage of having a new interesting hardware to show off.

- Not satisfied with the apology. They never said hey we screwed up, but we are doing everything we can to make our online data secure. This will stop. If they keep up this negative momentum they'll fall behind woeful nintendos online. I was impressed with their Netflix claim.

- PS3 games did not excite me. I am not a fan of Uncharted, Resistance 3 looked like more of the same. Dust was the only one that peaked my interest. Starhawk is a huge disappointment. And stop beating the 3d horse!

- Move was just sad. NBA looked bad, and sorcery is gone. In it's place the medieval game looked average but I will withhold judgement for now.

-3d tv thing is lame. 3d feels lame at 50", who wants a 24"? Show me a 1080p 3d projector for under 2 grand and now we have something to talk about!

-Vita was expected to be the highlight and it was. Bit it could have been alot better. Lame name but great price! Lbp looked good. Not too excited about most of the others. Dungeon game and sfxtk looked ok. If you have 80 games in the works announce some. I am afraid launch lineup maybe weak. If only they had a COD demo for vita, it would have owned! Were any ea sports games shown?

Sony is in such a weak state I thought they might pull something gloriously desperate, like showin target bullshot vids to steak nintendos thunder. Guess not :(

Just worken up in the UK and it's sounding like Sony didn't offer much more than MS but still want to catch up for myself.

I can't seem to find a catch up stream though.... any links?

If you don't like uncharted, i feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems, but drake aint one.

HotShotsGolf
Uncharted:GA
SFvsT
Wipeout 2048
Virtua Tennis 4
Sound Shapes
SuperStar Dust Delta
Hustle Kings

& PSP BC titles

I don't see how thats a weak lineup, not even counting the unknown third party

The problem with Sony is they are retreading a lot of information at E3, rather than treating it as a shock and awe campaign like we have come to expect from E3. We had to go through a lot of NGP info and Uncharted Golden Abyss demo like it wasn't something we had seen already and they revealed most of their stuff last week.

I also don't get why they didn't show Last Guardian? They had a playable demo a few months ago behind closed doors, why not use that?

Nothing of note for the PS3, more sequels (Microsoft receive much more flak for this). Move is dead.

Vita pricing saved it, although Europe was screwed as usual.

what are people's thoughts on the PSV UI?

personally i prefer the XMB rather than the app icon design, i won't be able to see my sexy wallpapers with all those bubbles in the way :(

I'm in the same boat, Drake just doesn't tickle my fancy. IMO, it's pretty much the same as the people who dislike halo, half life, or any other of the million selling games out there. Different strokes for different folks.

The point of a conference is to provide those strokes, and neither of the big two today did that.

nothing wrong with personal preference. it's just sounds too much like those same people who don't like halo, that try to downplay it's importance.

Just got back from the conference. Still don't know how I feel about it compared to microsofts, but I left somewhat positive. Uncharted looks sweet and the vita has a good starting price. Move is still something they are trying to force on us but I can just continue ignoring it.

I was very surprised that Sony didn't almost make Dust a star of its show. I mean it would be a cool Sci Fi FPS (when Microsoft was announcing Halo 4 etc) that's genuinely innovative for the genre and is exclusive to their platform, it would have behooved them to really push it, I think.

Did I read somewhere that Agent really does exist?

Because when I spoke to my friend who is part of the Rockstar test team about it a year or so ago, he said that when Sony announced it, it wasn't even off the drawing board.

Microsoft - FPS and arm waving
Sony - Content but dull as shit presentation
Nintendo - ?

Exactly the same as the last E3 by the looks of things

Rockstar has said that they're still working on it and it exists.

It was ok but I really regret staying up for it. Now I'm yawning all the god damn time for what was pretty much a not very memorable conference. I liked Uncharted 3 (although the demo didn't blow me away as much as 2's did) and PS Vita though. Just a shame we didn't get to see The Last Guardian and Quantic Dream's next.

E3 is so sad so far. Only thing that interested me at Sony's conference was Bioshock gameplay. Uncharted 3 trailer looked great but gameplay section was boring and bleak as hell.

God damn it if Nintendo also lets me down I'll go full PC for next years.

If we are going with grades, I'd say C+. Vita pricing, games, and everything else other than the AT&T news was an A. The seeming lack of PS3 games that we didn't already know about was lousy. Why did they elect to show Twisted Metal in such an early state last year when it would have been much better now?

There are a lot of PS3 games I'm looking forward to this year. I just knew about all of them before this conference.

Remind me why console sales matter again?

If you can sell as much as the Wii, all of the best developers in the world will make games for your platform. How can you argue with the stunning Kinect line up?

yes, that was sarcasm

There not forcing it on you at all, its more or less an optional control scheme at this point.

I don't think Sony is interested in making megaton announcements. It is clear since last year, when they revealed games before E3 instead of during E3. They are doing the same things now.

In the end I suppose it doesn't matter. We know they have tons of exclusive games in the pipeline. They just chose to spread out the announcements rather than have them compete for attention at E3.

Lack of astounding surprises is killing the thrill. So far the only "shock" would be the 249 price tag on the Vita.

But overall, incredible things to come, I can't count the games piling in my "wanted" list anymore so all is well in the gaming world.

Good Omen though, still no detailed leak on the "Café", so we might have a fun ride during Nintendo's conference with a lot to discover (provided that we are not facing a huge disapointment).

Dust is a new exclusive MMOFPS. On top of already known exclusives. And that's it I suppose.
thanks.
that's actually quite disappointing. uncharted is a no brainer but there are not many exclusives I like. In fact it's just this and maybe starhawk.
e3 this year sucks bigtime.

Pretty boring conference. Uncharted looked good, but none of the other games excited me. The PSVita was hugely disappointing, just the same old franchises with barely distinguishable upgrades. Uncharted looks alright, but the optional touch controls they came up with were atrocious, nobody will use them as you still have to use the sticks and buttons in conjunction with them, people will just play the whole game normally.

Move games all looked really bad. They just don't seem to know what they are doing with motion controls.

It sucks every year. Biggest disappointment of the show for me though is Mass Effect 3. Shame.

As much as I think that the Sony conf was infinitely better than the MS conf I do agree with you. It's been a sad state of remakes/ports from handhelds to stationary/ports from stationary to handheld/sequel iteration up the ass/0 new interesting IPs.

It pains me but I don't think Nintendo will be much different, the nightmare scenario would be 95% focus on wii and 3ds and in the last 5 seconds of the show they just say something about the Cafe.

Please Reggie let me be wrong, please let me be wrong.

Hey guys, is there anywhere the whole conference can be downloaded that's not flv format?

Thanks to whomever posted the flv format above but I'm hoping for something that plays on the PS3.

I wouldn't expect more than 20% of the conference to be devoted to the Wii. They're obviously going to talk about and show some new stuff because their new console is still a year away, but the 3DS and their new console will likely be their focus. It's also worth remembering that Nintendo's conference is only an hour long. So they've got to be pretty rapid fire about things unlike Sony and MS. Which means that there shouldn't be any downtime like in those confrences.

SCEA usually puts it up on the PSN store to download. Don't know when, but if you don't need it right away that's the best option.
