E3 2013 will be the most exciting E3 for a long time

It goes in cycles. We are up to a new generation towards the end of next year so E3 will be much more interesting than last year.

I think I'm gonna have to bring the People's Elbow down on you.

Bring it.

MS and Sony's new consoles will be interesting to some, not so interesting to others. Few games will be shown and we'll all freak out over glorious CGI like we did at the beginning of last generation. There will be a lot of stupid arguments over which console will be best that nobody's opinion will be changed from. Nintendo will bullshit their way through E3 again while saving everything awesome for a Nintendo Direct.

If announced at E3 2013 , don't expect the consoles till the end of 2014.

The debate about how more powerful they are over wiiU will be ongoing forever , just like SNES vs Mega Drive, Playstation vs N64 etc

Nonsense. The Xbox 360 was shown to the public in May 2005 and they launched in November 2005. It will be the same with the PS4 and Xbox 3.

we'll have to wait and see

Ps3 and Wii were announced may 2005 and launched November 2006

Wii U was announced May 2011 and launches November 2012

They will be shown before E3, but the full blowout won't happen until E3. Sony will likely have an event early next year as well as MS where they show the console, prelim name, games in development, and promise more at E3.

I don't understand why E3 gets so much hate despite its "quality". I'm actually glad that it's still kicking and running. As gamers, we don't have that many shows/events to enjoy and it's nice to have one where we get to see new stuff every year.

I for one enjoy it for what it is and there's always some cool stuff among the shit. I don't get extremely excited about it, but I do like watching it.

Actually from what I recall, there are many gamer-centric events like PAX and such.

It's because E3 is becoming less and less relevant to gamers even though it is still billed as THE event for gamers. Now it's mostly about what's on the show floor because the conferences are all about who can suck the casuals off the hardest.

E3 has always and will always be an event for investors and news outlets. Hell they don't even have an open floor anymore. I don't think Nintendo, Sony, or MS ever went to E3 with their intetention being to please the few people watching on their laptops or tvs live. The only ones who have hyped this up for people like us has been news websites and media like Spike.

Microsoft will deliver.

With their first party offerings the way they are now, I fear for what kind of launch lineup they could theoretically produce. There won't be a Halo. I doubt a Gears will release with one coming the same year (even though Epic isn't making it). I guess we'll see what Lionhead has to offer.

E3 speculation thread in October?

Slow your roll braj, we should be talking about how awesome this holiday season is going to be. If looking forward to anything it should be first quarter 2013 at the most.

There's still enough stuff in it for us to enjoy. Like gaming, E3 goes through the same shifts, but it's still healthy fun to watch the announcements and game reveals. I rather have it than not.

Every time there is new console generation, the greatest E3 for quite some time is expected.

Can't wait until the first glimpses are shown, hopefully we'll be blown away.

I just can't believe its that time already.

My wallet is ready.

It's going to be pretty damn eventful. Sony & Microsoft going all-out to one-up each other's console announcements, third parties finally able to reveal the big projects that they've been saving for the next-gen, Nintendo hitting its stride on the Wii U (New 3D Mario and Smash Bros sound pretty likely), and fuck it, Valve might just announce Half-Life 3 so the entire internet can fall to its knees in orgasmic ecstasy.

I know its quite early to talk about E3, but I am excited for this one like no other E3. The announcement of Microsoft and Sonys next consoles are long overdue. This is probably the longest console generation ever. Seeing the next consoles unveiled will cause crazy meltdowns on GAF. Not only just the hardware but software and how the OS and the online are for both new consoles. And of course the launch games for both consoles. I am sure Nintendo will have some great software to show to counter the new console announcements.

Well it might be the best when watching at home, but since they are demolishing half the conv center in 2013, its going to suck having to get around down there. Then to have half of it at the conv and the rest at venues around town is going to make it doubly sucky.

I just can't wait for GTA V, and the massive plethora of news that will be out in a little more than a week. V will definitely keep me busy until the mega hype of E3 2013.

and I don't wanna hear anyone say "if" the consoles don't get announced. they better get announced. It's been so damn long.

For Nintendo, 2012 taught me that their Nintendo Directs are far more exciting and informative than E3.

E3: Mostly games we already knew for Wii U and 3DS, followed by a dismal Wii U Nintendoland finale that put everyone off the game.
Nintendo Direct two weeks later: 3DS XL unveiled.

I think that's more a statement on how effective E3 is seen by game companies now. Everyone this year used it for regular stuff. The says of them going all out of r gamers is over.
