E3 2014 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 [ it's over :( ]

Incredible job by the Treehouse with this stream. I hope they continue this for future E3s. This is the first E3 where I really didn't watch the rest of the coverage and just focused on the Treehouse stream.

The Treehouse coverage this year has made me completely neglect all other companies present at E3. The last 3 days have been filled by Nintendo.
It's odd, I feel like I am a very rounded gamer and I own every system and play almost every genre. There are a lot of games I am excited for. But I feel like I am more familiar with every game Nintendo showed because of the Treehouse stuff.

And I figured, you know, general-gaming places probably feel the same way I do. Yesterday, I checked Polygon's Big At E3 section and there was nothing on a Nintendo system there. Today there's two things.

I'm way more excited about Bayonetta 2 than anything on that list, I think Splatoon will be more fun than Rainbow Six: Siege, but I don't think the rest of the industry really agrees with me. I wonder if my tastes are becoming more niche.

I love everyone at Treehouse. They brought the same magic that they put into their games and applied it to a trade show. This is how E3 should be done. It was really something special.

My favorite moment was Tezuka playing Mario Maker.

I'm sad it's over. Treehouse made this E3 the most welcoming experience I have ever had, and I've been paying attention since the very beginning.

Back in the day, after E3 was over, before the internet seriously took off, some company would splice all the good stuff from the event, (video + interviews etc) and sell it on a VHS tape, and for many years I would purchase said tape. I would endlessly watch the footage and let my imagination run wild. It was the only way to really get involved in such a manner that made it so I was there.

The presentation, that in-dept inside look, the entire Treehouse production was top notch and recaptured a lot of that feel. Nintendo, continue with this format. No looking back. It rocked.

Game of the show? Xenoblade Chronicles X. The Treehouse demo gave me that grandiose feeling that in the near future, I will stand in those huge, enormous areas and will be able to explore them to death. X was my favorite before, but they brought the extra confidence. I'm happy now.

In fairness I think the only game they were demoing was Minecraft, which probably doesn't turn a lot of game journalists on at this point.

I felt the same way. That demo was incredible!

Yup, Treehouse was absolutely fantastic. Spent three days with almost non-stop Nintendo streaming whenever it was on, even though relatively few of the games were of particular interest to me. The hosts were great, very natural and charming with great enthusiasm for the games they were showing off. Outstanding format which I really, really hope is repeated next year. A Legend Of Zelda treehouse would be glorious.

As a matter of fact, for me one of the best parts about these segments was how these people seemed to honestly really love the games. Almost every segment had a slightly delayed microphone cutoff, and even off-mic they were incredibly happy and expressed that they had a lot of fun with the games, and enjoyed talking with the game creators.

Sad to see it end. This E3 was much more enjoyable than last year's, even with all the excitement surrounding the new hardware.

Hopefully next year Sony and Microsoft will follow Nintendo's lead with their own day-long streams. I really think this should be the future of E3.

My friend said he saw me on the Treehouse stream when they were interviewing Miyamoto on Tuesday. I was waiting in line for Smash Bros.

Miyamoto looks older in person than he does in videos ;_;

Big parts of the media have always had sort of a 2cool4school attitude towards Nintendo. As long as the userbase is happy and excited, though, like they've been the past few days, I'm not at all worried.

Yep, joking aside, I completely agree.

Great job treehouse team! Best thing about it was the treehouse employees who presented well, managed to stay enthusiastic on camera for dozens of hours, were entertaining, had great chemistry, had fun and seemed passionate about the games being shown. The game demo's were in depth, played by people who know how to play and there was barely any waiting between games.

no, they had a bunch of different games there. i recall there being hyperlight drifter (i think that's the name), disgaea 4, and danganronpa 2. you can sorta see the different logos there.

i took this picture yesterday:

im surprised how well many of these people translated to video... they warned in the start about being the people who are usually off stage, yet hosted and communicated very well...

they deserve more screen time from nintendo to represent their games, they communicate them in a genuine way that makes you enjoy watching even if you aren't interested in the title.

One thing I wanted to point out was how well the translations were on the stream. Every translator were just very smooth on translating the developers of their games.

I think Splatoon will be more fun than Rainbow Six: Siege, but I don't think the rest of the industry really agrees with me.

This goes without saying and it's much easier to get excited about a game that you've gotten to see real people sit down with and actually play as opposed to a scripted segment at the end of an Ubisoft conference where everything just felt super vapid.
