E3 2014 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 [ it's over :( ]

You can have those cynical fucks.

We'll have fun with Treehouse.

That's fine. I don't begrudge you your walled off infomercial land. Have at it. I was responding to the idea that this is the "Future" of E3 or worse other people's comments that they like the idea of journalists being locked out.

I want videos and impressions from real people who don't have a vested interest in saying everything is awesome all the time. It completely defeats the point of impressions.

No. I'm watching the Splatoon coverage now and this is some hard sell bullshit.

"3 minute intense matches!"

"This game uses all of your skills and abilities!"

"I'm loving the squid motif."

"It just feels so good!"

"I love these levels. It's so stylish! . . . There's stickers everywhere! They are wearing headphones and sneakers!"

People complain about game media being shills, this shit is the shilliest of shill stuff. Ugh.

I'll stick with Giant Bomb please. If companies start shutting out journalists from doing video coverage and force use to watch hardsell bullshit to get a look at their game I may stop being interested in even checking these games out.
I had the volume off and those quotes are my thoughts lol.

Yes. Yes it is absolutely one hundred percent impossible that they think that every aspect of all these games are this amazingly awesome.

lol

Of course it is, it's being broadcast by Nintendo themselves, what were you expecting?

It's still more interesting and shows more of the game than regular E3 coverage, we are actually seeing how the game plays, you decide if you like or not what you see. Press will only be necessary to make sure the controls feel fine, and I'm ok with that.

Better get some sleep as I am working first thing tomorrow. Zelda U better not show up while I am away.

Does the Tree House start at the same time tomorrow?

All of these ink effects were made possible by the work done on Sunshine HD, releasing immediately after they announce it. (whenever GCN adaptor comes out, I hope!)

Unless you are bipolar, there is a a lot of middle ground between hating everything and loving everything to death.

your argument is that we can't make up our own fucking mind? like we are mindless drones that will eat whatever they say? we are smart enough to know what is going on.

like you said yourself, tune into Giantbomb and see what they think of the games.

Who are you talking about?
No one is trying to hide that this are Nintendo people, specially since E3 is a trade show.

Besides, Giant Bomb having a genuine like for this or any other kind of game sounds like a really neat fantasy.

Look, I like the idea of seeing more hands on coverage. But the idea that the guys providing it should be company shills hard selling the product is the part I don't like. I would much prefer lots of hands on footage from games media people.

And it really is possible that the future of game coverage is locking out the media and every big company just hiring their own fake media people to talk about how awesome their stuff is. I can't believe that is a future some people want.

Mute it then. Make your own impressions. You don't need to be told what to think if you can see it for yourself.

I see what you're saying, but since I would be reacting the exact same way to what I'm seeing it feels and sounds perfectly natural to me. I'm obviously aware of the fact that they have to be positive and try and sell the game, but they are striking a good balance imo.

There's still a role for media in previewing and reviewing games, but as a Nintendo fan they never served me well with Nintendo coverage. I won't miss them.

Man, this Nintendo Treehouse presentations are genius. It's like if today, the entire E3 was just about Nintendo stuff and not just 1 or 2 hours like a Press Conference and done. Also, everytime they show a game demo, that game becomes trending topic on Twitter so that helps tremendously as well.
