E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

I personally can't decide if I'm #TeamShow or #TeamNoShow for TLG, but Sony is definitely aiming for major scope this year. It can't be for no reason.

I'm excited about lots of stuff this year, with so many delays 2015 is announcements year, as 2016 is (for now xD) big releases year.

As long as I can look at it and say "Yep, that's a Team Ico game and yep, that's The Last Guardian.", then I'll be thrilled. Even it looks different, as long as it looks good.

It would be amazing if Activision through a partnership, released a new real Spyro game, but that dream wont happen. Their reveals will likely just be Skylanders, cod, Blizzard game related, Tony hawk and some other game.

Does Konami have an e3 this year???

I wonder if this deal was made in advance of the 2013 E3 reveal. It's amazing how poorly this turned out for both CD and Square. On one had they have the original Xbox release being overshadowed by the bevy of releases in the holidays (Halo 5, Battlefront, Call of Duty, FIFA, etc.). Afterwards, the PS4 release will be competing with Uncharted 4. It really doesn't bode well for either version. If Square is smart, they'll delay the game until Spring, and release the PS4 version next Winter.

I predict it won't even place in that month's NPD. MS fans will then claim it was the bundles that made that happen.

it's crazy because with just that, Sony can win E3. Whatever happens at Microsoft or Nintendo or whatever, if Sony drop TLG, they win.

I would not say its a win. It would give some brownie points for Sony for sure, but for Sony to make more heat with it if they added a for sure release date THEN it would be bigger than just a re-release of a trailer

I'll be down if Sony gives us the Uncharted Remastered trilogy.

Of course after God of War 3 I'm expecting uncharted 3 remastered and a PS Now rental for UC1 and UC2...

I think TLG is too drawn out to have much of an effect now that I think about it. There will probably be more excitement for another dormant game, like a new Syphon Filter, Spyro, Jak, Parappa, Jet Moto, wipeout, or Socom. Well, maybe not socom.

while I some what agree with your opinion, if and IF the screen fades to black and the last guardian text is shown with a trailer, I think the audience and the majority of people will lose their damn minds. I just hope it is the same game that was show years ago.

Hoping for a syphon filter as well one day

What are people expecting out of TLG anyway? It's gonna be a clunky mediocre platformer with some forced feels on top just like Ico/Sotc. I can't remember a single game that was developed for a long time and ended up being great.

Socom has a chance to return.
Everything about Socom 4 is totally negated by the fact that the PSN went down(for almost an entire month) the week it released.

Prior to that Socom Confrontation was the most played 1st party game on PSN... over Resistance, Killzone 2 etc.

Not allowing myself to get hyped for Syphon Filter again, hyped it ever year since the PS3 was announced but last year was it...
the series with the worst cliff-hanger of all time shall end there.
The dream is dead.

Maybe on this website, but a new wipe out, spyro, jak, or other used to be popular franchise will pro ably have more general impact, especially to general consumers. I mean the media will help a little with that of course.

If Hololens is there I wonder if MS will announce some games for it and Windows 10.

So far the current MS PC games push has been a bunch of free 2 play trash and this will be the last time before Windows 10 launches to try and look like they give a damn. Kind of make a break for this "We will totally support PC games" cycle for them before we can add it to the pile of broken promises.

I think it would serve Sony to hold off on TLG until they bring back a big platformer, like pandemonium, or Spyro. I mean think of TLG costs at this point.

They will definently want to make that back.

Chances are they won't be able to break even unless it sells like 10 million copies, which I don't see a niche japanese game doing in today's market.

I really wonder how much sway a TLG reveal would have outside of the inner GAF circle. Does the less-hardcore audience (who do actually watch these conferences) care about a game in that style? Does it steal headlines from more established third party names making announcements?

It'd be a big announcement, but the name really doesn't hold sway outside the hardcore crowd. Does that maintain a trending spot on Twitter, the way a God of War 4, Fallout 4, or Half-Life 3 would?

Sony not mentioning TLG at E3 last year, right after the whole "IGN Russia" scandal is as good as a confirmation of cancellation in my book.

Sony would have to spend ms like money on advertising, probably bundle, and push it hard to even get to 5 let alone 10. Then they would have to make that back as well.

If the redeveloped it with lower budget and easy to get profits the game probably wont be good.

I'll take F2P trash over Hololens games any day.

You are saying that Ico and SoC are mediocre games? :(

So according to what those in the know have been saying, how likely is tlg to show up this year? I remember verendus saying it would probably be released by 2016. Also, how does planning an e3 announcement work? Is it possible to bring out an announcement based on what a competitor did earlier in the day? How likely is it to happen?

tell me more about how much Sony spend & how many devs were working on this game.

Sony Japan had a horrible organisation with many small teams working on over 30 Projects at the same time...therefore they barely made progess. (just read that kotaku interview with allan becker - new ceo of Sony Japan)

people say the same about Final fantasy Versus, while ignoring that the real development started years later

And 10 Million copies?? Besides Gran Turismo (and maybe TLOU) there is not a single Sony Exclusive that sold this many copies

There's always a new game that steals the show at these things. (Watch Dogs, The Division, No Man's Sky, Splatoon )

My money's on Horizon. Guerrilla knows how to debut a game.

No legit word either way.

Personally I say don't count on it, but it's a safe bet we'll hear about it by E3 2016.

They might win on GAF, but most people will care more about Halo.

I fee like if the groundswell for something like TLG can be the same as the praise Sony got from not having the PS4 be forced to connect online, then it will be huge. If not, then it might not even be in the top five for the NPD the second month of it being released.

The only indication we have right now, but it appeared on official PlayStation channels as they introduced YouTube App & Upload.

However, I am confident the U4 delay has to do with a delay of the collection. If they just needed more time to truly finish U4, they wouldn't have put the "2015" at the end of their gameplay reveal. To announce an delay just three months later does not make any sense to me.

Can you do Share with PS Now games? If so, that might just be Uncharted 3 on PS Now.

I still think thatgamecompany are overdue an announcement, it's been 3 years since journey.

The question is will it be at sony or Microsoft now that their contract has run out (and it would be a bit of a coup for the latter)

I wouldn't say it's an automatic win but it'll be a big thing for sure. A conference winner shouldn't be determined just by one game.

It's almost as if 'winning' E3 is a fan thing more than anything else. Some people will go ape if TLG is properly revealed, some others will not. C'est la vie.

Do I care who 'wins'? No, as long as lots of good games are announced. The amount of competitive nonsense that gets trumpeted is incredibly banal and boring.

Games 'put on hold/slowed to a development crawl to prioritise other games' don't cost the same as games diligently developed for 5+ years straight by a full-sized team like Bioshock Infinite.

That's the benefit of a single studio that is working on multiple games at once.

Man it's been like that. I know people who put down $400-500 for a console day one just to say they were part of the hype. They invested hundreds of dollars in games just to sell it 9 months later. They played it once! One time. Matter of fact they still have Bloodborne and Shadow of Mordor wrapped in plastic bought them just because the Internet said so.

I think it would likely be announced at Sony's conference just due to them working together previously, but I think it could possibly be multi-platform.

I don't know anyone like that, and I am of course, happy to see fans delighted at game announcements that they like.

What I dislike is the apparent concurrent need to slag off the other 'side', declare 'winners' of a bunch of bloody press conferences, and act as though the world's going to end/begin anew because some devs decided to do x.

I realise I am being an idiot expecting anything else, but still.

P.S. FWIW, why anyone wants Spyro back, god knows ;)

Dang. Maybe you could sell your friend's wool for some serious money.

There are developers working on Hololens stuff. All the incubation teams like LxP FUNction, etc were all revealed to be Hololens developers.

Granted, so far, all of them look to be small-ish incubation teams, so there's no expectation that they'll reveal some AAA Hololens games or anything, but they're probably the equivalent to Sony's London Studio atm, where they're the first-party equivalent of 'we're experimenting on how to make legit games with this."
