I don't care about Devil's Third. Or Splatoon. Or Mario Maker. That's not the point I'm making. I'm talking about their presentation style, the combination of the digital event and the live streams, which people really, really liked.

Look no further than any GAF thread from E3 last year.

Yeah, their presentation style was different and I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure I would say it redefined E3, but it was such a great change of pace from all of the other pressers.

I'm not a Nintendo fan so I didn't watch much of it, but other than the stuff like the Smash tournament, which was legit, I didn't see what was special about what Nintendo did as compared to everyone else streaming stuff.

Nintendo Treehouse was amazing and was a game changing. Never seen anything quite like it at any E3 ever besides last year.

Okay, buddy.

Yeah and them redefining e3 is a laughable statement regardless.

If Nintendo truly "redefined" E3, then why are they still the only ones doing their pre-recorded conferences?

Are you for real? You must live on an alternate reality or something.

Okay. Jesus Christ.

Sorry for my choice of words. I edited my post. You can calm the fuck down now.

Nintendo did something unique that other people haven't done before, which people enjoyed watching. They took typical E3 conventions and circumvented them for their benefit. That's what I mean by redefined. Not that E3 will never be the same because Nintendo reigns supreme Gods over the industry now. I don't know why people were quick to inflate my phrasing to the most possible extreme. I'll stick to yes or no binaries forever now.

I guess I'm living in an alternate timeline where this thread happened.

Sony is normally around 100-110 minutes long.

They go a little longer then 90 minutes but they never go a full 2 hours since they always start late.

THIS
They never had a 2 hour long conference in the past year...atleast since 2007

2014 - 1:46:00
2013 - 1:48:00
2012 - 1:25:00
2011 - 1:50:00
2010 - 1:47:00
2009 - 1:52:10
2008 - 1:29:30
2007 - 1:34:39

I don't care how long the conference is....More important is a good balancing (less media talk than last year, maybe less third party stuff if possible, not to much morpheus)

I think you misinterpreted my post, man. I wasn't trying to jump on you; I agreed with what you were saying, I just didn't know if "redefined" was the appropriate word.

I apologize, then. I lost my cool on the Internet. I made a comment that triggered a lot of bizarre hostility and I guess everybody looked like an enemy.

I hope the Oculus conference was a demonstration to Sony that you can't sell VR over a streaming presser. Those who liked it are already converted because they have actually used some type of VR, but demonstrating presence, or talking about presence, is useless to someone watching on a computer screen at home.

Also, since these games have to run at incredible framerates, you can't count on games that look like Uncharted 4 or The Order to be displayed so there's no graphical wow factor for the common person there either. I just imagine it as flat as when Sony showed off 3D in one of their E3 shows and people had to put on glasses - those segments were awful too.

I really hope they don'y spend more than 15 minutes talking about it and just mention games that are coming to Morpheus as well in future announcements. The only way they will sell this to the public is going to be through roadshows and such where people can actually use it.

I'd say that Nintendo's stream last year was more fun for me to watch than the other conferences, though I didn't necessarily come out of it more excited than some others.

I expect it will be the same this year from Nintendo: fun to watch, but not enough games to be excited about.

Yeah I hope I am wrong but I think the suits at sony are hell bent on pushing Morpheus hard at E3.

I believe in Agent. Cover me Rockstar.

I liked the Treehouse component, in theory but not necessarily in execution. Given that it's E3, most people aren't going to like every single game that is announced. So the Treehouse stream for me was only on during very specific segments and was off the rest of the time. Which means, really, that it was no different then a gameplay demo by IGN or Gamespot or whoever else that's uploaded to Youtube that I then consume.

So what content will you guys be watching live over the few days? Barring the press conferences, lots of media sites have streams and you can bet some publishers will too. Nintendo also has their stuff.

I usually just stick to the Sony live streams, doubt anything will change this year.

I'll watch every. Apart from that, I'll will be on twitter and see who's streaming what.

IGN is going to premier more stuff but I really like Geoff, I might try to watch both at the same time and take a 1/2 day Monday.

Yes, they did something nice people liked. Sony's choice to air this thing in theatres was a nice addition too. Not exactly the same thing, but I think I really like the way these guys are competing for unique ways to consume this stuff.

Will probably watch Bethesda's off and on while I do random chores and so on.

Microsoft I will play live in my office and listen/half watch as I work.

Sony will watch live if I remember...

Will watch Bethesda live on Sunday. Then I'll probably watch the Microsoft one since it lines up well with my lunch hour. I'll end up just listening to the rest until Sony's when I'll be attending one of the local theatre events.

I think we will see Oculus at the MS presser. If the device is compatible across PC and Xbox One it would be a great incentive.

I think this will be a pretty great E3 show just because of the fact that there don't seem to be many leaks going around. I remember all those from ntkrnl last year, and that sort of ruined some things. Surprisingly, companies seem to be getting their shit together this year. :P

To chime in on the Treehouse discussion - Last years Nintendo Digital Event was great because of it, but it was in no way a game changer. It was no different to what outlets like GT, IGN and Gamespot do every year except this time it was hosted by Nintendo and their employees.

It was a really good way to get a look at the games they announced, and incredibly fun to watch, but lets not act like it was revolutionary or anything. That said I hope they do it again this year, since I tend to find the media coverage of E3 tapers off after the second day is a bit boring to watch.

What does that mean?

quote for P5 said:

"Unfortunately, the publisher (Atlus) has only given hints that they'll be showing a Persona-RPG at this year's E3. But chances are good that it will be the 5th release in the series"

Doesn't sound like the person who wrote this knows for sure if P5 will be shown at E3.

After Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (! For PS Plus members, incidentally, just available free) one is a Metal Gear fan already correctly tuned to the next main event, the The Phantom Pain represents. As already some nice screenshots have surfaced about the title, one can assume that we will see in action alongside a few cinematic cutscenes and the Big Boss. And as we know Series father Hideo Kojima, surely thereby dips on one or the other mysterious new character.

Ubisoft Quebec
Assassin's Creed Syndicate

Assassin's Creed Syndicate

One of the most interesting titles of E3 will probably be the upcoming Assassin's Creed, it finally freed the series from a long carried the stigma because in Syndicate, the brother and sister Evie and Jacob Frye share the role of the lead role. Evie however is not just a pretty accessory, but the first full-fledged protagonist in a major part of the AC series. Players should be able to decide in many missions with which the brothers and sisters they sneak through the shadows and the general representation of women in London at the time of the Industrial Revolution could Ubisoft bring many advantages.

Massive Entertainment with
Tom Clancy's The Division

Apart from a few screenshots and tech demos itself and Ubisoft Massive keep a low profile for the team-based shooter The Division. Much to the displeasure of many fans whose interest has not diminished since the first announcement of the title. But what takes long, is known to be good and we are excited about what present ourselves Massive Entertainment at this year's E3. Maybe we'll even have the benefit of a live match. Would be cool, right?

Bethesda Softworks with
Fallout 4

Fallout 4 Art

The joy among the fans was great as Bethesda has provided a Fallout-teaser in the airwaves and even bigger than the official announcement shortly followed. Still, the developers keep covered, however, with regard to more information on the upcoming Fallout titles. So it is really good that the team from Rockville, Maryland to pack their game and will hopefully show us this great stuff at E3. We hope yes on a nice presentation with the Pip-Boy. 😉

Atlus with
Persona 5

Persona 5

At the latest after the global success of Persona 4: The Golden on the PS Vita, it was only a matter of time before making Atlus to the continuation of the series. Unfortunately the publisher has only hinted at, to show at this year's E3, a Persona RPG, but the chances are good that this is the 5th installment of the series. And let's face it: When a student day, at night demon-fighting master thief - a win-win for Atlus.

Hello Games with
No Man's Sky

No Man's Sky

Interplanetary Discover on countless worlds, exciting space battles and upgradeable ships and weapons - No Man's Sky could be not only because of the artful graphics to surprise hit for sci-fi fans. Although not quite as extensive, many fans of the former elite should recognize in the title and especially the gradually expanding universe should ensure the discoverer natures have a lot to do so.

Sony PlayStation with
Project Morpheus

Project Morpheus

Having recently at GDC ambitious VR glasses was presented in its second development version, it will be interesting, what progress has been made in the meantime. Exciting it is also about the fact that even some of Sony Studios are working on titles that revolve around the Morpheus headset. And if last year's statements of SCE Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida CEO true, expect some really cool announcements, both of Third Party and First Party studio, at this year's E3!

Funny how they say the biggest game fair when Germany's own Gamescom is actually bigger (when considering attendance numbers).

Not sure if the German language uses 'big' to refer to things by their importance or stature.

You do know some PlayStation fan runs that account, right? There is no official PlayStation Germany account. The official account is @PlayStationEU.

Edit: I should read better... I saw the PlayStation Germany bit and immediately thought it was referring to this fake PlayStation German account: https://twitter.com/PS4Germany. I've seen so many people treat it as a real account.
