This was at least BARLEY acceptable for Madden, because while I liked NFL 2K5 more, Madden was at least the real deal... and it looked to be even better this time.

The NHL series have sucked since... well, NHL 99 was maybe the last good one. Now it is pure arcade. Sorry EA, I already have a game that does that one better.

It seems like publishers are trying to avoid direct competition at all costs for next-gen. Between the number of buy outs, mergers, and deals likes this, it seems like people are going to have less choice between games in particular categories. Doesn't help that they want to hike the price on all of these games too.

Take 2's game is so far ahead of EA's in terms of quality and gameplay that it's a fucking joke. Why give the license to the company that was outsold by the other last year? If it's true (WHICH IT IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT NO NO NO NO NO NO) then Take 2's NHL 2K6 is the last hockey sim I purchase. I'll pick up NHL Hitz for the crash 'n bash arcade play, but an exclusive license will never, ever force me to buy EA's liquid shit in a box.

Now I'm just gonna sit here in this corner and whet this knife while I wait for confirmation either way.
