The US government has bought a 10% stake in Intel

Last time I checked, the Chips Act (much of which went to Intel) was signed by a Democrat. But making sure Intel doesn't collapse is a US Nat. Security issue, not a partisan one.
I don't think the CHIPS Act required any shares to be held by the US Gov in order to receive funding tho.

Socialism

Edit: I'm actually just talking shit, I have no idea if the government owning shares in industry is a socialist mechanism.

Edit edit: AI tells me that while it is not "wholly socialists" it is a mechanism used in socialist societies so the state can influence industry.

Edit edit edit: this doesn't mean that the purchase of these shares is in effort to influence the semiconductor industry

Edit edit edit edit 😆: it also doesn't mean that this isn't the reason

They recently released two generations of intel chips that would literally burn out the more you used them. Becoming slower over time.

And they knew, and still released a second generation with the issue.

I don't care what they do, I'm not buying another intel system.

Will this even be helpful? Intel has been circling the drain for a long time now and I doubt any amount of money will help them catch up to AMD.

But at the end of the day I don't really care I have been using AMD CPUs for years now and that won't change anymore.

I don't really know how this stuff works but I can say that the 2008 bailouts somehow seemed like a slap in the face. Maybe it really does make sense to do. idk. It might be just free association that does it - Hey, bail me out next. Too small to succeed?

Very strange. But I would prefer Intel not to go under so good.
It's nothing strange, it's just the Fat Man's cynicism...

It turns out the fat guy started saying that cryptocurrencies were useless, so he started manipulating the market, making two billion dollars.

What he does is buy stocks, then influence those stocks to displace the rest of the companies, something so vulgar and degrading. And he doesn't care if they criticize him.

What he did is buy $100 million in corporate and local government bonds, while signing executive orders from the White House affecting the value of those same bonds he bought... So he buys $100 bonds, and the next day they're worth $10,000.

I don't understand how the people of this country tolerate this swindler.

That's what he did with Intel, and he's already bought PepsiCo and Sony bonds.

Then don't cry if he starts converting private debts into public debt...

It's simple.

A example

Putting tariffs on PepsiCo to ruin companies. For example, he puts a tariff on PepsiCo, the company suffers, so he buys the shares cheaply when the company is suffering...

Then he gives them an exemption and the price shoots up...

The price shoots up, so he sells the shares he bought at a high price... Who wins then? The people of us? Hell, no.

The fat guy wins? ... Yes!!!

No wonder PS5 went up in price... Because he bought the bonds and committed this fraud.

Didn't Obama buy GM and Chrysler?

I personally despise what Trump has done to start his term, but we need to be honest and genuine when it comes to criticism and US buying a stake in Intel isn't a bad thing. It's important to keep strategically relevant US companies afloat. This is one situation where the admin is doing its job.

Omg I hope that's not it lol. jfc. Sounds like something they'd do, tho. Fucking wild times.

NSA backdoor inside the chip is mandatory.
What if I told you that a single corporation was behind almost every global conflict in the past 15 years? What if I told you there are undocumented components in every Ryzen CPU that utilizes groundbreaking next generation neuro-acoustic emissions technology to influence ideologues to their will? How do you think an average man gets his brain tampered with to the point where he'll ignore any common sense and create a mundane tech finance thread in the middle of a gaming discussion? Why do you think AMD corporate colours are red? They're the devil, dude. This move is necessary to secure peace and stability for all mankind.

Pre-Order Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 today.

It's pretty obvious what he's doing.

I am for keeping intel alive. Damn CPUs are getting pricey. Well everything is. Still need that competition with AMD.

That's the confusing part. Intel qualified for those grants already anyways.
'Nice grants you've qualified for there. It would be a shame if they didn't get approved...'

I guess this way the taxpayer gets something in return for their money, instead of the nothing they were going to get before.

For the record, I support the U.S. Government doing this, but just like the last time the government bipartisanly bailed out corporations, you know some of that money was definitely gobbled up by corporate BS.

The last time I remember the US Government doing this was with GM in 08. When they sold their stake 5 years later, the government lost almost $11b.
Not familiar with the story, but the worst part of it is that knowing how this stuff usually goes, that probably wasn't even a miscalculation on their part.
Chances are someone deliberately threw government money into a pit to help some friend.

All of the money from this will be gobbled up by corporate BS. That's why companies offer stock in the first place, to raise capital that is used to fund and expand operations.

Nothing expands operations like c-suite bonuses. We will see when financials and salaries / reward packages are reported.

If tax funded dollars are going to keep companies afloat, there should be ironclad stipulations that c-suite bonuses can't be given out as long as the government holds ownership.

Too big to fail, even if severely mismanaged and forcing tax payers to fork the bill.
In these situations, there should be an investigation into how the company was mismanaged and make the CEOs accountable for their incompetence.

Of course... Doubling his fortune in six months while being corrupt.

He has no scruples, and I don't understand how his people put up with him.

Then don't cry if they leave you in ruins.
