REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2005-- Electronic Arts, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics announced today that SUPERMAN RETURNS: THE VIDEOGAME is scheduled for a summer 2006 release in conjunction with the release of Warner Bros. Pictures' film Superman Returns on June 30, 2006. The game, which features storylines from both the movie and more than 60 years of comic book content, is being developed by Electronic Arts-Tiburon in Orlando, Fla., the award-winning studio that develops Madden NFL, the most popular sports franchise in videogame history. SUPERMAN RETURNS: THE VIDEOGAME will be released on the Xbox 360(TM) from Microsoft, as well as current generation platforms.

"We have assembled world class talent at EA Tiburon to deliver this blockbuster experience and we are thrilled to team up with Warner Bros. Only Superman can meet challenges of this scale."

Gerhard Florin, EA's Executive Vice President and General Manager for International Publishing continued, "Bringing Superman Returns to life in a game of this magnitude that mixes the comic lore with some movie elements delivers a powerful and emotional gaming experience to consumers. X05's worldwide stage is the perfect place to announce the return of this incredibly strong super hero to the interactive space."

"The powerful Superman Returns property will be rightfully brought to gamers with a strong creative vision supported by compelling new technology so they can experience The Man of Steel(TM)'s superpowers firsthand," said Jason Hall, Senior Vice President for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "We are excited to be working with the very talented people at EA and together we intend to give the game buying audience an opportunity to jump into the life of one of the most popular DC Comics super heroes of all time."

"EA is capturing the rich mythology of Superman and the visual excitement of our latest film to build a uniquely thrilling videogame for our fans," said Paul Levitz, DC's President & Publisher. "We are all working together to bring players as much of the Superman experience as possible."

Regretfully I don't believe anyone can make a true Superman game and make it good. =(

But for genetic reasons I remain tragically optimistic.

Catwoman, Batman begins, etc.

Catwoman was Argonaut anyway. Argonaut sucks.

Batman Begins was awesome.

Marvel Nemesis sucked for the bad reasons.

James Bond Everything or Nothing game rocked.

(current gen + 360)

Is it necessary to separate 360 from the current gen like that?

I kid, I kid... :D

Considering the track record though, there's obviously no reason to be excited here.

Wait that's not fair... Catwoman is complete ass while Batman Begins is just a game that's like Splinter Cell-lite... that doesn't make it a terrible game, it's just very basic and straightforward... can only interact with object A at point B....

I liked Blizzard's Death and Return of Superman (SNES) :D

I Like EA LOLOLOL...

Batman Begins WAS very good for a licensed third party game. You can't have much liberty when you're doing a movie-based game.

terrible combat, animation, interrogations were absolutely retarded. the game was pretty awful, id put it in there with catwoman in one of the worst movie games of this gen.

Huh, what about the presentation (and by that I mean being close to the events of the movie), the Batmobile levels, the fear system, the graphics AND sound?

When I first glanced at the topic title I thought it said "EA, WB, & DC denounce Superman Returns: The Videogame".

:lol

maybe in screenshots batman begins looks good, but in motion they made batman look like a retard. Fear system could have been cool but wasnt, if i wanted close events to the movie

ID WATCH THE MOVIE.

and im sorry just because the game borrows its racing engine from burnout doesnt make it a good. it just means im playing burnout with a batman skin inbetween really shitty action stages.

Well after EA's marvel game and their Catwoman game and their initial Xbox 360 games I'm real excited about this.

Superman -- EA -- Xbox 360, what could possibly go wrong?
