Next WB Games Montreal project is... a live‑service DC Comics game, job listing reveals

The best piece of advice I give to developers I work with is to NEVER, under any circumstances - no matter how bad - NEVER LEARN.

Don't let them tell you your business. Customers? Fuck 'em. Buncha pansies who don't know shit. TAKE A GIANT SHIT ON THEIR CHESTS AND ASK NO QUESTIONS.

Make your Live service game. Spend a billion billion dollars on it. Listen, there's no IP hotter than a cratering franchise. Just crank that shit out. Fuck the free world.

WB after this game flops

They killed Monolith likely the whole Nemesis System until the patent runs out (in 2036) and the Wonder Woman game for this shit?

How much money do these fucking companies have to keep attempting the same failed ideas over and over? Can't the shareholders step in at some point and say enough is enough?

The CEOs in these companies are completely out of touch with reality and their customer base.
If these companies want to save money, instead of replacing artists and programmers with AI, they should start by replacing the CEO.

A lot.

If there's one industry out there who somehow always seems to have endless cash it's tech and media. No budget is ever too high mantra, loosey goosey business strategies, and a knack for making the same mistakes 2 times, 3 times etc..... But this kind of industry is one based on fun, hype, and potential for global domination sales, so what happens is they got a way of always sourcing massive funding convincing the masses and investment companies there will be huge results in 5 years.

Shareholder power is often gimped, most investors dont bother voting people out, and BoD (board of directors) are often buddies with the CEO/President. So having them kick out their own buddy is going to be hard to do.

For small companies and family owned companies, shares can be concentrated so much across the execs who will vote to keep themselves employed, the only way to get them ousted is a truly independent board or investment company leaders trying to publicly humiliate them into leaving.

Exactly why I have zero sympathy for almost all of the studio closures and layoffs of the last several years. The industry needs a crash and reset at this point.

When it comes to all the bombs the past few years in gaming or TV/movies, they all made a huge mistake trying to catch onto the DEI/BLM/GAAS train from 2020 thinking their product launching years later would still be hugged and kissed for promoting politics, and cashing in on mtx thinking every game can be Fortnite.
Marvel Rivals did just fine
Just don't bundle DEI/BLM with GAAS. There are also a number of DEI/BLM failures in non-gaas world (SP games, movies, ads etc) so probably it is an issue
And good gaas game is as successfull as good SP games, we saw a number of examples last year

Can we stop calling these games AAA, that term was coined decades ago, stolen from credit rating scores, ie AAA credit rating, meaning low risk investment, big money, too big to fail. To lend legitimacy to gaming as "serious business". Now tho it's more synonymous with enormous financial black hole and liability that is very much "not a safe investment" and is likely to lose you hundreds of millions and possibly kill the entire business. Which is my prediction for whatever slop WB Montreal are making.

They never learn. Everyone wants to be Fortnite.
Funny thing is Fortnite probably wouldn't even be Fortnite if it came out today, at least to the same degree. These things are called 'lightning in a bottle' for a reason. Plus the very nature of these 'forever' games means only a few would ever really make it huge, these companies act like we all have both infinite time and money.

I don't think they're necessarily out of touch (although, as far as core gamers concerned, we can certainly say they are), they're just here for the sake of money. And only money. They side-eye Fortnite, GTA or CoD and tell themselves they want that and won't settle on something "lesser". A mainstream GaaS is what's printing money in spades right now. So, they're all flocking to that without second thoughts. No legacy IP being turned into a GaaS is off the table.

The top brass in these AAA behemoths have essentially become gambling addicts who'll keep pulling to strike the jackpot. They don't give a shit how much money they'll have to burn to get there as long as they break the bank eventually. People like these are symptoms of a larger unhealthy tendency within this industry. They're going to become a risk to their own companies if they don't diversify their output/projects.

Also because Fortnite is "forever" game majority the audience only playing that game and nothing else, they may play the new game for few weeks but then usually they just go back playing Fortnite.

These guys trying to compete against Fortnite which they have no chance of winning.

So, DC Rivals I guess? But once again from a studio that should have been making single player action games instead... In its prime at least, who knows now.
