I think that the execs aren't retarded enough to believe this will be successful. But the execs definitely think that the investors are.
A lot.How much money do these fucking companies have to keep attempting the same failed ideas over and over? Can't the shareholders step in at some point and say enough is enough?
Yes because real world works like video game…../sThe industry needs a crash and reset at this point.
Marvel Rivals did just fineWhen it comes to all the bombs the past few years in gaming or TV/movies, they all made a huge mistake trying to catch onto the DEI/BLM/GAAS train from 2020 thinking their product launching years later would still be hugged and kissed for promoting politics, and cashing in on mtx thinking every game can be Fortnite.
Funny thing is Fortnite probably wouldn't even be Fortnite if it came out today, at least to the same degree. These things are called 'lightning in a bottle' for a reason. Plus the very nature of these 'forever' games means only a few would ever really make it huge, these companies act like we all have both infinite time and money. They never learn. Everyone wants to be Fortnite.
I don't think they're necessarily out of touch (although, as far as core gamers concerned, we can certainly say they are), they're just here for the sake of money. And only money. They side-eye Fortnite, GTA or CoD and tell themselves they want that and won't settle on something "lesser". A mainstream GaaS is what's printing money in spades right now. So, they're all flocking to that without second thoughts. No legacy IP being turned into a GaaS is off the table. The CEOs in these companies are completely out of touch with reality and their customer base.
If these companies want to save money, instead of replacing artists and programmers with AI, they should start by replacing the CEO.
Also because Fortnite is "forever" game majority the audience only playing that game and nothing else, they may play the new game for few weeks but then usually they just go back playing Fortnite.Plus the very nature of these 'forever' games means only a few would ever really make it huge, these companies act like we all have both infinite time and money.
