PC games are sold 100% digital in most regions, which is why they don't show up in sales charts.
I play my PC on the comfy couch. People act like a PC can't connect to a TV or something.

So here is my position for those who care enough to read. I am pretty shocked about the 180 i have done in the last 6 months. Its all about Gamepass.
in 00's i was PC master race gamer. I played MMO's EQ, WOW etc..
I had a 360 but it RROD on me so i was pretty soured. I did get a PS3 but it was basically a media server and a for a few Final Fantasy games.
in 2015 i dropped MMO's and got really heaving into the current gen. Got my PS4 a year after it game and consumed pretty much everything.
Half the fun to me was gaming the sales, i would preorder 10-15 games on the $50 (cdn) a game E3 amazon/bestbuy sales then cancel if i did not like the game. I would trade in the game in 2 weeks to gamestop/eb for $50 credit. Use the credits on stuff i did not preorder. I was rolling with mad credit and loved my PS4 and played so many exclusives. felt like i was playing most games for free.
Upgraded to PRO when the first bundle came out. I played every major release and platted most of them.
My wife got me a XBOX X for my 40th birthday. (how great is she) i also ended up with the swtich when it came out (love that trade in credit)
GamePass has completely changed how i consume games. As you can tell i did not really keep many games (bought back my favs for sub $20 if i wanted to replay) so once i beat them i am ok to lose access to them as they cycle out of game pass. I will admit my favorite games have been exclusives from Sony, but the volume of FREE games from gamepass (fot the $1 deal) is just to great. I am playing stuff i never thought i would such as Gears 5. I went to buy Outer worlds on PS4 then of course saw i could play it for free.
If everything stays the same and unless Sony blows me out of the water with Launch day Exclusives, This time around i am planning on going Xbox to start. I do anticipate getting a ps5 for exclusives, if it is truly backwards compatible i will trade in the ps4 a lot quicker. E3 sales are almost gone, I fear Gamestop/eb is not long for this world as well.
Bottom line, Gamepass has changed how i play games and unless Sony can show me some unreal exclusives for 2021 i am leaning xbox.

Plus there is this ridiculous notion that being a PC gamer means paying top dollar to run games at 4K, 120fps, with max settings. As if it's some kind of requirement to be able to run Gears 5 like that before Microsoft will allow you to play Gears 5. Apparently you're not allowed to run it at 1080p, 30 to 60fps, and medium settings or less.

Ps5 only. I'm too deep into the Sony ecosystem to even bother with anything Microsoft. Besides that, I fuckin hate the xbox pad with a passion.

PS4 has a total installed base at least double the Bone, so I would say GAF is representative of gamers at least in this one metric.

As of right now, BOTH. Unlikely that this will change barring a massive fuck up by Sony or Microsoft between now and next November.
PlayStation 5 will be my primary console for exclusives, multi-platform titles and PSN titles while Xbox 4 will be my secondary console for exclusives only via Game Pass as I won't be buying a single game for Xbox 4 as not much reason to. Only way I play a multi-platform title on Xbox 4 over PlayStation 5 is if that game is on Game Pass day one but even then, it's 50/50 due to potential future DLC/expansions.

I wonder what the percentage of GAF users are from the U.S. vs. other countries. If the U.S. makes up less than 50% then I think it would not be representative. So if let's say 50% are from Europe, aren't they a much smaller market even in its entirety vs the United States? I'm no expert, just a bodybuilder/gamer hybrid broyo.

Would you really expect that the Xbox would win on other forums? In the end, the Xbox brand isn't that popular. The people hanging around forums are not the mainstream but maybe just 5% of the total customers in the end.
I see a lot of salty xbox fans around here, trying to turn the goalpost to hate on Sony again. Let's just forget that Microsoft is mostly playing catch-up on a lot of areas.

You know what'd be really arrogant? Assuming that Microsoft will magically outsell Sony in markets where it has never done so in the past.
Sony made so many mistakes and microsoft did so many good things, this hasn't anything to do with "magic".
just look at sony.. no xcloud, no gamepass, all the good exclusives are coming months BEFORE the launch! no new exclusive games at launch.. xbox series launches with halo, forza and hellblade 2! and you can get them all for $1 at launch via gamepass!
you can play ALL xbox one X, a LOT 360 and OG xbox games FOR FREE, if you bought them previously and you can get a lot of them for $1 at launch.
and the series x will probably even more powerful than the ps5...
sorry, but why would anyone buy a ps5 at launch? there are like no games at launch. no gamepass, no xcloud etc...

First of all, you don't know how powerful PS5 is going to be, or what the launch lineup will be. Assuming that it will definitely be worse is, again, rather arrogant of you.
As for all the other stuff... Halo and Forza have always been on Xbox, Game Pass is over 2 years old and Hellblade has been out for ages, yet none of that has caused Xbox consoles to fly off the shelves, has it? Why would that suddenly change next gen? I also don't see how being able to play your old 360 and OG Xbox games would cause people who have traditionally bought Sony to get an Xbox instead. I mean, they don't have any games for those systems to begin with.

well, if sony is more powerful they would shout it loud from every corner, and as you can see, xbox one x is much more powerful than the PS4 PRO - this is a fact. and AGAIN MS changed the whole team, everything, why do you think it will be the same as xbox one launch? it will not. the series X will be much more powerful - that's why they are going with a brand new console design.
and also, nextgen will be completely different! its not like current/lastgen! we have xcloud, we have compability from last to nextgen, we can even use the same controller etc.. and is what sony fails to see! They are still in their old bubble and they will fail pretty hard.. just look at nokia, what happened to them! no one would've thought this - but then the iphone came and destroyed them pretty hard.
same is going to happen nextgen, but we will see.
again, why dont you just wait then and get it when the good games releases? the console will be cheaper by then, and frankly the last exclusive games have been pretty shitty on the sony site.. just look at shenmue 3 or death stranding, pretty bad reviews.. if death stranding wouldnt been developed by kojima it would even get much worse reviews

Why would they? Consoles won't launch for another year, so Sony won't lose anything by waiting until the reveal in February. If anything, they'd be at an advantage because MS would have less time to react and make changes.
Doesn't seem to have had much of an effect on sales, though. PS4 still outsold it easily.
The only thing that's significantly different is the case, everything on the inside is basically more of the same, but faster. In terms of hardware, both Xbox one and PS4 were basically low power versions of existing PC parts, and that isn't going to change next gen.
I don't see how Xcloud would make anyone buy an Xbox, considering you don't even need one to use it. Since it's all streamed, you can just run it on a shitty laptop or whatever. Same as PS Now.
And like I said, backwards compatibility also won't mean shit to people who have never owned an Xbox, and PS5 is more or less guaranteed to offer it for PS4 as well, so I don't see how that would convince anyone to switch.
People like you always seem to forget that Sony still managed to outsell MS in the PS3/360 era, where their console launched a year late, was significantly harder to develop for, ran most games worse, and cost significantly more. They fucked up to an unbelievable degree and still came out ahead. They didn't make the same mistake with PS4, and they won't with PS5.
