Earth, Wind & Fire Maurice White Dead AT 74

Maurice White, one of the best black singers and frontmen of all time, hell, even just one of the best in general! Crazy that he had an active role with EW&F all the way up until 2005 before he started to take a step back for the bands last two albums. 19 albums in a row over the course of 35 years is outstanding. Probably the only man in the world I know of who can pull off a receeding afro as well!

RIP.
I can never stress enough how important EW&F was to me and the music I listen to. It opened me up to a whole plethora of musical genres and I will always be grateful.

Goodbye to one of the titans of the music industry. Half of the people I know were conceived while an EW&F song was playing.

Shit man, I just got done commenting on Dave Mirra and now I read this about one of my favorite groups? My dad got me into EW&F and he will be truly saddened by this. I'm gonna go listen to some hits.

RIP

Yeah, that's Ralph in the OP. He's still touring with Verdine (Maurice's Brother) and Philip Bailey. I took my father to see them two years ago for Father's Day, and I don't think I will EVER top that gift for him. We had so much fun.

One of my favorite groups of all time.

Here's a live performance of In The Stone from 1979, Maurice giving a hell of a performance. Can't find a better quality link though.

Knew something was up when I heard EW&F music being played on two different RNB stations today. Had the wife online, and sure enough...

RIP.

I have a concert DVD of theirs from a concert in the early 80's in Japan...I wish I could share the opening sequence...one of the coolest damn openings ever. Absolutely loved them...I'm completely heartbroken.

RIP to a legend. Incredible band with so many classics. Makes me sad I didn't go see them live when I had the chance because I didn't want to go alone :(

The amount of people that have sampled them is a testament to their skills and how timeless their melodies are.

2016 has been off to a terrible start...

Can't Let Go

Last year I bought the album I Am after growing up with EW&F's music. Can't Let Go became my favorite song of theirs.

Amazing legacy, rest easy. :(

Sad but the happiness his (and the group's) music brings will live on forever.

God dammit.

EWF were among the absolute champions of African-American music. This choked me up a little. Whatever the case... he absolutely left his mark on the world.

My kid was legit shook, and we always called his hair a "halfro" he will be missed...

Saw it on the news this morning and it made me stop in my tracks, I love EW&F, I don't follow them religiously - I didn't know he had Parkinsons, but I have all their albums up to the late 90s and was listening to Raise just the other week since I got the last reissue for Xmas.

Gutted. What a legend. :(

Earth, Wind & Fire had so many great songs that my favorite one will change quite often.

Listening to After The Love Has Gone at the moment.
