EA's awesome QA strikes again in Burnout REVENGE!

Nice burnout revenge bug. Once you get to 100%, every time you finish an event the credits roll. EA QA in Canada and the QA team in Florida should be ashamed of themselves for the number of bugs in this game.

Does this mean the QA at EA never finished the game they've been paid to test?

I don't understand why EA shouldn't just offer a replacement program so their customers can have a decent non buggy game.

I can tell you the QA department people probably caught the bug in question. Most games are tested for months on end, eight hours a day, five days a week (and sometimes six or seven during crunch times), and usually by two separate shifts per day. You can't help but complete the game in that amount of time.

Testers write bug reports that go to the production department. The production department prioritizes the bugs and fixes them. Sometimes, bugs are deemed unimportant and never addressed. Others are given such low priority that they're just simply ignored until it's entirely too late.

It's unfortunate the bug made it into gameplay. But the reality is that sometimes mistakes don't get corrected.

Try 14 hours, and yes, I bet this bug was found. I've found a few large bugs in games myself, with nothing being done about them due to time contraints. I'm sure bishop could say the same thing.

I guarantee you that someone wrote up this bug, submitted it and got this in return-

"Known, Shippable"

If it's not a show stopper, we're all good. That's the way QA works. It sucks, it's frustrating but at the end of the day it's not QA that makes the decision.

(( I used to do QA for both Atari and Namco. Never again X___X ))

Yeah, I was with EA personally. And the best part is, QA gets reamed when issues are discovered. I remember once getting an email about that, and replying with EACH BUG that was complained about showing that it was found, and marked shippable. Never got a reply though, and we still got in shit.

Are we sure this is a bug? I work in game development and I feel that the credits should roll after every 10 - 20 mintues of gameplay, with my name in particular blinking in yellow with marching ants around it. This bug wasn't KS, this was AD!

A.) Is the credits skipable?
B.) If not, GT2 was recalled beacuse it did not display 100%.

Don't blame QA unless you have proof that it was QA. QA probably reports tons of shit that gets ignored because it isn't "mission critical".

I wish I only had to work 8 hour days when I was doing QA. 14 hour days during crunch time would have been nice also.

What controller did you use?
My hands cramp up after playing for several hours in a row. I typically take frequent breaks to prevent fatique, like ever 15 mins i'll get up and walk around the house at least, and every hour do something else for a bit.

If it's anything like Burnout 3, few will touch it again once you've got to 100%, I know I didn't. Great game, one of my favs from last year, but i've never felt the need to ever play it again once it was finished.

lolz. Kinda similiar to RRV, I guess. Once you're done with the game, everytime you finish a 4-races circuit you are shown the credits screen.

I can tell you that EAC QA never worked on this game. We may have helped out a little with the online testing, but the primary testing was done at EAUK I beleive.

Yep, it was done at UK; but it is not a testing issue. If you work at EA, you should know that bugs regularly come up that are still left in the game due to time constraints, and as i said, EA don't delay games. Both revenge and legends have some pretty bad bugs in there.

QA doesn't work 14 hour days if they have multiple shifts. Our QA has day shift, night, and late night. 8 hours each with no overtime. Production testers do not have this benefit though. They can work anywhere from 8 to 24+ hour shifts. 24+ being very rare but does happen. 10 hour shifts are average for a PT.

I don't know how EA's QA works but I don't doubt that they have 3 shifts for QA as well.
