EBGames.com preorders... What's the consensus?

I've never preordered a game through EBGames' website, and I'm curious if I do, how close to the game's street date will I get it? The game in question is Nintendogs; I can't resist a lunch bag. :lol

So what's everyone's experience been? Do they arrive promptly?

just preorder in the store. if you order it online, you probably wont even get the bonus

also, some EBs are doing the trade any 3 GBA games, get Nintendogs for free deal. i say some EBs cause supposedly you need a coupon, but some stores are letting you do the trade in without any coupons

I keep hearing about the "coupon" but does anyone even know where the coupon even comes from :lol

The day before (8/21?), I think.

Call your store and ask the details on it. The place I called didnt mention the coupon, and when I got there he said that I needed one... but since he told me you didnt need it over the phone, he said that he'd override it and just give me the preorder.

Just wanted to chime in. In the past, I've ordered from EB Games and frequently received the pre-order bonus, even though usually my purchases AREN'T pre-orders and are often WEEKS and MONTHS after release. I've got a box full of silly ass art books, matted cels (SC2 Link, for example... bleah...), CD soundtrack discs, t-shirts, plushes, and all kinds of assorted crap.

I'm sure pre-ordering locally is the best way to guarantee... but man, their online site is a good way to end up with bonuses anyway.

Every EBgames.com preorders has shipped on its announced released date. Taken a few days to get to me, but that's because I choose the cheapest shipping option.

EB.com preorders are rock solid. The best. I've preordered at least 30 games from them over the last 5 years and every single one got to me before noon on the release date if I used overnight shipping.

I've had the same experience, their online site is just awesome. Never had a problem over the last four years. Sometimes I get the game before the EBgames in the mall. :lol

I have so much preorder stuff i take from work (gamestop) its nuts.. I have a nice plush collection building ranging from harvest moon cows and dogs to conker squirrels haha

I wanted one of those Harvest Moon dogs sooo bad when I preordered Wonderful Life, but then when the time came they said it was only for Friends of Mineral Town. I was so annoyed! Why I was so upset about a stupid plush dog, I don't know, but I was pretty bummed.

I've really had good experiences with ebgames.com, especially compared to gamestop.com. If you get overnight shipping, you'll almost certainly get it the day after ship date, which is the day the stores get it.

I pre-ordered PS2, Xbox, and GC from there and got them all promptly the day of launch. Plan on pre-ordering X360 on there once they lock down the date and price.

The only item I ever pre-ordered from EBGames.com was my PS2, and that arrived the same day as launch day. So I was happy with their service.

Did they force a bundle on it? The last console launches were four years ago, so I can't remember if they did or not. I just know they did with the PSP, so I'm sure they will with the new consoles as well.

I don't remember a forced bundle, but it's been so long - hell if I know.

The bundles suck, but I can live with it as long as they keep it to 3 and under and let you choose the games. Generally I'll get at least 3 games with a new system.

the secret of not getting a bundle is simply saying "I dont want the fucking bundle", or at least it was when I left EB. You just had to sit on the fact that you want to pre-order and do not want the bundle. If they argue ask them to call the district manager, and when you get him/her on the phone, explain how you are going to call the better business bureau and file a formal complaint, and how you are going to find out if forced bundling is legal in your state.

youll get your system with no bundle :P

Well, thanks for the info. I've pre-ordered past consoles at EB stores in my district without having to bundle, but I was talking about EB's website. I doubt there's a way of getting out of those bundles. :lol

I dont doubt its the same method. Threatening legal action is always a winner, more because they dont want to be hassled by the BBB or consumer rights groups more than anyone else. I was once told that a guy had ordered a PS2, and was called and told he would have to wait until the second shipment because he was nearly last on the pre-order list. Well, he called and called until he was speaking with Jose, one of the eastern RVPs at that time (might still be, I dont know). Anyway, the guy says to Jose "In my state, you took my money promising me a console at launch, that is a legally binding contract, and you're going to give me my fucking console or I'm going to sue you and win". He had his console at launch.

If I want to be guaranteed a preorder bonus, I order online. It is a gamble instores.
Yeah, it's looking like that's the way I'll have to go. My local EB doesn't have the bonus item in-store, so if I want it, online's my only option; And I do want it. :D

EBgames is very good about pre-order bonus's (and shipping things on release dates) I pre-ordered Zelda: WW there and got my bonus OoT a month before WW came out^^

4. CANCEL ALL PRE-ORDERS!!! EB loves when people forget they put that $5 down on that hot coming soon title. 6 months ago, before the "merger" store managers got the word one day to cancel all pre-orders that weren't picked up and deposit the money from them with the rest of your cash at the end of the night. WOAH! It totaled over $900 in CASH that the company just confiscated from customers who trusted us enough to leave us thier hard earned money. So you might wanna get that $50 deposit on the XBOX 360 back and put it in at a GAMESTOP.

thats been done for a long time, but pre-orders have to sit in the computer for a *significant* length of time for it to happen, like a year, or 6 to 9 months after a game comes out, or whatever. Basically, when the money is still there, you know the customer forgot about it. I blame any managers who had this money to put in their deposit. I made a point of calling up everyone I had deposits from who had not collected their titles or used the money within a month of the release of the title they pre-ordered. Most people were had forgotten they had placed a pre-order, and gladly shifted the money to a new pre-order. As a store manager I got dick for raises as well, and was written up repeatedly for petty shit by "the man" after going out of my way to help my customers time and again. EB does indeed SUCK.

Both EBGames and Gamestop have been consistently fast in getting preorders to me right on or about the release date, and always with the promised extra (like the Ninja Gaiden w/wallscroll at EB or back further such as with Conker BFD/t-shirt at Gamestop).

None of that surprises me based on my EB store experiences, but I think ebgames.com is run separately. Anyway, you don't have to put money down to pre-order online, and you can cancel at any time, so it's not too much of a risk
Is that really how it works? I thought I remembered something 'bout not getting charged for WW 'til it shipped, but I forget.

Yeah, you don't get charged until it ships. On certain items, like system pre-orders, they may process your card 3-4 days before in order to ensure that it ships on time without any problems

You really don't need a coupon at this point. Just ask the employee to check the promotions and he will probably just up the worth of the GBA games. If he really needs proof ask him to call the central office. They should give him the coupon code.

I get most of my purchases from EBGames.com, and I have never failed to get the bonus items.

Only game I preordered from them was ToS for GC, got it a day after release with all the freebies. No complaints here, good promt delivery, everything was packaged, the artbook and cell were not scratched.

I think the problem comes when ordering online and picking up in-store. You almost never get the bonus item. If you order online and have it shipped, you should always get it.

Ahh, no, I get them shipped to me.
