Ebgames.com X360 Bundles....

Super Pac,I think youre off the mark dude. The 360 will be hot this Winter. It will sell out and bundles will fly, unfortunately. The gaming market in North Amerca is more than just Sony nowdays yaknow.:) Xbox360 has Halo and Xbox Live image applied to it. They have reassurance in that this console will be home to that franchise-its that leap of faith that consumers have in a brand.

People will buy the console from day one and enjoy what's at launch, much like PS2 owners did with their software at its launch. Plus with EA being there it will guarantee to lure in folks who are willing to buy a next gen console abit earlier than usual. $700 dollars is alot of money, but then gaming is very social nowdays, friends get together for sports and shooters. Xbox Live also being the next thing to participate in with these games. The mainstream eat it up.

The 360 isn't the PS2, though. This launch is not going to be anywhere near as insane as that. The PS2 launch was an anomaly. It was that crazy only because the thing played DVDs too that so many people were interested in it. That roped in loads of people who weren't normally early adopters. The 360 has no such mainstream feature that is going to increase those people's frothing demand.

Don't kid yourself into thinking there has to be a PS2 launch level craze. XBOX and GC were bundled at specialty stores, as well. At the large chain stores that weren't forcing bundles (Wal-Mark, Circuit City, etc), there were large lines at launch, and many stores sold out of the initial shipments.

Bundle free? Yes.

Without lines? At launch, you're kidding yourself...

When I went to get my PSP the store was busy but I got my machine and was out in 10 minutes (they didn't have much in terms of games, though)

what surprises me the most is that they bundled FOUR games!

i think i'm gonna just buy the premium 180 with no game, then wait for DOA4

Still trolling I see...

Nah, I don't think so. I went to Target on PSP launch day the minute they opened and I expected lines outside the store and there weren't any. I guess the employees were expecting them too because when I walked into the electronics department there were 8 employees all standing behind the counter looking bored. I was the only customer in the entire electronics department. The only thing I had to fight to get a PSP was the stupid debit card machine that wouldn't take my pin.

A handheld launch vs. a console launch? That's not even comparable. Besides, IIRC, the PSP wasn't that scarce, save for a some high demand areas in New York and California. I could've went to one of at least dozen stores within 10 miles of my house and picked up a PSP the day it was released. The same could not be said of XBOX, GC, or the PS2 when they launched. Anecdotal, I suppose, but I doubt my experience was the exception, not the norm.

I never intended handheld to be included in my original statement. And for the record, I didn't have any trouble getting a GBA SP when they launched, either.

EDIT: I don't doubt the time of release is/was a major factor in demand. This gen, all the consoles had a near-holiday launch, and parents wanted to make sure they got what they needed before supplies were gone.

I'm not saying the system's not going to be hot or won't sell out within a few hours. I'm sure that it will. But as crazy as the PS2 launch? No. That's the kind of paranoia EB/Gamestop salespeople use to get people to buy into bundles. "Well if you don't buy a bundle you might not be able to get it right away. And then it'll be sold out until after Christmas. And then what will you have to play, huh? After the 360 comes out no other games are going to come out for other systems and the games you have at home will disintegrate so you better buy our bundle package!" :D

hahaha, you've got to be kidding me... not wanting any of the launch games is trolling?

actually, i want PGR3, but i'm not 100% committed to it, and i'm shaky about PDZ...

DOA4 i'm getting 100% guaranteed for sure, just like DOA3 was the first Xbox game i bought...

buddy, you just need a better hobby.

or at least stalk someone who's hating on the 180 instead of someone who's buying one :)

Only launch I've seen in the last few years with lines was the PS2. The 360 will be relatively easy to obtain, especially at that price.

Probably true mate. :)

PGR3 for sure and DOA3.

Personally. I'm not sure on PDZ until I actually see some real gameplay action. Those guys must in pure crunch mode at the mo to get that game out.

SuperPac-I hope youre right but if I were you I would pre order one just incase(if you haven't done so.) If they can be found on launch day then buy it where you can,but its good to have a specialty shop there to back you up incase it isn't. Btw-how many PS2s were available at its North American launch? And how many X360s are there going to be in the same region? Didnt Sony have massive shortages, that probably played a big part in people buying it as soon as they found one. I still think Microsoft have more than enough marketshare presense to sell out both core and premiun packages though,we'll see how it plays out.

You know it'll sell like hotcakes, even at $700. They could have made it $1000 and they'd still run out of them.

You're dellusional. I think you somehow confused the XBOX brand with the Playstation one.

This will easily delay me in buying a PS3 once they arrive. Sony has more pull than anyone,I'm also afraid what they will ask $$$$ come launch day. I'll probably buy a revolution soon though,Nintendo will always go the Walmart route, which is a good thing this time around.:)

I'm in but damn they just took out most of my gaming crew. Who the hell has $700 laying around in less than 3 months?!

Who, that's getting this, hasn't already alloted for this.

Well, I just stopped by EB on the way home to see how the 2 SKU's were going to be bundled.

As I booked way early this last May, I was automatically bumbed to the $399 model.

Fine with me. I guess the stores are not trying to do bundles.

I am likely to buy 3 games at launch, maybe even 4.

I just don't want to be told what 4 games.

Will probably buy the charge kit and maybe even a 2nd controller.

The manager is insured with me so I know him pretty well ( he's not a flakey fanboy type) and he has assured me that they aren't doing bundles with preorders...
At the end of the day though, he's just the manager. I wouldn't start pimping Gamestop until they actually post their pre-order program online....

If they change it Im canceling my pre order and making a line at target in the morning like I did for the first xbox......IF they change is which they've sworn not to...

The bundling is for online site only. In stores if you have it reserved you do not have to buy anything in addition to the system.

Perfect Dark and Kameo are $50. Collector Perfect Dark will be $60.

I haven't, but I will use a Kutaragi quote since it applies: People will find a way to buy what they want, no matter what it costs. They'll either save money for months in advance, or the launch hype will eat away at them until they excite themselves beyond containment and rush out to get it. Price really isn't an issue to someone that wants it bad enough.

My $1000 statement might have been too much, but I still think they'll sell like hotcakes.

Correction: They will sell well, just like any piece of launch hardware would sell.

It's sustaining that launch window that is most important, and at the current prices - Microsoft is setting up for 360 doom especially if Sony throws any wildcard out there (see Saturn: "$299." speech)

Why do you guys think it has taken so long for Microsoft to nail a price down for two SKUS and get their launch list in order.

It's Sony who is going to control this war going into next generation - Microsoft needs to make a good impression the first time in.

EB also charges sales tax to every state except five, so with overnight shipping and tax, for me this would total $755.91. :lol

Gamestop is the same thing as EBGames now. The bundles are coming from them too, I'd imagine.

FWIW

I just called my local Gamestop, and the guy assured me that they weren't doing bundles. He also stated that the merger wouldn't be finalized until after the launch date. I told him I wasn't interested in a bundle. He seemed knowledgeable, but who knows.

It looks like November 15/16th seems to be the launch date.

EBGames.com has started taking preorders on the system and they are listing a November 15th ship date. Keep in mind that the original Xbox launched on November 15th as did Xbox Live.

EBGames.com is offering two bundles:

Ultimate Contains:

- Xbox 360 Premium Bundle
- Perfect Dark Zero Limited Edition
- Dead or Alive 4
- Kameo: Elements of Power
- Project Gotham Racing 3
- Extra Wireless Controller
- Play & Charge Kit
- Rechargeable Battery Pack

Total: $699.92

Core Contains:

- Xbox 360 Core Bundle
- Perfect Dark Zero Limited Edition
- Dead or ALive 4
- Kameo: Elements of Power
- Project Gotham Racing 3
- Extra Wired Controller
- 64MB Memory Unit

All games and accessories listed have moved to November 15th ship date. Frame City Killer actually moved up a few days and is now releasing alongside the system. King Kong and Elder Scrolls are still listed as November 22nd. Elder Scrolls is suppose to be a launch title but that may have changed. The reason I said 16th because the 15th is a shipping date, making the next day more liking. Then again EBGames.com can't send them out until the actual launch date for 15th can very well be the day. Both the release list and the calendar has been updated with this new info.

The launch lineup now consists the following (subject to change):

Amped 3 (Take Two)
Call of Duty 2 (Activision)
Condemned (Sega)
Dead or Alive 4 (Tecmo)
Final Fantasy XI (Square Enix)
Frame City Killer (Namco)
Full Auto (Sega)
Ghost Recon 3 Advanced Warfighter (Ubisoft)
Gun (Activision)
Kameo: Elements of Power (Microsoft)
Madden NFL 2006 (EA)
NBA 2K6 (Take Two)
NBA Live 2006 (EA)
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA)
NHL 2K6 (Take Two)
The Outfit (THQ)
Perfect Dark Zero (Microsoft)- Limited Edition will be available for $59.99
Project Gotham Racing 3 (Microsoft)
Quake IV (Activision)
Ridge Racer 6 (Namco)
Saint's Row (THQ)
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2006 (EA)
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (Activision)
Top Spin 2 (Take Two)

That is 24 launch titles and if Microsoft isn't exaggerating another 18 or so will be available by the end of the year. This means some Japanese titles will probably make it out here by year's end. Games like Fifa Soccer, Test Drive, King Kong, and Elder Scrolls should be a week or two after launch day.

It's possible, but the 15th is also a typical EB "placeholder" date. If they don't have an exact date for a release, they will list it either the 1st, 15th, or 30th/31st of a given month.

I don't agree with what he said, but we are talking about two very different markets (now compared to then)

Sad thing is that aside from Oblivion (which likely won't make launch) those 4 titles were what i was planning to get anyways. Not sure if I want to encourage them to pull this bundle shit by purchasing a 700$ pack from them though...

Unfortunately, I purchased the over the top bundle at ebgames.com. I was hoping they were going to allow you to pick the games, like they did with the PSP, but alas, my faith has resulted in teeth marks on my ass. I will hope that gamestop.com offers a better bundle and switch to that if so. My own fault for not preordering in store, but I had a very bad experience with the PS2 launch and have avoided in store preorders since.

Oblivion and Condemned are the only games floating my fancy so far, looks like I’ve got four games and an extra controller ebay bound!

It's true, but I guess I'm questioning their optimism in thinking people are gonna drop $700 for these bundles.

I just had the $700 bundle all ready to go, with tax & overnight shipping $752... and closed the window at the last minute. I'll go to Best Buy at midnight on the 15th/16th and get the $400 bundle + six games + tax for the same $750. Don't want an extra controller right now, don't want a recharging cord and probably don't want DOA4.

If you're planning on spending that much, it might not hurt to just order one, in case BB decides to take the bundle route (unlikely). You could always just cancel the order since they don't charge you yet anyways.

$750. Because you know Sony has to bundle the Blu-Ray version of Spider-Man 2 with the system. :)

I have a feeling that will happen. :lol But probably with EBGames or something. The first Blu Ray movies will likely rival game prices.

So basically EA and Activision games will be 60 and the rest 50. This is good news. PD0 Limited Edition is probably 60 too while the regular one is 50.

Actually, of the games I checked, only first party games are $49.99

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categori...soon&web_dept=XBox 360&intpageno=2&nooftens=1

(Tecmo) DOA 4 = $59.99
(Take-Two) NBA 2k6, Morrowind $59.99
(EA) NFS:MW, Madden $59.99
(Activision) GUN, TH:AW, COD2 $59.99
(Atari) Test Drive $59.99
(Namco) Frame City $59.99
(THQ) Saints Row $59.99
(Sega) Condemned $59.99
(Ubisoft) Ghost Recon 3 $59.99

I'd watch out with the pre-order and then cancel business. EB may be really prickish about that kind of thing. This isn't chump change.

Everytime I spend >600 at launch I always, ALWAYS regret it. I spent more than 700 on PSP launch (mostly not on games, the brunt of the money was in buying 2 1GB Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duos), and I regret it every damn day.

Spending 700 on a Bundle that had DEAD OR ALIVE 4 in it might actually cause me to commit suicide after realizing the bulk of shittiness that was contained inside.
