An 8 for AC Shadows is high praise from EDGE. Well deserved, it's the best AC in years.

Having said that I got bored about 25 hours in and cancelled my Ubi+ sub, so I can pick it up when its gold edition is 20€

AC Shadows is hard to score because it's pretty great if you haven't ever played an open-world game. Or at least for like 15 years. Or if you just want to do it all over again.

Surprised Shadows received such a high score. Very mediocre to me
It is particualrly surprising because they usually gave low scores to these type of games.

They probably gave 1-2 extra woke points like they did with south of mid.

They are still an uk toilette paper i mean journal afterall.

I dont see how the two are mutually exclusive, also Tlou2 came out and I jumped on that, Im playing a ton of Hitman freelancer lately as well.

I can wait, theres no hurry to finish it and Ive seen what the game offers, its cool but I see no rush to finish it

South of Midnight is awesome! Solid 8/10 for me.
Is it woke? I have no idea what that word even means anymore.
The main character is black and a woman, so double whammy woke.

But IMO it's quite not woke. It's a black story in a black setting with black characters. No one else was added for "inclusion"

It's another case of 'everything I don't like is woke'.

You'll see a difference in opinion from people who are actually playing it versus people who only watch grifter youtube videos about it.

If an 80 hour game becomes boring after 25 hours I do not see how it can be "best AC in years".
The graphics are amazing, Naoe story is awesome, the combat is good, the world map is less bloated and the stealth gameplay is the best in the series.

Comparing to Mirage bad story, Valhalla awful combat, Odyssey bloated world and Origin poorly told story and awful world building, AC Shadows is by far the best AC game since Blackflag.

The game isn't perfect and if you are already tired of the series, chances are you will probably dislike it, but for those who still enjoy the gameplay loop, it is awesome.

This I will finish it one day and I can safely say its the best of the 'new' AC games. However that does not mean there are not other games that get my playtime first

Fantastic score for South of Midnight, well done to whoever the developer and publisher was :messenger_clapping:

The First Berserker: Khazan continues to look mid af to me.

It's because the level of ac games is always pretty low so even being a 6,5 or 7-- is already a win.

I onestly had more fun with origins and odissey but shadows is better than valhalla at least.

The gameplay is still the same shallow, easy slop, just with a japanese coat of paint, the game did some step forwards and an equal number of back steps.

They've scored South of Midnight about right in my opinions. Great setting, interesting story, hampered with basic platforming, exploration and combat.

But then they've gone and scored Blue Prince about 9 points too high.

Gotta get on the Blue Prince, I downloaded it the other day (PSA: Gamepass), an Edge 9 is practically must play for me.

Wow, a black female character is all it takes to be "woke" these days? That's pretty... insane.

I was interested in Blue Prince but I heard it has roguelike and RNG elements, meh.
It does have a lot of RNG to it and some roguelike stuff. I do like it and I am still playing through it, but sometimes it feels like it takes way too much RNG to do a specific thing and it can very frustrating.

Some runs can end after a few rooms and others can go on for a age, but even then you'll find at the end you need to replay it again because 1 thing needs changed but to get takes so much luck. Can do the opposite of motivate you to continue sometimes.

None of those games listed there are that great. Best game there is probably the unreleased Bloober game Chronos in the cover but it's not even on that list cause it's not released yet.

But none of them are that great so I'm still willing to bet an unreleased game like Chronos would be better than all of them even if I'm not too crazy hyped up on that either.
