Heh, I've seen a few good DJs there but I hate that fucking place.

I've never gone there and I never will simply because every time I hear that place mentioned it's right before hearing about how much it sucks.

EDIT: I'm 26.

I don't remember the first songs or groups I had heard, more generally. In the NY/NJ area in the US, a dance station called KTU played a ton of dance music. Most of it US dance/pop variety but they veered into everything at times (80s new wave, techno). I enjoyed it.

However, I do remember the first song that plunged me down the rabbit hole into actively exploring the genre and various sub-genres (including discovering trance <3).

Hehe, KTU! I'm from Long Island so yeah I know KTU, and (a bit later) Party 105. I remember every Fri/Sat nights, WBLI/KTU/Z100/Party used to broadcast mix shows from the clubs, and I heard a ton of new music that way... the first time I heard "Music Sounds Better With You" was on one of these mix shows... though of course being in NYC in the '90's, most of the music played was hard house, not my favorite genre of music.

God, ISOS 2 is still my fav EDM album ever. So amazing.

I was deep into progressive house in the beginning of this century and still listen to some CDs from that time, I guess a lot of you EDMers might like these as well:

Great picks, Balance 005 is especially legendary... Though I preferred Yoshiesque 1 to 2. So disappointing that Deep Dish split up, with Dubfire going all into mnml techno and Sharam doing god knows what.

I haven't heard these before, must be some of his earlier work. You can kind of hear the beginnings of his Pryda sound percolating in some sections of these tracks.

Yeh he hit big with Call On Me, but this was before that. Lots of big house tunes before he got a taste for electro. I love Inspiration though, it's got that Toronto new trance vibe.

I also love the direction this thread is taking.

YES. KTU on Saturday night was just hours and hours from various clubs. It was the best.

At one point Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes topped their charts. Weird but awesome.

Sounds like you like electro house. Try Porter Robinson and Madeon, I think they're somewhat similar. You might also like stuff from Arty and Mat Zo, although they're less electro sounding. If you're willing to go a little harder then Cazzette, Feed Me, and Knife Party might be interesting to you.
