No. And that's the whole point.

If I knew people weren't going to be coming in here every few pages and asking about non-mainstream artists and getting ignored/shunned, de-railing the conversation, etc then I wouldn't care. But that's already happened, and I know it will continue to happen periodically in the future because the title is confusing, so I'd rather the simple change be made now to fix it than have to deal with it over and over again.

Anyone in here a Madeon fan? I can't believe how young and talented he is, I've managed to miss him live on several occasions that I could've seen him and it pains me.

This mix is just so smooth and the transitions are so nice. I love his style, it's all over the place:

What Seven Lions and Adventure Club would you recommend?

I like Crave You (Adventure Club Remix) by Flight Facilities, and Retro City (LOUDPVCK Remix) and Wait by AC. I don't know any Seven Lions at all.

YES. Madeon is awesome! Saw him in Toronto in December and he put on a great show, totally dig his TripleJ and Ultra mix, kid is talented as hell.

Days To Come is probably my favourite Seven Lions track, but check out his whole EP.
(Saw him open for Porter last month and he was pretty good, didn't expect him to look like he did though :p )

Definitely do it. Other good stuff by him:

The City
Pop Culture
Finale
Yelle - Que Veux Tu (Madeon Remix)
Martin Solveig - The Night Out (Madeon Remix)

Don't forget his Raise Your Weapon remix, that's what put him on the map for me

100% percent this!

anyway more music, and less arguing :)

ive been into liquid dubstep lately especially from Adventure club or seven lions

Yuna-Lullabies(adventure Club remix) ULTRATV played this song as the outro to ultra music festival and ive been addicted to it ever since. sooo goood

anyone here know any more dubstep that are like this? i have all seven lions songs

I like this from Adventure Club: Flight Facilities - Crave You (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

I remember hearing it in the Electric Zoo 2012 Official Recap video (ah, such good times).

You may also want to check out some of Skrillex's new stuff, which is a lot slower and more chilled out than his usual stuff:

Skrillex - Leaving

Skrillex - The Reason

These are great! I reformatted the links to show the name of the song so I can come back and pick out the ones I like most later. :)

Edit: I've always loved this song and only today realized that it's actually progressive trance (I always thought it was progressive house):

Dinka - Lotus (Johan Vilborg Remix)

DietRob

i've been begging for over 5 years.
Here are some sets that should not be missed:
**List**

It's going to be a fun couple of days. I've been PM'ing Ashhong and have been pointed to some good stuff. Thanks for this list of must listen's.

I'm just now getting back into the genre after about a 15 ish year break. Can get overwhelming.

edit : I really can't wait for my M50 headphones to arrive now.

Seven Lions made dubstep so much enjoyable

Another of my favourite Dubstep/ElectroHouse style groups is Nero, who I don't hear enough about. Anyone who hasn't heard much of theirs should absolutely download their album, has pretty good variation from some more French electro, to dubstep, to some softer stuff.

I'm sure most people have heard Promises, Innocence, and Me and You (great video)... or remixes of them.

Their latest, Seven Lions dropped this at his show:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOM2DK-RLLU

And just to be original, one of my favourites from their album, Reaching Out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJVQJ4-n_cA

Apologies in advance if they aren't news to everyone, just have to make sure!

Promises is probably the most played vocal in the recent edm festivals!!
love me some nero!

anytime someone mentions Nero, i feel compelled to bring attention Camo and Krooked and their album Cross the Line, released just 2 months after Nero's Welcome Reality.

254887.jpg

it straddles a line between dubstep and drum and bass; maybe leaning drum and bass, but it has a lot of the same pop mentality that other bands like Nero and even Pendulum have in their songs.

camo and krooked - run riot
camo and krooked - hot pursuit
camo and krooked - in the future (featuring jenna g and futurebound) (outstanding vocal track, fans of sub focus apply)
camo and krooked - cryptkeeper

Music videos of some songs i cant stop listening to

Mat Zo & Porter Robinson - Easy (neat)

I'm assuming this is the official video (since I can't view youtube right now), but I just realized there was a music video for this song last night. I was very wtf during the middle part, but kept watching it non-stop till I went to bed.

I'm glad it finally got a shorter edit, the full song always gave me this vibe that it was made to be edited/remixed. Felt like it dragged on despite how much I liked it, unlike Language that felt great in full.

I agree about the song length, although I LOVE the middle section with the vocoder-ish stuff

Glad you are enjoying :D I'm seeing them next month finally. Can't wait!

And I use M50s too, they're so good. Hope you got an amp of some sort. That's when they really shine, especially with some EDM

What sort of amp would you recommend? I don't have much experience in audiophile-ness. I've already ordered a Xonar DGX sound card for my beastly built pc. Should arrive about the same time as the cans.

Speaking of cans, what headsets do you guys use? These are my babies:

I just plug this straight into my computer. What's an amp, and do I need one?

That card is enough if you plan to use the headphones with your computer. For portable uses with your laptop or phone or something, I recommend the Fiio E11. It's what I use and its great. I'm not sure if there's an updated model by now though..

I'm watching the Tomorrowland 2013 trailer and I'm so fucking jealous. Notice how none of the crowd are as douchey as the US teeny bopper raver crowd?

I need to plan a Tomorrowland 2014 Belgium trip. Who's in?

I'll definitely try to go in 2014.

Damn so much new music in this thread. Listening now to Madeon's Triple J Mix and it's awesome. First time I'm hearing him, missed him on the Ultra stream.

I use Senn HD280 Pro, and I'm incredibly bored of them after like 5+ years and looking to upgrade.

Do all closed cans make your ears feel stuffy and hot? I've been feeling that way more and more recently. Problem is I'd assume open cans would be more public, and possibly bothersome to roommates at late hours.

My Denons are super comfortable. The cushion they use that you put around your ear is really soft and breathes really well. I thought it would get annoying but it hasn't yet.

Are those closed cans?

And where do you plug them in? The regular headphone jack on the motherboard? I'm not familiar with those specific cans but if yes, an amp will most likely help. They provide power to your cans so that you get fuller sound.

You can get a sound card with an amp on it, a portable amp for use with any headphone jack, a computer amp that plugs into the USB port, or even one that does the USB port AND headphone jack for portable use.

I use Audio Technica ATH-m50s, they're great, but I could use a little more bass

Using an amp? I thought the same thing until I got an amp. It's still not brain shakingly loud like I want it, but it's great. The Fiio E11 is a good choice if you are looking to use it on a portable player.

I think so, they're circumaural so the cushions go all the way around my ears. And yeah I plug it straight into the headphone jack on my laptop.

So I saw this on the gaming side:

Open cans are circumaural too I believe. What model do you have?

And you should get either a USB DAC or a portable amp, depending on where you would use your cans. I recommended the E11 but it seems the E12 is coming and it looks sexy

Same here. Would appreciate a little more bass, but I'm buying an amp soon so I will see how that goes. Soundstage is unparalleled though and even though the bass is less than I'd like, it's still really good.

No I've never tried an amp, I'll pick one up in the near future

It's funny because it seems like the only people in here complaining about the thread's meaning are the people from the other thread. We've got a ton of new posters in here who know exactly what the thread is intended for. Obviously this thread is serving it's intended purpose when we have people coming in saying "finally a thread for EDM!". Is it our fault they don't care about your thread?

If you don't like the music posted here, stay out. Simple as that.
It's not that we don't like it, it's that (personally) I'm trying to prevent other people coming in here, posting something that they'd consider "electronic dance music" and getting shouted down because it doesn't fit the definition of "Electronic Dance Music". Like I said, I have no problem with this thread being here, no-one does. But the ambiguous (to everyone who isn't American) title is going to keep people like me (and others who aren't even AWARE of the Electronic music thread) from shitting up this thread with stuff that doesn't fit under "EDM" because it's "bleep bloop" music.

It doesn't worry me at all, because this isn't the thread I have my focus on. But when someone starts posting a fuckload of actual (read: UK) dubstep, minimal, tech and wonders why people are going off at them (or worse, ignoring them completely), don't fucking go screaming at them because they didn't know the difference between "electronic dance music" and "Electronic Dance Music". I tried really fucking hard to keep my post civil in explaining "our" (those non-defensive of the term "EDM" and the ambiguity of the thread title) side of the coin, but posters like yourself continue to get arced up over a misinterpretation that you can't see for yourself, so therefore it's everyone else's fault they don't know what this thread is about.

With the exception of certain genres that are particularly ill-suited for the dance floor, such as ambient and drone, this is pretty much a universal truism since the beginning of the existence of electronic music culture. The whole EDM = big room dance music is pretty much something that's made up by the mainstream American industry in the last couple of years. This is also why some overseas people have expressed confusion over the working of the thread title.

Oh and in the interest of keeping this thread from being way too argument/discussion focused, since ilnadmy seem to have meant very well with his perhaps ill-fated intentions, my take is that every post ought to be accompanied by a piece of music.

Plump DJs - Remember My Name

God damn, this track is brutal as fuck. LOVE IT.

Moar breaks:
Freestylers - Get A Life (Poxymusic remix)
Ferry Corsten (zomg EDM!) - Rock Your Body, Rock (Poxymusic & Kid Kenobi's Break Your Body Rockin' Remix)
Mr. Ratty - Rat Decor (Breakbeat remix of Passion by Gat Decor. My god.)

Hilarious. You are up at arms and causing arguments because we may at some point prove dismissive to some hypothetical person who should be posting in your thread.

All the while creating a real argument in the here and now.

You realize how crazy that sounds?

Another M50 user here. I actually like than they have a bass emphasis but not so much. IMO for Trance (its what I mainly listen) bassy cans can be bad because those tend to have recessed mids or highs, unless you look at really high prices. For example, I had a pair of Beyerdynamic COPs, awesome for Techno, but didnt like them for Trance.

Never used an amp, I though the M50 benefit more from a DAC, with their low impendance.

Its funny because thats what would happen in your thread whenever I posted about trance. And apparently what happens to ilnadmy judging by a post in there saying he's lonely.

And yea, thank you for trying "really fucking hard" to stay so civil. We all appreciate it so much. It would have been more beneficial if you had tried really fucking hard to just stay out.

ilnadmy is accepted as well as everyone else. infact, ilnadmy is one of the best posters in there. No i dont listen to trance anymore, doesnt mean we dont get along.

certain people in that thread dont speak for everyone.
